Contracted with Alba for a large apron in front of a new garage. Difficult getting the project started prior to winter due to lack of communication. Al Sluga talks a good game, but is totally unresponsive in resolving any issues. Once project started, they made arbitrary decision to not install metal reinforcing and instead planned on using fiberglass. I had to show contract to installers to get them to comply with contract. Was told decision made by VP of Construction. I have a brick drive and they used buggys to bring material from street. Well, numerous places on the brick they spilled concrete material. The VP of Construction promised to have it power washed, but never had it done, and never returned my followup calls. They also made the concrete too high where it meets the brick drive, so there is a huge bump. Paid extra for a colored smoke finish but it is not what we paid for. They continuously pulled workers off my job to go to other job sites. At the end, they left one guy to stay and level off and finish up. Not happy with finish at all. Wavy in some spots and broom finish inconsistent. Would not use them again nor recommend them to anyone. There are to many other good contractors to choose from .

I cant speak to the negative comments posted on Albas web site, but I can say I am a retired Board of Building Standards Building Official with 0ver thirty years of building trades experience. I hired Alba Construction to water proof two of my basement walls that were seeping water into my finished basement, the crew showed up on the scheduled day for the work to begin, I watched over the work as it progressed and was not surprised to see the work being done pursuant to the contract I signed. On day two we had three inches of rain that caused the work to be postponed for a day. When the work started back up the west wall of the trench had caved in all over the new schedule 30 drain tile. I asked the workers what they were going to do and without hesitation they agreed they would have to hand dig the two truck loads of dirt out from on top of the new drain tile. Needless to say the cave in cost Alba several hours of labor and a truck load of washed gravel to satisfy my concerns! They proceeded without hesitation and completed the work and cleaned up after themselves. On a scale of ten I would give this company a nine.

12000 dollar job, the did it in the rain got concrete all over the house. Never came back to even remove forms from porch. The pitch on the rear of my pull over pudding water directly on the plate of my shed. The walkway to the house isnt square noticed by everyone. I was charged extra to widen the mouth of the pullover witch they didnt do. I have sent several Emails to Alba and no response to my request to even come and look at my complaints. Avoid Alba, as they seem to only care about collecting money and nothing about customers satisfaction.

I hired Alba during summer 2015 to replace my garage, waterproof my basement and a new driveway. They did a great job and were easy to deal with. Of course there was a couple minor hiccups in a large job like this but they were always professional, work turned out great and price stayed the same. Next time I need work done I will definitely give them a shot. They arent the cheapest, but you dont want the cheap guy working on your home.

Al came out to assess my garage foundation today. His assessment matched what I paid a Structural Engineer to assess. Both Al and the SE only recommend tuck pointing, which is a minimal cost, and Al confirmed that there were no major structural issues. Al is an honest contractor and Id highly recommend him.

ALBA Contractors were professional and personable from the estimate through completion. Al and his crew did a great job on the driveway and we are very pleased with the experience.
