Nine months ago a friend told me to check out the free Saturday class at MTM and my workouts and body have never been the same! I had been a runner for several years and quickly discovered that the endurance I thought I had was pretty much non-existent in the CrossFit arena. After that I knew I’d be back on Monday for the two-week Beginner Class. This class is a MUST for anyone starting out! Not all gyms offer it and MTM does a fantastic job of teaching the movements and preparing you for your first WOD. Expect to see results at MTM! I used to spend hours cross training with boot camps, kickboxing, spinning, P90X…all trying to lose fat, gain muscle and PR at my next race….none of which happened until I began CrossFit. The programming at MTM is challenging and superior. All WODS are scaleable, and Owner, Dave McDonald constantly varies the movements so the same body part isn’t being worked every day. MTM WODS are designed to further your fitness, regardless of what your goals may be. I can honestly say that when I first started at MTM I considered myself a runner, now I feel like an athlete. Don’t waste time doing the same things, that haven’t given you the results you want…check out MTM!

I can honestly say no other physical activity has ever reshaped my body like CrossFit. I was a marathon runner when I came to MTM CrossFit 10 months ago and in, what I thought was, the best physical condition a person could be in. I was diagnosed with a stress fracture to my tibia bone after I ran the Chicago marathon so I decided to take a break from running and instead focus on some good cross training. I never dreamed when I returned to racing that I would continue to PR but with only having to do a fraction of the training. CrossFit makes you stronger and faster at any sport you participate in. At MTM you will find superb training from Dave MacDonald – required beginners classes which are invaluable as you learn all the new movements of CrossFit – and an amazing community of people who support, encourage and inspire you to accomplish things you never imagined you could. I have lost fat, gained muscle, become more tone and have more energy at age 45 than I did in my 20’s. If you’re hesitating to check out MTM CrossFit, don’t. I only wish I would have found it sooner.

The prescription is “constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement.” Functional movements are universal motor recruitment patterns, multi joint compound movements. The methodology that drives CrossFit is entirely empirical, safety, efficacy, and efficiency. The three most important and interdependent facets of any fitness program, can be supported only by measurable, observable, repeatable facts, i.e., data. I did four group wods here over a two week time span. I am not from the area and was in town for business. The trainers and members at MTM were super friendly and helpful. I have only been to a few crossfit group classes but have been lifting for over 20 years. I do alot of bootcamp classes back home and do triathlons now and then. The classes were challenging and the trainers make sure you are using correct form. After two of the 6:30 p.m. classes, the trainers hung out with me a few extra minutes to give me pointers on doing kipping pull ups. Overall this is great gym and it has a positive atmosphere. If you are just passing through or live in the area I highly recommend checking this place out.

I have been working out at MTM for about 10 months and love it! CrossFit is a fantastic way to build strength both inside and out. Integrating weights, gymnastics moves, high intensity (yet scaled to each individuals performance level) and low duration has delivered exceptional results for me. Plus, the MTM gym atmosphere, although not fancy, is totally supportive and genuine. Our trainer/ owner, Dave, is a true advocate for each of us. If youve ever considered CrossFit, MTM has a place for you. Plus, the Saturday WOD is free! Give it a try.
