I just got my hair done, and I have no complaints. I am Sicilian, 3 tribes of Native American, Irish, and African American. My hair is thick, grows in different directions on the back curve of my head, and the texture is smooth but wavy with how short it is, and absolutely unmanageable if not cut correctly. Ive been having my hair done all my life by my sister, who is now a very well established hair/make-up artist. However she is unavailable right now.... so needless to say I was very nervous scheduling with a salon I have never stepped foot in before. Since the reviews here were good, I took the risk. My stylist (Suzette) was on time waiting for me as I arrived. Honestly, my nervousness skyrocketed when I saw she was white. I have no idea what I expected..... but Ive had horrible experiences with white women not understanding my type of hair (which is why Ive stayed with my sister). However, I NEEDED my hair done, so I continued to her seat with a deep breath. She examined my hair as I explained with pictures and descriptions how I wanted it (which I wasnt too sure of). I have a very trendy hairstyle where the sides are basically buzzed, with the top and back longer, which when it grew out, just looked mullet - ish and shaggy. Even though I am experimental with styles, Im very VERY picky about my hair. All I knew is that I needed it tight, clean, but still sexy. After a proper consultation, Suzette confidently snipped buzzed, re-evaluated, and continued step by step with my confirmation. As soon as she started my initial reaction was eased. I could tell she knew what she was doing. She did a FANTASTIC job of listening to precisely what I wanted, without making me feel like I was doing her job. She transformed the back mullet like shaggy - ness, into a very well blended stop to my longer thick wavy hair on top. Seemless. I was very impressed. She lined up the sides and along my ears perfectly. Clean but not boy-ish. She gave the top of my hair a nice flow that I will be able to style to the front or back, without destroying the integrity of the original cut from my sister. On top of all that, I had to bring my 4 year old daughter with me. Shes very well behaved, but still 4. So it was awesome when Suzette whipped out some toys for her to play with in the waiting area when the games on my phone stopped working. So yeah. Great experience. I would recommend her to anyone with hair texture like mine, and will definitely go back. Even instead of my sister.

From my wife: I went in to Sunrise Salon last Thursday for an appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told my stylist, Jessica, was running late. Her tardiness caused me to miss a subsequent makeup appointment for later that night before my big event. If I can make it on time and am paying you, you should make it on time as well. I am a cancer patient, and my hair is very important to me, as what little there is of it is grow out from radiation. I explained, very specifically, what I wanted it to look like, and got it cut and colored. After one wash, the color has begun to fade unevenly. The cut is so bad that friends have commented my hair looks much worse than when I went in. It is completely not what I asked for, and when I expressed how much I did not like it and began crying, she started cutting even more off. It is uneven in areas by several inches and much, much shorter than I asked. My partner called the salon three times in the last week, and was told messages would be left for the owner, and that he was the only one who could do anything, and would call back. He repeatedly never addressed the issue. My partner went up there today, to try to recoup our $100 loss so I could get my hair redone, and the owner himself was very unprofessional. He stated the stylist was the only one who could issue a refund, and refused to do anything about it whatsoever. I was instructed to waste MORE time and money and come to the salon again to speak with her personally. He said he has a day job and that this really isnt his problem. I have never been to a more unprofessional salon in my life. At this point, whether the refunds the money or not is not the issue. The issue is that even though he cannot manage to handle his business, I bet he will leave a nasty comment on this review, as hes done on others. Thats just sad. Pathetic excuse for a salon. Will be contacting Better Business Bureau, licensing boards, permitting office, and every review site there is. It is NOT OK to chop off a cancer patients hair against their will and then expect them to jump through hoops and still nothing is done. Disgusting. My hair looks masculine and terrible. I can send you before and after photos if you like. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE. Totally worth the drive into Portland if you dont want to leave in tears!

Really bad quality. The first time I went here was when they were by LA fitness. The lady made me wait 45min just talking with her previous customer. She did offer me a free cut the following week that she rushed through and left me looking like Cleopatra. This time, my hubby bought me certificates for style and nails for a surprise dinner (he didnt realize I didnt like this place) I was schedule for Sunday which is their day off, Jasmine (who was great) was already with a bride. I waited an hr before Shelly came in to do my nails. I felt once she found out what I did for a living, she didnt approve and didnt do her best work, which is very unprofessional. She cut my finger, my nails were uneven and sloppy, I asked for a simple straight line on top of the black and instead of suggesting ways to it could work, she was giving me every excuse as to why it wouldnt. I just gave up and said just do simple black. I was so glad to end the day with Jasmine. She did a good job on my hair and was very apologetic for running late with the bride. Unfortunately I didnt say anything to them because I felt bad that it was there day off and that my husband had already paid for it. I would not recommend this place, unless your working with Jasmine.

first off, i will say that everyone was very friendly...and the woman who did my pedicure was very nice and talkative....no issues there. i was disappointed at the lack of color choices for polish, and i am use to going to a place that had a nice comfy chair that massages your back, thighs, and arms while you get a pedicure...but the worst of it is... it did feel like she was "digging" too much while going around my toenails with the little metal scraper thing (sorry dont know what to call it), it hurt and i told her so. the next day my left big toe was in a lot of pain (and stayed that way for weeks) it was red and swollen and it hurt to wear shoes. that toenail stopped growing as well. i took off all the polish and you could see a huge difference in the way the toenail looked compared to the others...yellow and brittle. i finally got some foot fungus stuff from the store and my toenail is just barely getting back to normal a few months later. i dont know if it was from the digging or not a clean enough foot basin or a combo of both, but it was an awful experience.
