I have used Vanderhoof for almost all of the 20 years I have owned my home. The one time I did not use them, (in an attempt to get the job done at a lower price, ) I got terribly exploited by a local independent contractor/roofer who made such a mess that I had 5 major leaks inside my house and months of repair work inside and out. Vanderhoof bailed me out and even showed me the spots on the roof where the contractor did not do what he charged me for doing. I will never make that mistake again. Recently, I needed to have some flooding problems resolved that occur during heavy rains. Andy showed, diagnosed the problem immediately, and offered solutions that I could implement in stages according to my budget.I cant say enough about this company. They may cost more than others, but you are getting what you pay for. Andy himself, came and worked on a Saturday to get the job started because the days of heavy rain had their schedule backed up. He is honest, appears when he says he will, has great integrity, and is a kind man. After the work was done, he noticed that a small portion was not completed. He assured me it would be done. Within hours, he had a crew back at my house completing that work. They honor their work. I have had to call several times about water marks and possible leaks indoors. Each time, they appear within hours, and if work is necessary, they do it. No extra charge. The other roofer who made a mess of my house disappeared. When I asked for his insurance, he never answered. He called and threatened me for contacting a lawyer. I never recuperated the $15,000 I paid that man. Vanderhoof will never do that to you. Not in my experience.

I had all the windows in my house replaced, a new roof (with new decking), and new vinyl siding installed by Van Derhoof. I could not be more pleased with the professionalism, the quality of the work performed, and the attention I received from this company. They met with me up front, explained all they planned to do, and then completed the project on time and within the budget they quoted me. Jack Everett did the quoting, supervised the project, and was excellent at answering my many questions. Both the father and the son owners visited the project during construction, which impressed me greatly. The roof was completed in two days so I did not really get to know the roofing team - but they did a good job. I had the siding team at my house for a while and I have to compliment Shannon, Red, and Cheeto for outstanding work, superior workmanship, great sensitivity in minimalizing the disruption to my schedule, and all around being very pleasant to have around. Theyll be reading this so I have to share a private joke - Ill have a grape soda with them any day... I knew I was in good shape when both the dumpster company and the overhead door company complimented their work. I worked with other construction companies before and these folks anticipated my needs and never required me to resort to the dreaded "punch list" - they already had it covered. Lastly they used local suppliers (Erie Materials) and have been in business since 1939. I think by now you know that I would recommend this company highly...

My husband and I recently had a new roof and gutter system installed on our home in Syracuse NY by Van Derhoof Roofing. And we are 101% satisfied! Andy, their Salesman, sat with us at our dining room table and describe to us in detail the quality materials that would be used. And Andy, speaking from a place of having much roofing installation experience of his own, explained that our new roof would be put on, not with speed in mind, but with a small crew, overseen by a very competent Foreman for however long it took to do it right. And that is just what we got! Andy was present several times during the installation. And before he accepted the final payment check from my husbands hand he went up on our roof for a final inspection. Vanderhoof Roofing has knowledgeable and professional Salesman, Foreman of the roof installation, and Foreman of the gutter system. Each one of them giving us peace of mind after investing in one of the largest decisions and expenses of owning a home. Throughout many years, I have had the pleasure of dealing with Van Derhoof Roofing and have know three generations: grandfather, father and son. They answer any question and offer guidance in the maintenance of my silver aluminum painted roof. Every time I go to the Van Derhoof office, I am amazed by the staff professionalism and amiability toward their customers. Early last Spring, while remodeling a porch with a flat roof, we discover a leak, and Vanderhoof staff came to assess the situation and sent a roofer to repair the small leak without delay. And the best, is that when I recommended the business to a friend, we discovered that Van Derhoof workers are protected by workmens compensation. Finally, I have to admit that I have brought them plates of homemade chocolate cookies because sometimes money doesnt pay for everything and in Syracuse who doesnt need to feel secure about their roof? They are a great business.

Did a great job on my roof and gutters. Found out the problem was a ventilation problem and came up with a permanent solution that would not compromise the shingles like the last ones. They came when scheduled, materials and dumpster arrived on time. They protected the house and landscaping around the perimeter and left the grounds the same as before they came. The guys working was polite, worked very well together and was quiet, the neighbors appreciated this. They were very protective of the neighbors driveway and was watched by a safety inspector onsite, nice touch. I would recommend this company to all, the price was fair for the amount of work done and the work and shingle warranty is good.

I had a rep come out to give me a quote for siding. They took pictures and measurements, and then a week later advised they couldnt give me a quote because my house was "too big". Having gotten a couple of other quotes from competitors of theirs, I have an idea of the price and time involved. I expect the work to be expensive, and time consuming... but I would think that Van Derhoof would at least be willing to give me a price and potentially take on my business? Im left with the impression that they dont have the manpower or resources to handle big jobs- which is why Im posting this review. If you have a larger house, and are looking for siding, dont waste your time here; they cant help you.

Van Derhoof roofing did the roof, siding, and gutters on my house. They were extremely professional and their workmanship was impeccable. It was for these reasons, and knowing that they have been around for over 75 years made us choose them for this big job. It makes me feel good knowing that they will be around to stand by their work if there is ever anything that needs fixing in the future. You absolutely can not say that about other companies out there. A roof may be one of the biggest investments a homeowner will ever make. I would tell anyone to trust Van Derhoof for this investment . It is worth the price you pay to get that service and security.
