This is going to be the best of all the O² locations and let me quickly and easily explain why--It has to be. And I use the term "best" very lightly as Im comparing it, mostly, to the other O² locations. In the grand scheme of gyms and fitness, this place ranks below average. Anyway... Life Time is just a paper plane throw away. When it opened, this O² suffered greatly, but it is on its way back, albeit at a place that would make Vidalia, Georgia, look like a fast paced city. First, this O² location has more equipment than Life Time and has a marginally better layout. It also has an outdoor training area, albeit a little weathered and rustic & rusty looking. It was just cheaper for O² to retrofit the outdoor dining area that the outdoor training area occupies rather than to try and make it into anything else. Staff at this O² are mostly golden and a huge contrast from Life Times holier than thou staff who probably barely break minimum wage. I spoke with the PT manager, Brandon, earlier and whoever hired him did a good job. Anyway, this gym has a very good selection of TechnoGym and I even saw some old "friends" that I hadnt seen since Equinox (from the TG Select range); and by "friends" Im talking certain machines. The TechnoGym Kinetic machines are no longer here; I guess they decided the lease payments were too high! Unfortunately, like any quickly retrofitted retail space, this was not designed as a gym; the poor air circulation is indicative of that. While observing the trainers, I didnt notice anything terrible or alarming. They all have good energy and watch their clients for good form. Again, this is in huge contrast to the suicidally boring and complacent trainers you would see at O²s Cary location. The clientele are leaps and bounds better than the crowd that I used to see at Life Time. I neednt go into too much detail there as itll just become a long and drawn out ramble session about miserable and abysmal people. (The locker room alone gets ZERO stars and that would be fitting for all O² locations.) While the locker room does show signs of a poorly planned, low cost contractor or a first time do-it-yourselfer, it seems to be holding up for now. There are only three showers, and sometimes there is a wait. Said showers also lack proper drainage in the "dry" portion and its disgusting and hazardous. The sauna appears to be able to breach the 100° F mark without problems and looks to be in decent shape; this is in comparison to the pitiful sauna at O²s Cary location. The most comical thing at most O² locations is the poor 1980s residential grade plumbing installation: If youre taking a shower and one toilet is flushed, get ready for a sudden drop in pressure and a surge in temperature. If a sink is running and a toilet or urinal is flushed... The water pretty much goes off in the shower. Finally, parking is all around the building and on the street in front of the building. Theres a Rite-Aid next door for any emergency drinks, pills or food items you may need. Unlike the nearby Life Time, which criminals love visiting for easy car break-ins, this gym allows you to park your car within easy view during your workout.

They tend to frequently forget to update their schedule online. It was not updated to reflect todays schedule, this caused confusion for multiple members today as the gym closed at 12:00 today and multiple people showed up for the 12:05 spin class. The members and I rechecked the schedule to verify if it had been updated online for the Falls Location and it had not. They did point out that they made a paper flyer update and left it at the front desk, but this does not help the people who do not show up every day but only show for the classes. In addition I have noticed a huge decline in the spin equipment, I have made multiple requests at all locations to have repairs done, but the problems still exists (e.g. seats torn, pedal straps torn, seats wont lock in, handles and seats jammed). I have been a member for over 1.5 years and I hear the same complaints from multiple people. I do love the spin instructors, they are friendly and approachable including the front desk staff. This review is not against the staff but more to fix a process and equipment. Updated review: I previously left a 2 star, but after talking with the assistant manager at Falls of Neuse I am changing my review to a 1 star. I called today to see if the schedule was correct and what time they would be closing and they said 7 (typical closing time for Friday is 9) and I explained that it does not reflect that online or on the schedule. I also inquired about the spin class at 6 and the assistant manager said that they are not having it today. I told her that it still shows on the schedule, she said it is not on the schedule and reflects correct on the website. I pulled up the website and it is still there, I explained this and she told me I was looking at the wrong schedule, that I needed to look at the group x schedule because it is the main schedule and to go by it. Note: there are 3 separate schedules on 3 separate tabs next to each other with all conflicting information. So how am I supposed to know which one to go by? There is no information on the webpage to tell you which is the master schedule and which one to go by! I tried to find them on the BBB website and could not find them otherwise I would leave a complaint there as well. I did find the other O2 fitness locations on the BBB website and with over 42 complaints at the downtown location with D- rating O2 is losing its reputation. You really have to work hard to get that kind of rating. In addition to my previous post about the equipment issue. I was told that they were aware they have an equipment issue and do not know how long it will take to repair or come up with a new fix and it could take some time to fix the equipment (note: some of the equipment has had the same issues for over a year, with no fix). Do you not understand the whole purpose of your gym is to have good functional equipment? That is what the customer pays for. FIX IT! The only reason I am a member and continue to stay a member is the mere convenience of multiple locations in the same area with the same classes at multiple times.

The facility itself is beautiful and certainly what you pay for as part of your membership. Pretty expensive gym compared to others. The trainers at this location are out of this world. Very skilled and knowledgable. Corporate seems to be a group of people that really dont know what they are doing. A few times I was double charged for my training package and had to wait for the money to be returned. From then on I only paid with cash. However, my issues are geared more towards the other members and management. There were a number of clients that made it known that this gym is for "Whites Only". I have never been made more uncomfortable than when I joined O2. I let the first incident slide because "one apple shouldnt spoil the bunch" but when I saw the non chalant attitude of the manager I knew that this was my problem and my problem only. He never did anything about the harrassment that I was receiving. I literally mean I was being harrassed! One went as far as to leave a note on my car! After two years of training with my wonderful trainer I thought it would be best for me not to workout here any longer. For any of you considering joining this gym be advised that you can be a personal training client only without having to join the gym. As stated previously, the trainers there are phenomenal. I just wouldnt become a member.
