GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! A different U-haul location, or another company entirely. You do not want the stress that comes with dealing with Cliff at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Hillsboro. Tried to charge me over $300 for a truck I returned same day, with no damage, and a full tank of gas, only going over the miles I had stated by maybe 10 or 20. Instead of being $5-$10 added on like it had done 2 days before in that same situation, Cliff decided to add $157 onto my bill. So Ive been here a few times, never had an issue with the employees. The GM Cliff however (standing next to the 10x15 sign in the pictures) has no business being a general manager, in all seriousness this man shouldnt be working any job where he has to interact with customers. In the past week I rented 2 trucks, 1 on Wednesday that he had literally NOTHING to do with, picked up and dropped off same day and location. The second I dealt with this man both times, again pick up and drop off same location. When I showed up at 7 am, when theyre supposed to open, the doors were locked. When I asked an employee outside, he let me in. Still had a smile on my face even though they opened late, because I had found someone to buy my motorcycle which is saving me from collections. Could tell he had an attitude, wasnt bad enough to turn me away, but I noticed. Brought the truck back around 4 same day, his attitude was worse. I Had a problem with the payment they wanted(mentioned above). So I was told to the talk to the people at the desk cause even the employee at the time thought it was wrong. Unfortunately Cliff was there. I told him that I had rented a truck a few days earlier, THAT IS ALL I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE FIRST CONTRACT. From there he started making things up about the first contract, again something he had nothing to do with. You could say "Hes the GM, of course he knows." Ok, so without having any paperwork for it on hand, without looking at a computer, or even asking an employee, he started telling me how the first contract was on hold, which was false. The payment had posted the next morning, not pending, Full on posted. He refused to allow me to give him any form of proof. How did he know? Apparently "I rented a truck a few days earlier" told him every single detail about my previous rental, even stating that I had issues then as well, which I didnt. That transaction went smoothly due to his Employees. He just kept making stuff up, and telling me I was the one who had told him, when the only thing I was doing was calling him out on his lies. Even after all of this, his employees were still really nice. Which tells me that Cliff acting like this is normal. Didnt seem to bother the other employees what so ever. Just another day. Will never go to this location again, U-haul will always be a last resort.

THIEVES....Avoid this location! The staff was a little short handed upon check in but acceptably friendly once they finally got to me. Although I generally expect getting a tired old turd of a truck when renting from uhaul, which this one seemed that it wouldnt barely start again after turning it off . Thinking I was going to be stranded at some point but luckily not. I dont however expect to get screwed out of additional money for gas. When I returned the truck after driving only 69 miles and having filled the tank with 20 gallons of gas, trying to avoid an additional fuel surcharge and hassle. This works out to 3.5 miles driven per gallon of gas that I put back in the truck, more than adequate, I was still charged an additional 16 dollars for gas when it was checked in. Unnaceptable thievery by this location and when I contacted the manager, Cliff Robinson, he didnt care at all and was unwilling to even investigate it. Too bad that the last little bit of confidence I had in uhaul was just destroyed by stealing $16 dollars from me.

The hitch installing business is either you get it right or wrong. Unfortunately, my experience wasnt perfect, but with an extra $150 bucks on my part - they got it right. Be sure to order the right hitch receiver for your car or truck. Note, when you call this business - 9 times out of 10 you are sent to a call center somewhere else in the US. I assumed I was talking to the Hillsboro Uhaul when I ordered my hitch. I got a 2 inch receiver installed when I assumed I was getting a 1 1/4 inch - I made it clear it was for a bike rack and is on a car - not truck. Anyway, I wanted it done right and had them swapped out. They said they could meet me halfway on the labor cost, but of course they fully charged me the full cost to redo the hitch receiver install. It looks much better - but be sure to get what you are expecting - we all have to do our homework and not expect the businesses to always ask the right questions even though it is their business to do just that!

We reserved our 26ft. truck 2 days before we rented. The morning we went to pick it up there was a line out the door. Reserving ours ahead of time didnt mean we would get it any sooner than anyone else which defeats the purpose of word "reservation". Furthermore the truck we rented hadnt been returned so they asked us to wait (another) hour. After that hour it still hadnt arrived so they asked us to go to a different location to get one that size. They ended up giving us the biggest one they had and comped some of the cost and threw in a moving dolly. They also gave us 2 days for the price of one and gave us an additional 15miles. We ended up only needing the truck for 6 hours. It was nice being able to drop the truck off in the new city we moved to. While the beginning of our experience was inconvenient and chaotic they sure made up for it with all the freebies and extras. The staff was nice and friendly.

Went back after seeing on my bank account that more was taken out than the receipt. Asked for the manager and got James. Showed the positive withdrawal from Uhaul. After showing him he got rude told me to be quite and listen. I told him he did not have to speak to me that way. I got a not so nice sorry and he continued to talk. He also said that his price is the best I would get. And rudely informed me that they dont rent by the hour. I will also have to wait a week to receive my difference. Glad my move is over and wont use Uhaul again. James if you read this, by the way Pods is cheaper because I have checked and that is who we are using to move to another state. So before you you are rude and demeaning to customers know the facts. I was not rude or mean, the charges were never explained so for me to ask about my money you should never treat someone like you did when they paid for a service.

I have used this location several times. Often enough to understand that the staff has to operate with patience and tact when busy and suddenly sometimes. Lisa and Justin did just this and more last night. I was pressed with helping someone change plans last minute in order to help with his moving needs... this too was only an hour before this location closed. Lisa and Justin went above their duties to ensure a gentleman was accommodated totally while effectively completing their responsibilities in a manner no less than impressive. To top this off they were under added pressure as their higher up bosses were present! You two are amazing and the Hillsboro store is lucky to have your skill and aptitude available to their disposal. Thank you for your help!
