I have experienced positive and negative experiences at OU learning center. I would like to start off with saying this is one of the best child care facilities located in Norman, at least for what I have seen and experienced the past 3 years of living in Norman. Positive experiences (3-5 years) - lots of play time inside/outside - offers extra learning opportunities such as courses for phonetics, mathematics, and music. ($250/month on top of weekly childcare payments) -my child has increased artistically and draws/paints almost everyday -my child has a personal connection with her teachers -my child practices writing her first name frequently - children are rewarded for good behehavior, and my childs manners have improved Negative experiences - my child has came home with a bruised head WITHOUT me even being called when the incident happened NOR an accident report written. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE when a head injury occurs - whether it is a minor injury - my child complained of pain after we returned home for the day. - the front desk lady and the main office lead, seem rather unfriendly, when I enter the facility I am almost never welcomed whether it is morning or the afternoon. Rarely do we make eye contact or has a simple conversation. To me this affects the overall quality of the facility, I feel rather dismayed about the interactions with the front staff. - lacking in details of curriculum outline, such as they give you a list of what the curriculum will entail however not a detailed schedule of how the curriculum will be taught each week - I question the qualifications and lessons of the "extra" academic opportunities of the instructor. - if there is severe weather, and Norman is entailed to a Tornado Warning, the children will be loaded on to a bus and transferred to a building located on the most North side of campus. Where as the learning center is on the south side of campus. I dislike my child could potentially be transported during severe weather to a location I do not know specifically - NO SAFE ROOM FOR SEVERE WEATHER. Overall I have had an okay experiences, but I think the facility could improve communication wise. My child more recent has mentioned how much she missed her "old school" which was an at home daycare. This suggests to me she is not having the greatest experience as well, but has little to no complaints after I pick her up. I would not like to discouraged you for placing your child into the care of the OU learning center, however do not expect to be welcomed or even acknowledged when you enter/leaving the building. Also do not expect to get accident reports as you would expect; not even a call when you child hits their head. Consider there is no storm shelter and children will have to be transported to a save building on OU campus (the physical science building), and who knows if you will get a call about that.. do expect your childs manners and behavior to improve, the rewards for being well mannered are key component to this. Expect your child artistically to be inclined, creativity is positive but also you will have an endless amount of art from you child. I would like to note, the negative experiences at this facility could most definitely be improved, however I dont see the action really being taken or even understood as a problem. Perhaps it is of my culture to be greeted and acknowledged entering and leaving a social setting, as this lacks in this specific setting, to be frank I feel disrespected. But also still dismayed not being contacted when an accidently injury (especially to the head) occurs with my child.

We chose OU Learning Center (KinderCare Learning Center) because it is very close to our apartment (Only two minutes by walk) and I can feed my son regularly, though it is said that it is bad (This center is the nearest one to our apartment, but only few parents will put their baby here). Until now, we are so disappointed about this center that we quitted last Friday. Below is our experiences, hoping it will help other parents to avoid this situation happened again. DON’T trust any words they said, especially the director’s words, except writing it down on the paper with legal signature. Before we put our baby in this center, we talked with the director that I will feed the baby every two hours and she said OK, and she didn’t tell us we had to take three bottles of breast milk in the morning, also they would call me when the baby is hungry. In the first month, they are very nice and call me as they promised (I also go there to feed my baby regularly). But after about one month, they said I had to bring at least three bottles of milk, otherwise they would lose the license (but even their district director didn’t know this rule, he just said I had to have a bottle of backup milk). So I did this except two times because I was sick and I took the formula instead. Last week, I were sick and I only took two 3ozs of milk and I also had an appointment with my Doctor, when the assistant director (maybe the second director) asked me the third bottle, I promised to get a formula within five minutes, but she said I couldn’t put the baby here and I had to take the baby back to bring the third bottle. My baby was sleeping, so I don’t want to disturb him again to walk to my apartment. But when I asked her for the official paper document for this rule, this lady disappeared. I think we should know the reason. DON’T trust the advertisement in this center! I saw a picture on the wall near the front door of my son’s classroom that they taught my son how to blow bubbles. But my baby did it two weeks ago by himself. So we pointed to the wall and ask them how to teach him, and they had no idea as we guessed because I never saw it during my every -two- hours- visits. Though they are national XXX, however, the director cursed me which I will be hitted by a car when I go back to my apartment to take the third bottle. Last Friday, the director answered my question why I had to take my baby back home to take the third bottle, she said in case you would hit by car when you went back and this happened. I guess she doubted the safety of the University of Oklahoma because the center and my apartment are in the same block of OU campus. I ask her to show accidents here, she was silent. Maybe I should ask the OU police to tell me the truth. Whatever your center is very, very, very excellent, but if you curse the baby’s parents and so unfriendly to our adults, how do we trust you that you will treat the baby nice?????? In addition to, the center changes their teachers so often, which make it harder for little kids to adjust.

Dont even know where to start I dont understand how this place is highly rated, I enrolled my baby there because I saw the good rates but overall: Place smells weird and when you pick up your baby, he’ll smell as weird as the place. The principal is not really friendly, neither her assistant, they will never let you know if you have other options in case they close (which you can have), no help either to make your life easier when paying the tuition (when I first started I was paying every Friday, latter she let me know I was behind because I was supposed to pay every Monday) Rotation with the teachers is CRAZY, you’ll pick your baby with someone new every time or you will be looking in every classroom until you find your child. Saying this, if your baby has special feeding needs, forget about them they wont be followed because there is always someone different who has no clue about this. I’ve checked many other daycares and this is by FAR the most expensive. Is supposed to be a learning center but I barely saw pictures of my kid doing any activities, and in the sheets they report everything many times was just blank. They check diapers every 2 hours for sure you’ll get diaper rash once in a while (other places is every hour). And the worst of all my baby got sick EVERY week in there, there was not a single week I didn’t receive a call asking me to pick my baby up (sometimes I was even called on Tuesday! And they will still charge the whole week). I know when a kid starts daycare they get sick but this was NOT normal! The three months she was there she was always sick (I think they don’t clean very well) And that stopped when I took her out of that place.
