Let me start off by saying this isnt a bad gym if youre just starting out, but if youre serious about the gym or getting back into shape, youre better off going to LA Fitness or another franchise gym. This simply just wont do it for people seriously into bodybuilding. There are 3 memberships, 10 dollars/month for a year commitment, 15 with no commitment, and 20 dollars (black card) with a year commitment which will let you bring guests and use other planet fitness gyms. There is a 40 dollar fee with all memberships once a year and if youre in a commitment and cancel early, youre going to pay 60 bucks. Typically the memberships have a 50 dollar start up fee as well, except for the black card. Staff is friendly overall and management is fine, but some of them are pretty young and immature. They mean well but theyre not the best. A lot of them dont even use the gym, which is confusing because it would seem youd want people who represent fitness as your staff. PLEASE NOTE: if you are not that serious into lifting, or are only interested in doing cardio so you can lose weight or are hurting on cash, then this gym is fine. But there is no free bar (only smith machines) to do bench, deadlifting or squats so if youre into bodybuilding or powerlifting dont go here. The equipment simply wont cut it. The "dropping wieght" policy and lunk alarm are also pretty ridiculous, even the slightest sound will make the staff come up to you to tell you to not drop weight. So if youre even half serious about fitness, go across the street to LA. Dumbbells here only go up to 75 pounds and like I said, there are no free bars. So Dumbbells are your only free weights. The one really good thing about this place is you will get unlimited access to the fitness training classes they have and the trainer on staff who is really smart and knowledgable. Granted the classes are free and not individual so you get what you pay for, but he is there to help you and knows his stuff. Tanning beds come with the black card, and they sell lotion there (it is overpriced, 75-100% markup). They get a lot of users though. Overall if youre in high school and are just starting lifting, have injuries that eliminate big lifts from your routine, financially struggling or are retired, this gym is fine. The crowd is mostly high school kids and older couples. I just warn you to not go if youve got any interest into being serious about fitness.

If you are looking for a social experience with tanning, pizza and massage chairs, and nothing more, this is the place for you. I had been happily working out here without a problem for almost a year. When I lift, I SET (not drop) the weights on the floor when I am finished, and naturally they make a soft "thump," and have consistently observed others doing the same. I have done this for the entire year without so much as a disapproving look from the staff. Today, I set a personal record and benched the 75 pound dumbbells. Like any other day, I SET (not dropped) the weights down on the floor with the usual soft "thump". The lunk alarm sounded and I was not informed I was the reason it was set off. I didnt even know it was me, as I hadnt done anything different. I continued my workout. 2 minutes later, the girl at the front desk walked up and asked me if I dropped the weights. I told her no, I didnt. She then asked me to set them down more quietly. I asked if she had ever tried setting a weight that size down without it making a sound. As she stood there dumbfounded, the guy she worked with walked up and asked if she was fine, as though I was giving her some kind of trouble. He then proceeded to explain to me that I shouldnt drop weights, to which I responded that I hadnt, and gave him the same simple physics lesson I had given his coworker. He then suggested I "lift something lighter" if I couldnt set it down "more politely." Pardon me, but for a judgement free zone, you seem to be awfully biased against people who seek to improve their bodies and push themselves. I will be returning to the original location when the doors open tomorrow and cancelling my membership, and if you plan on working out and not just "exercising" Id suggest you do the same.

Honestly if I could rate this gym a zero I would, this is coming from someone who has always abided by the rules at planet fitness even though I thought some were stupid. I worked out at the gym for about a year before I switched gyms to next level fitness in Deland which is an amazing gym and truly 24/7 but the reason I came back to the gym is because I wanted to workout with my roommate and he works out there. We finally reached the 75 pound dumbbells for a chest press and could you guess what happened? Yep, the lunk alarm went off because they stated that my roommate let the weight down a little too loud, now I would not have a problem with them doing this except for the fact he has been dropping the weight like that for the past 6 months and they never said a word until he got to the 75 pound weights. If youre going to make a rule hold to It, but thats not the worst part, I could care less about working out at planet fitness I have 2 other memberships at other gyms, the issue I have is that I asked to cancel my membership, someone who never did anything wrong ever for the 2 years he worked out there and the employee told his co-worker she doesnt owe me an explanation as to why she cannot cancel my membership. Im sorry but if Im paying money you do owe me an explanation as to why I cant cancel my membership and you have to tell me how I can cancel It. Ill be showing up again in the morning to cancel my membership and make a complaint to the owner. I dont expect the employee to be fired but I do expect an apology for the way he acted to a rule abiding customer of 2 years.

Ive never attended planet fitness before, and I was going to do it with my gma but she went to the YMCA so we never went. Now Im pregnant and I cant afford to pay planet fitness. They have made me over draft so many times now. I signed up for $21 a month and now just today they took over $40 out of my account! I cant afford this and they will not let me cancel my account. I see all the time on the tv were they say they have no commitment there and you can leave anytime. Thats false advertisement. Im getting that 40 back. It wasnt apart of any agreement I made with them. And if Ive never gone why is it such a problem to cancel it!?!?

i have had my membership for quite some time when i signed my contract they told me it was a 2 year contract so i was told by one of the employees. come to find out it reinstates every year until i cancel if i didnt look at my billing statement i would have never known. the guy on the phone when i was asking about it was very rude. shows how there employees are that work at orange city planet fitness. i know i should have read the contract but the lady was nice at the time and i felt like i could trust her. never again will i let my self had.
