STUDIO: SJ Hair Studio is located in the historic Delendrecies Department Store building in downtown Fargo. Its corner location and large windows afford clients a summertime view of Fargos old train depot and its park of trees, bricked walkways, and fountain. In winter, the scene changes to the green of snowy pine trees and holiday lights. The studio itself is open and airy and coffee is always available. HAIR STYLIST: Lon Reinertson has been my hair stylist for over 15 years. Ive never had a bad cut, his scalp massages are famous, hes personable, considerate, and professional, and hes just a kind person. As Ive observed the other stylists, including the studios proprietor, Sonja Myhre, it is obvious that SJ Hair Studio has a loyal clientele, both men and women. My partner and a friend are Lons clients, too, and a colleague is Sonjas client. All of us continue to go to SJ Hair Studio because of the consummate artistry and techniques of the stylists. AVEDA CONCEPT SALON: SJ Hair Studio is an Aveda Concept Salon. This means that they not only carry Aveda products but that Aveda gives special attention to the needs of the salon. The selection of hair care items is second to none. RECOMMENDATION: I can easily recommend SJ Hair Studio--in the strongest terms--because of the total experience. Ive never been disappointed, and I have picky and demanding standards when it comes to my hair. Of the salons Ive frequented over the years, from Kansas City to Denver, from Santa Barbara to Minneapolis, SJ Hair Studio has been the best, consistently, and I heartily recommend them to anyone looking for consummate hair care.

I got a pedicure and a manicure from this salon. The pedicure was great. They have a very relaxing pedicure station and the staff is so friendly. The manicure was the same in service quality, the professional who did my pedicure was different from the professional who did my manicure. The nail technician who did my manicure was friendly and professional. However, my manicure looked sloppy. She also did nothing for my cuticles, only filed my nails (which I could have done) and painted them (which I could have done). It would have been better had I stayed home and done my nails myself. Im having a friend re-do my nails because I am a bridesmaid in a wedding and I want to look my best. My bad manicure may be exclusive to the woman who did it, her name is Sonja but sadly she is the owner of the salon. It is a lovely place and I will mostly likely return for a pedicure. But, I recommend asking for Catherine if you plan on getting a manicure.

LOVE THIS PLACE!! Im new to the Fargo area and I am very impressed with SJ Salon....actually excited! Very professional and educated Stylists. (I was a Stylist in the past myself) The owner was so hospitable, kind and friendly. Loved visiting with her! Very beautiful and relaxing atmosphere...lovely historic building downtown Fargo. This is an Aveda concept Salon and it is fabulous! Lon cut and styled my hair.... I cannot express more how PHENOMENAL he is!!!! Ladies and gentlemen.... this is the place to come to if you want to walk out feeling like million bucks! Lon is a true artist! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I have been coloring my hair since I have been 13 years old (I am not 19) and today I went to SJ Hair Studio and had the worst experience I could have had. The staff was rude and whispering to each other talking poorly about other customers in the store. One older couple came in the store looking to get a trim for the older man and the wife mentioned to the lady working she didnt want to pay that much $$ for a trim, and as they were leaving the lady made a "tight asses" comment.. I only got my hair colored (which turned out horribly and is a terrible disaster at the moment) and they charged me $110. The girl who colored my hair was rough, sloppy, and careless. NEVER going back to SJ Hair Studio!!!!!

Worst haircut experience ive ever had. She didnt even wash all of the conditioner out of my hair, so it had a greasy look when she was finished and i had to wash it out when i got home. She barely spent any time on the cut itself, im so glad only asked for a trim and not something drastic. Not at all what I was expecting from this place, very unprofessional and over priced.

I have very thin hair and I asked for a trim. I got my hair cut by Alexa and she used SHEARS for "texture" on my thin hair and started to give me a frame even though I specifically asked her not to?!! Used a blow dryer with a teasing comb instead of a round brush?!! Ive been growing my hair out to get it all one length for 4 years. Only 4 years left to reach my goal, then...
