Im so glad that I found this place. It is minutes from my home in West Asheville and has everything I need to stay healthy in body, mind and spirit. There is an excellent gym that is clean, well lit and meticulously maintained. I was completely new to working out and recovering from major spine surgery when I joined and was fortunate to have hired Matt Clark for some personal strength training which has had a profound impact on my progress and my motivation. ARC Downtown has both an outdoor pool and an indoor saltwater pool with sauna and steam room. They offer a whole slew of group classes. I particularly love Yoga with Jacci and attend whenever I am able. They even have a cafe with a delicious assortment of smoothies for when you need to refuel. Then there are the courts. The tennis program is amazing. I started with beginner clinics and added some lessons with tennis pro Ben Baron to get up to speed. They offer clinics for different skill levels, show up and play events and ladders and indoor courts for when Im dying to play but the weather is uncooperative. There are so many places to work out in Asheville and I am thrilled to have found Asheville Racquet Club. Call and ask for Mike who is a wonderful fitness ambassador who takes an interest, doesnt try to oversell and cheers on your progress. Hell hook you up! Lastly, this is just the downtown club. Membership gives you access to the amazing South club as well, but Ill save that review for another day. Stay fit, yall!

I used both down town and south locations. Staff turnover rate is so high that if you dont like one, dont worry, they will change faster than the AVL weather. This also leads to the ARC acceptance of responsibility: Theyre not responsible for when they (ARC) screws up, like a system upgrade that deletes you, or trying to charge you a new member fee when you have been a member for a few years. Not responsible for towels, broken locks on lockers, lack of hot water, or damaged equipment. (um, really?) The equipment isnt kept up well, and they are more likely to change the layout of the gym floor than to actually fix or replace old or broken equipment. Its location is one of the most convenient, and once you are a member, as long as they dont screw up, it is fine. About on par, cost wise, with all the other gyms in town. If you have kids that want tennis camp, or something, perhaps this is the one and only. However; if it isnt about tennis, and this isnt the best location for you, just attach to a gym that is. They dont have anything special enough to recommend them over any other gym in town. (Shame they dont have racket ball) And their lack of accepting responsibility for anything within their control, be it towels, accounts, programs, equipment.. that is what made me finally decide that I was done with them. I ended up having to cancel my PT, I do hope she got paid, and that the gym didnt just pocket the $$ but I dont count on it.

Management rarely responds to emails, and doesnt resolve anything when they do. They are always out of towels. Ive had to dry off with my dirty gym shirt and return to work. My husband has had to do this multiple times. Its ridiculous. Kids overrun their pool; dont expect to be able to lap swim. Kids also open and close the steam room door, constantly. Took them six months to fix their sauna. Save your money. Plenty of free courts in Asheville if tennis is your thing. Aston Park has clay courts open to the public for 5-10 bucks. Wish I wouldve known all this before becoming a member.

If you need to move or need to do anything outside of ARC policy, they make it laborious. This is a for profit business that is not focused on customer service. While the salt water pool is nice and the locker rooms are clean, it is hard to get to and from, and ARC would not survive in a bigger city for the lack of attention to detail and their sticky membership packages.

No consideration for full tier members overpriced, over sells all weekend tennis courts of to usta leagues. Swimming pool has a no lap lanes its used as kiddie pool all the time, parking over fills in weekends due to hotel crown plaza

Good pool that the whole family cab swim in, with one labe reserved for lappers. Serviceable hot tub. Some food items available for purchase. Locker room (mens) clean and functional.
