2009 was the last time I visited The Retreat. I had my manicure with Richard. He did a single coat of polish, said it would be fine and literally ran to his next appointment. It was peeling by the next day. I only do this for myself twice a year so I was quietly angry and told myself Id never return. Well, it is Friday, Sept 3 and I want simultaneous manicures with my young daughter before middle school starts on Wednesday. I tried to get two apts simultaneously at several other salons in Corvallis for next Tuesday but couldnt. Being out of options I checked The Retreat and liked that I can make my appointments w/them on-line. I was able to avoid Richard (actually cant believe hes lasted). I am not familiar with the two ladies I chose online (Raesha and Audrey) but this visit will be my make-it or break-it for The Retreat. I will write about my experience.

went to get a cut and color and the woman i saw didnt have the time to really make sure my color was as good as it should be. when i left the salon, i was very satisfied with the overall color, but not the fact that my roots were lighter than the rest of my hair. some parts of the underside of my hair were also a little lighter. i ended up having to pay 101 dollars (!) for something i wasnt completely satisfied with and the color is fading extremely fast. ive even been careful about how often i wash it. I would go back and have her redo it, but i dont want to (and really cant) pay the 65 dollars i would get charged for it. the lady was really nice and helpful, i just wish she had more time. she was aware of the lighter roots, etc. and told me to call if i ended up being dissatisfied.. im thinking about it, just dont want to pay all over again. :-(

This place is cruel and doesnt care about customer satisfaction. My mom came into this place a few months back in search for a hair treatment. Her desired treatment was that her hair be dyed blonde. After they "did their job" they charged her full price at around 250-300 dollars and my mom left in tears. The treatment had turned her hair orange and she hated it. My sister then went into the establishment asking for them to fix it, but people didnt seem to care. There was no offer to fix it for discounted price and no discount for work that They messed up on. She left with orange hair instead of blonde and a bit of a self esteem blow; as well as a good chunk of money wasted. These people robbed my mom as she had to make another appointment with another establishment. I would give a zero rating if I could.

I went on their website before I made an appointment to see how much their haircuts were and it said $28. I made an appointment, had no trouble with the front desk, they were all very nice, got my hair cut, it took maybe 15 or 20 minutes altogether to wash cut and blow-dry (even though it was still damp when I left). When I went to pay they told me it was $36 for the haircut! I can understand if they did some sort of styling, or even blow dried it all the way but that seems like a little much for how little time it took. I wish the website was accurate, if it had been I would have at least been prepared to pay what I ended up having to, or I could have chosen another salon. If you go here make sure that you call for prices, the website is apparently not accurate.

Peg and Becky are both AWESOME LMTs, but it is nearly impossible to get through the appointment process to book time with either of them. Front desk staff are rude, snotty and completely inattentive. And this is not commentary based on one appointment. This is commentary based on at least 8 visits over the course of four months. Ive called - no exaggeration - SIX times in one day to try to book an appt and am continuously put on hold. Ive tried booking online only to be timed out. Ive tried. Ive tried. Ive tried. Sad to say goodbye to our massage therapists, but the customer service is too unbearable to continue at the Retreat.

I went to The Retreat and Jennifer L. gave me a VERY nice cut, color and style. She even taught me a great new way to style my hair. I went back to her for waxing and was equally satisfied. I recommend her for all of your hair and waxing needs. She is very polite and professional. She does an excellent job! I also bought some good products that she recommended and I have had many positive comments already!! Many are asking who does my hair (even strangers) and plan to go see her. Thank you Jennifer for making me look and feel beautiful.

I always receive TOP QUALITY treatments at the Retreat Day Spa! Ive had my hair cut here by various stylists, and have been very happy each time. The pedicures, manicures and facials are also great. My favorite thing about going to the Retreat is the FRIENDLY yet professional nature of the entire staff. I recently had the joy of taking my daughter to her first facial at the Retreat. She came away looking radiant and feeling beautiful and knowledgeable about her skin care. Thank you for providing a fabulous spa for our community!

BEWARE! I went there for the first time, which will be the last, for a cut and partial weave. After examining the prices online, I was prepared to spend far less than I ended up being charged. They will charge you the maximum price by default unless YOU ASK for the cheaper options! I find that manipulative, deceitful, and poor business practice. I dont know about you, but I dont want to give my money to people who gain financially from omitting information from their customers. DONT GO!

The quality of service depends on the employees basically, youll be styled differently according to the stylist. So no high expectations and ask for your favourite stylist for each time you are there. They will make mistakes and will schedule you on a wrong time. My recommendation for the spa is to call customers or better yet, send text messages as reminders for their appointments with timing and date specifications 2 days or 1 daybefore the appointment.

This establishment is locally owned but they act as if they are an airline... That is, they simply dont care about customer service. They apparently dont pay well and technicians rely on tips; no problem is ever their fault. On the separate occasions we have experienced problems and attempted to resolve amicably. However, The Retreat has resisted and balked. I do not recommend visiting this business.

Kristen is the Retreats hidden gem! I may not want to tell you how great she is because Im able to get an appointment within a day of calling. This is my second visit and she puts my nerves at ease and I leave with a fabulous cut and style! I have Asian hair and its difficult finding a stylist who knows how to cut and style my hair, but Kristen can do it. I give her 5+++++++ stars - SHE ROCKS!!!
