Rip off I went to this shop based on some good reviews I read here. There is also a good word posted on the wall from some Holly Father (his name I do not mention here) who has recommended this shop. I went there and I asked him to give me an estimate for a break job on my car (estimate) after a few minutes he came back and told me that because the rotor and pads and sensors have to be changed all together it would cost me 595.00 and I told him that I could not afford that amount so I will wait for another month . He brought the car back and charged me 45+ taxes for the estimate alone. Usually that is how much most mechanics charge for the labor to just change your break. I also asked if he could reset my SRS light and he said that would be additional diagnostic work. I took the car to another shop on Old Country Road that is also an approved site for the DMV car inspections. He also said that the whole system of break needs to be changed and it would cost me 350.00 when I told him that I could not afford 350.00 they took off another 50.00 so I paid 300.00 for brand new sensors, rotors and break pads. He also checked my SRS light with a diagnostic tool and gave the codes and re-set the SRS as courtesy. If you are going to Village Automotive Center make sure you ask for ever little work that is suppose to be done in order to prevent rip off and disappointment. BAD EXPERIENCE VERY BAD

My experience sounds unbelievable but it is true. My car sounded and acted like it was giving the death rattle. I called Rich (owner) to get his advice on a new car.. It was NOT a good time for this but I thought I had no options. SInce Port Jefferson is far from my home I tried a local mechanic first. He said it was in need of a new transmission and would cost $2500. I thought why not swing by Village Auto on my way to the dealer. Lets see what Rich thinks of saving my car for another year or so when I can think about a new car. He found out it wasnt the transmission AT ALL! it was another problem much less expensive and very repairable. He saved me a major monthly car expense at a time when I am building up a business and dont need the extra headache. Talk about bring something back from the dead. Thanks to Rich and his competent and upbeat staff! I have once again been saved by Village Auto. Yes same car still running! So far I got another 40 thousand miles put on the car since last time. And yes another miracle from Rich Di Martino and his awesome staff! In 1 minutes of driving the car down the block Rich was able to tell me the exact difficulty. He fixed within the promised time for a fair price and this car is driving as well as a car with 20,000 miles. It has actually 160,000 and it runs smoothly, quietly and safely.

I have been using Village Automotive for a many many years, most likely since Rich (owner) started there. I have alway found them to be extremely helpful and reliable, and have come to trust them completely. Aside from my personal cars, they have serviced at one time or another, those of everyone else in my family. I have found that repairs are not advised unless absolutely necessary, and if an issue can be safely watched and reassessed later, they will advise that approach. On numerous occasions, I have called or just stopped in with a minor problem, and it is always taken care of right away. A ride to or from work or home is never a problem. The staff is polite, courteous, friendly and quite knowledgeable. Rich takes personal pride in the quality of the work done by everyone there. I recall once, one of my cars had a leak somewhere, with water puddling on the rear floor. After a thorough investigation, it was traced to the sunroof and fixed (thank goodness). Rich told me it was one of his more challenging fixes, and he was glad to have solved the problem, whcih never recurred. All in all, I have been extremely satisfied with the service here and can certainly recommend it highly.

I have been using Village Automotive for more than a decade, based on an original recommendation from a colleague. Cars are expensive, cost money to maintain, and no one wants to pay more than they need to for a safe and dependable vehicle. I find this garage to be very honest and straightforward, an opinion that was strongly reinforced recently. While driving down the road, I heard an awful sound coming from the front wheels, an incredible grating sound. Thinking that something terrible had happened, I drove to Village Automotive prepared to hear the worst. They put the car on the lift, and within a few minutes found a small stone lodged between the brake caliper and disk and removed it. Rather than take advantage of my anxiety and charge a fortune for an unnecessary repair, they returned my car to me with no charge. This level of honesty and integrity is not easily found, and I would highly recommend their services.

Village Auto is trustworthy. Ive used them a few times, and have always been happy with the results. For me, their speciality has been to figure out what was wrong when other mechanics could not. Most recently, my car was displaying scan codes that stumped two another mechanics. Village Auto took their time, figured it out, and gave me a very fair price on the labor they spent on the diagnostic. The repair itself was quite expensive, and they gave me a break on that as well. Their communication with me during this process was open, honest and as frequent as it needed to be. On a prior occasion (with a different car), another mechanic again had trouble figuring out the problem, fixed the wrong thing, and charged me anyway. Village identified the real trouble and fixed it for good. On one other occasion, they couldnt duplicate a problem I had described. They told me as much and charged me nothing. I trust Village Auto.

Weve had our cars serviced by Rich Dimartino & Village Automotive even before we moved to Strongs Neck in 1988. Several of my fellow local real estate agents recommended him then. Weve had at least eight different cars ( Olds, Cadillacs, TransAm, VW Buses, Buick), serviced by them over those 25+ years and all have received excellent service. We currently have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe and 03 Chevy Astro under their care., which we bought brand new and are out of warranty. After having several problems with dealer care during the warranty period, I learned that Village Automotive could have provided proper complete new-car warranty service without having to return to the dealer (now closed). Hey, I just got my email reminder that my Hyundai is due for servicing. Next to our son-in-law Evan at "BigEs Garage," in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, we absolutely recommend Village Automotive!

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of stumbling upon Village Automotive Center after my car battery died for the second time. Despite it being near their closing time, they urged me to come straight over and Im so happy that I did. The customer service was phenomenal, Javier not only changed and cleaned the battery compartment extensively, but discovered my brake and interior light were out, saving me a potential ticket! They topped off my oil and washer fluid and allowed me to watch the process so I could learn it myself. I have never received such excellent service and their pricing was far more than reasonable. Ill certainly be a customer for years to come, and hope those reading give them a try! I promise you wont be disappointing. Thank you Javier and all the staff at Village Automotive!
