Ive been going to this salon for a few years or so and up until the past couple of years I had never gotten any highlights etc, just always went in for a very minimal trim to grow out my hair which is essentially impossible to mess up! Well I finally grew out my long waist length hair and can say that if you want anything beyond a trim, Orlo is NOT for you!!! One of their stylists Christine basically ruined my beautiful long hair! I came in the salon for a full head of highlights specifically balayage because Christine had done foils in the past and I wanted something that would give a much blonder brighter result, well that didnt happen. She talked me out of the balayage and we ended up just doing a full head of foils. Well she started in the back as most stylists do, and as I said I had a ton of long hair so the back underneath section processed wayyyyyy too long! A smart stylist wouldnt process the underneath section for the almost 2 hours it took to finish the rest of my hair!!! She over processed my hair and it is now rough and breaking because of this! My hair was basically one length and I wanted some face framing layers to give my hair some movement and volume, which she completely messed up! It has thick choppy layers in the front and back and I now have no other option than to cut it to the shortest layer and grow it out all one length again. It honestly looks so bad I have to wonder if she did it on purpose. Im always very specific with what I ask stylists to do and even showed pictures and the results were terrible. I walked out of the salon having spent over $200 for her to ruin my hair and almost 4 hours of my day. They know very little about hair in that salon and dont care about preserving the integrity of the clients hair. The aveda coloring line they use is really pretty terrible and it is the only thing they use. Myself and a lot of other people will tell you that almost every color they use in that line will give your hair a red undertone that is very hard to get rid of! If you want over processed hair that breaks and disgusting choppy layers, look no further! They also DO NOT use olaplex which is an amazing product that preserves the integrity of your hair while bleaching and coloring which just further shows how little they care about their clients hair. Christine has also mentioned to me that in addition to doing hair she is self employed and "just does hair for fun." I guess if you dont need happy clients or their money, you dont care too much about doing a nice job and the lack of concern certainly shows in the quality (or more accurately lack thereof) in her work. Save yourself the time, money and tears from having your hair ruined and find a different salon.

I started going to the Orlo salon in November 2011. Ive lived here since 2006 and have been to at least 4 different stylists over the years. I like to change my look alot and found that stylists I was seeing wanted me to stay safe, with medium to long hair and light layers. But I needed CHANGE! I called Orlo and made an appt with an unknown stylist (something I never do but I was just so desperate and figured why not). I went there for the first time and was warmly greeted by the receptionist. She offered some of the most delicious tea (Aveda brand) while I waited for my stylist. I met Amy and we talked about different colors and styles and I stated I wanted to go shorter and a little "funky" but was scared to cut too much since I have curly hair. Amy suggested a modified angle bob (not as sharp as a regular angled bob). Instead of all over color and highlights, she suggested a toned highlight (my hair is REALLY dark brown). I usually do a deep side part and was surprised when one of the stylists suggested vertical highlights rather than horizontal ones. The color and cut came out perfect! The vertical highlights worked well with the deep part (and didnt give me that stripey highlight look). I went back 5 weeks later to cut a little more (more funk!) and do a tone touch-up. I couldnt have been happier. My husband, whos usually a fan of long hair, complimented me as soon as I walked in the door. Amy had perfectly framed my face and the color (red highlights) really popped! Plus I received compliments for a full 4 weeks after getting the cut. Finally! A Capital Region stylist who gets me and my hair!!!

I had a wedding up in Schenectady this weekend and I needed a salon. I orginally made an appt with a different salon but had to cancel due to lack of time. I found Studio Orlo wasnt to far from where I was staying so I figured I would make my appt here. The staff was great, they were so nice and helpful. However my hair came out terrible. It was such a simple task, to curl and put extensions in my hair. I was shocked when it came out as bad as it did. When I started to realize that it was looking terrible I asked my stylist, who never told me her name, to pin it to one side. She did so by putting it in a little pony tail which was not what I asked for. All in all, it was sloppy, messy, all over the place and the curls were falling out by the time I got in the car. It was so bad to the point where I was embarrassed to be seen in public. I had to do my hair all over again myself with less than an hour till the wedding. AND way to expensive for the easy style I asked for.

Ive never been here before but I wanted to go to a make up artist for my wedding Make Up. I went to Courtney for a trial run and I was very pleased. We went through a couple of changes after the trial was over and the day of my wedding, I looked so beautiful. I had a few stress pimples pop up the day of my wedding and she covered them very well. I wanted a natural glow and she did just that. I was a little disappointed when I found out they didnt have air brush services anymore. However she did my make up perfectly and I looked flawless. Thank you Courtney!!

I received a Sugar Wax service at Studio Orlo and loved it. Courtney was fast, gentle, and professional. The sugar wax is less irritating than traditional waxing so it was an all around great experience and I will be going there for future services
