In one word if I had to quantify this facility, "unbelievable" and not in a good way. My wife and I came in on a Saturday afternoon to take a tour of the facility and see what the membership rates were. Prior to our visit, wed gone to LA Fitness on Hamilton Road to see what they offered as well. When we were speaking with the fitness associate, he told us to stay away from Lifetime due to the high likelihood that the rates would be higher than theirs. I appreciated the closing attempt, but still wanted to shop around. Now, back to Lifetime... As my wife and I were waiting, the facility was very clean and the selection in the cafeteria they have was nice. Then we were approached by Cindy Heck. She was the person who was to assess our fitness aspirations and go over their packages. From the very beginning of the conversation, she came off as disingenuous and a "going through the motions" type of employee. There were many long pauses in the conversation as if she couldnt relate to us and was forcing herself to continue speaking. She told us that wed take a tour of the facility and shed give us lunch on the house. We were surprised by this and thought this was starting off pretty well despite the initial interaction. We get into her office and the conversation is going smoother at this point, until she decided to go off course into a discriminatory diatribe of non-Lifetime fitness members. Wed told her that we used to be with Urban Active before LA Fitness acquisition. (Keep this in mind) She tells my wife and I that we look like Lifetime members already. We were confused. She said that we were both good looking and that we would fit in well at Lifetime. I was perturbed, because last I checked, when you go to workout, youre not concerned about fitting in, youre concerned about getting fit. She said, "You should see the people who come in here sometimes, with their pants sagging and they look dirty too. The kind of people that would work out at Planet Fitness/LA Fitness." Her "smart" sales pitch actually betrayed her own ignorance. I mentioned earlier that we used to work out at Urban Active (now LA Fitness) so she insulted us right to our face. What does a Lifetime Fitness member look like? I thought people from all walks of life came together in one place to achieve their personal goals. I guess Lifetime Fitness is a class based society where you have to look the part to participate. She then goes into the monthly rate of $116.00. Since she revealed her own discriminatory thoughts I thought it wise to test her just to see her reaction. My wife and I said that this was outside of our budget (which it wasnt) and she rolled her eyes! Such poor customer service!! The root of the matter is money with Lifetime Fitness. Sure, its a business and youre in it to make money, but when you treat people badly before youve even gotten to know them, based only on what they look like, you reveal how ugly you are. She is a disgusting person and she has no respect for people or her work place. Case in point, a workout partner brought her a shake and when she took the straw out of the wrapper, she threw it on the floor instead of the trash can right next to her. To whoever reads this at Lifetime: You just PERMANENTLY lost a customer with a LOT of connections who will recount this story to any and everyone. You do yourself a mighty disservice by having Cindy Heck be the front line of your company, unless, thats who you are to begin with. STAY AWAY FROM LIFETIME FITNESS!!!

Ive been reading the reviews on this site and wanted to put my two cents in, as my own experience here has been vastly different. Admittedly I have not been in the position of cancelling my membership at any time recently (Ive been a member THIS time since November 2011) although I did do so once several years ago -- Id joined right after they opened the Easton Lifetime, then two years later when I moved to the other side of town it was no longer convenient so I dropped out. I did not experience any problems in that process--I signed a form, they took it out one extra month as per the agreement I signed when I joined, and that was the end of it. I think the 30-day clause is pretty standard among gyms at least here in Columbus, even the ones that advertise as "month to month" state that they will take out an extra month at the end so people who read what they sign know that going in. I again state that I have not had to test this recently so the policies may have changed, but that was my experience when I had to drop out. The personnel I have dealt with at this gym have gone out of their way to take a personal interest in me. WIthout exception theyve gone way above and beyond anywhere else I have ever worked out, and in the last 30 years I think Ive been a member at every gym in this town for some period of time, many of which (Ballys, Scandinavian) are no longer around. I credit my personal trainer and the nutrition counselor that met with me during my Team training (which I got free for two months by joining back up and highly recommend it, it was amazing!!) for helping me to completely change my lifestyle and become a much healthier person. My trainer in particular is awesome--hes got that personality that really makes you want to give it your all. He and Laura, the nutritionist, know me by name and bend over backwards to help me out with any issues even giving me their personal email addresses and phone numbers in case I have a problem. Everyone from the front desk folks to the people folding towels, has been polite and helpful any time Ive needed to ask for help--in one instance, I lost my locker key and didnt realize it til I came out of the shower dripping wet with nothing but a towel. It could have been a nightmare, but between three people they got me into my locker within just a few minutes time. The equipment here is state of the art, theres lots of it and Ive rarely had to wait for a machine except during January and February. And its very well maintained. The bathrooms are exquisite--in fact I prefer showering there to my own house, the water pressure is better! I wanted to post at least one positive experience about this gym for those persons who may be considering joining. Yes, its more costly than some in town, but I believe the rewards are definitely worth the money!

Im a former member at this easton location gym I got my membership canceled via email after some guy pulled a knife out on me because he said he had next in line for the pick up basketball game that was going on and me and other guys were telling him he wasnt so everyone freaked out when they saw he had a knife couple of his friends grabbed and talked to him to just leave for the day because if the cops came he would have been In a bigger trouble. So I went to the front desk and gave them the description of the guy and they didnt even make it a big deal so I just went back to playing basketball and an officer came in and I told him what happened and he said he will check with the coordinators. The guy finally came back almost a week later and I went to the front desk to let them know he is here and they need to do something about it. There was 2 young guys working at this time because its around 11 at night and they tell me there arent any managers at the moment and to comeback tomorrow or call the cops on him myself. I didnt call the cops because I didnt want to create a crazy scene at the gym and then the gym assuming I was responsible for all the problems. so after my workout I just went home. The next day I got an email saying that my membership was canceled and didnt mention a reason why. I called them and front desk couldnt tell me why so they transferred me to one of the managers on duty. She asked me to explain to her what happened and when I got done telling her about everything she said said when ever we have issues like this both people who are involved are both going to have their memberships canceled. When I asked to speak with someone above her or someone in corporate she said they all work for me. Instead of focusing on my complaint she just wasnt even showing any kind of respect. But what did I do to deserve to have a knife threatened towards me? Did fight back or bring another weapon? No I did what I was supposed to do and reportEd the incident and now I Im in the same boat as the guy who pulled a knife on me? Moral of the story is lifetime is ghetto bunch of cowards who all think they are tough and looking for trouble make up majority of the members at easton location if thats the kind of gym you want then go ahead
