Im surprised this gym has such high ratings online. I can only think that friends and members were coerced into writing nice reviews. Ive been competing in and coaching crossfit for years now. I have encountered dozens of people that have left Okie, not just being discontent but disgusted with the way things are run and the attitude of the owner. I hadnt met the owner myself until recently and decided to talk to him myself and make my own judgements. I was literally shocked by his blatant rudeness. His gym was running a competition. I know that owners are stressed to the max during these events. I kept an eye on him and waited until he appeared to be free and approached him and said, "Hi! Are you Jake?" He raised his eyebrows at me and then looked away. I then said, "You know my personal coach and I was interested in discussing a part time membership to your gym when you have some free time" his response was "IM BUSY". I said, "ok thats fine, when your free Id love to visit it with you." He rolled his eyes and turned away. I later went to the womens bathroom and encountered him waltzing in to change out the paper towels with a bathroom full of women and girls, and then chatting with the long line of women waiting. I talked to a coach at the gym later and inquired about open gym time and hours. He was very nice. I expressed that I had tried to talk to the owner earlier and that hed been ungracious and rude. The coach just sighed and goes, "Yah, we get that a lot. Hes always like that." I understand people having bad days and being stressed. However, the stories Ive heard about the owner of this gym, the poor programming, and then my own personal experience with the owner ensures that I will never waste my time or money there.

I joined Okie CrossFit about a year and a half ago. Over that time, I have lost more than 65-75 lbs, have gain new strength I never knew I could have, have created friendships and have become a better person all the way around. The coaches truly care for you and what your goals are. Jake has built an incredible facility and coaching team that has brought something truly special to the fitness community of Tulsa. The atmosphere is ALWAYS encouraging. The loudest cheers are always for the last people to finish. There are clinics for different movements you need to work on, nutritional classes, goal setting classes and more. There is even a WOD & Worship session on Thursday nights for people who are of faith or want to find faith to come together as a community and workout. This idea shows me that Okie CrossFit is more than a gym that wants you to look good and feel good. The community wants you to become a better you from the inside out. Anyone can participate and grow here is they truly try. Thanks Jake & co. for the help in changing me for the better. I am forever grateful.

Okie crossfit has changed my life. After blowing out my knee, and being over weight I decided I needed to change my life. A friend recommended going to his crossfit box, I thought long and hard about it. I had mentioned it to people before I started, and all I heard was that it dangerous or Im going to get hurt. I thought to myself, well just because it wasnt for them doesnt mean I couldnt do. I joined Okie Crossfit in September 2015 weighing 240lbs and was a tight size 38. Now February 2016 Im at 183Lbs at 15% BF and down to a size loose 30. The coaches at this box are incredible. They are very welcoming, helpful, encouraging, knowledgeable, CERTIFIED, caring, and just want you better yourself. Jake has done a phenomenal picking coaches to work for him that give his box the name it has today. The people are excellent not clicky no one is stuck up and this place isnt full of incredible hulks walking everywhere. So if youre in the Tulsa area and want to try something new, fun, SAFE, and exciting Come drop in our box. You wont regret it

Ive been at Okie for almost a year and a half and am just getting around to writing this. Okie is a different gym...in every single positive way. Rarely do you step into a gym where you feel that the coaching/management really do have your best interest in mind. Check your egos at the door as well because the programming is tailored to EVERY LEVEL of athlete. If you are working to get your first sit up, to your first muscle up, the coaches have the knowledge and experience to make sure you push yourself to levels to get better but most of all....stay safe. This gym also offers something I think is unique. We...and I say We for a reason - are a community. We at Okie push each other, keep each other accountable and most off all - ENCOURAGE no matter what you are doing. The cheers for a push up and a muscle up sound no different. If you are looking for a place to bro out and show out....move on. Not the gym for you. If you are looking to make life changes, get stronger, get educated and build community. This gym IS for you.

I began with Okie at the end of August, 2015. I needed to get back into a great workout routine- I was beginning my final semester of graduate school and working so I needed a place I could "take a break" from the hard part of my day. Yes, Crossfit at Okie has become the easy part of my day and I was always looking forward to my time there. Since August, I have made new friends, lost weight, changed my diet- overall, my life has been more enjoyable since I am able to balance my hectic graduate school life with less anxiety. Every coach at Okie is welcoming, helpful, confident in their athletes and genuinely CARES for EACH persons successes (small or large). Okie has always felt like a big family to me, we all encourage each other during the WODs and even help each other during any extra credit work! If you are looking for a Crossfit gym to call home, look no further.

At just four sessions in to a six-week Crossfit Challenge for ladies, Im very pleased with how Coach Jake has addressed some challenges I face being a 50-something menopausal female who has had a desk job for 40 years. I feel supported where I need support, and very challenged when I need to be challenged (trust me on that!) This makes me confident that while it may be at a slower pace, I will get to where I want to be sooner rather than later, and do so safely. Im following the nutrition advice also, and although I was already a "clean" healthy eater, I found plenty of areas where I could kick it up a notch. I know Im in the right place at Okie Crossfit and will be one strong, sexy beast before you know it, LOL.

I started working out at Okie Crossfit last summer and it has been a fantastic experience. Before I joined I was diagnosed with a condition called fatty liver which is a symptom of cirrhosis. Every 6 months I have to go to the hospital and get a ultrasound. last week I went to the hospital and about 3 days after that I got a phone call from my nurse and she said my liver was just fine. Anyway I asked her again to talk to the Doc and make sure so she called me back the next day and said that she had never seen this happen but I no longer am fatty liver. My point is is that Okie Crossfit probably added at least 10 years to my life. Thank you Jake!
