A year and a half ago I moved to Portland from Colorado and I was looking for some office work. Im in my early 20s, and I although I was very hopeful and fairly confident I would do well in that setting, I wasnt sure where to start. I responded to an ad on craigslist for a receptionist position from Action, and soon after they called me in for an interview. I worked with Katie and Phi, who are absolutely wonderful. They appear to have a very keen perception of who you are and a real knack for knowing just the employer to introduce you to. They could not have been more optimistic and helpful for me when I worked with them. They set up several interviews for me for receptionist positions which went very well. Although I was disappointed to be passed over for a couple interviews for other candidates at times, I was impressed with how well they placed me according to my personality and skill set. I felt very confident that those positions would have suited me well had I been chosen. Katie and Phi were also very kind and sympathetic during the process. Then, to my great relief, they were able to get me an arrangement for some office work within just a couple of weeks since our first meeting. It was not a receptionist position, but I was able to work in an office with a very focused, professional team where I could catch on quick and a very good pay rate that seriously surprised me. While the position was temporary, I believe it was the best possible outcome for someone who had just moved in from out of town. Even when that arrangement was over, and there were gaps between job opportunities (and some I had to decline when I had another obligation), they never forgot about me and checked in to see how I was doing occasionally. Finding work in Portland can be very difficult, but if you are confident, prepared, and patient, I highly recommend Action for helping you get in touch with good employment opportunities.

Job-hunting is a soul sucking experiment in futility from the constant searching to no responses to finally the interview process. Insert employment agencies. How many times have you met with an agency and never heard from them again? That was my experience also before I found Action Employment Services. Action Employment Services is the first agency that I have ever worked with that maintained communication from the first interview to through my contract position to hire. I met one of the best recruiters around. He asked me all of the right questions in our first meeting the most important being what I was looking for in my next job, namely a career position. Each position he sent to me where all exactly that with solid, growing companies. They were positions that I was excited about and could not wait to interview for. He always provided me with the company, a point of contact, job descriptions, and background on the company and the position. With his information and my own research, I felt extremely prepared for each interview and there were several over a few month period. After each interview, we spoke and he gave me feedback from his POC with each company. He never stopped searching for me and when there was nothing in his pipeline for me, he still maintained contact, which is just amazing. Until that great day when my recruiter received a golden opportunity for me. I got the job and it is perfect! Thank you, Action Employment Services for being the best employment agency I’ve ever worked with.

If you are seeking a temporary position or full time position I would recommend Action Employment Services, Inc. I started as a temp-to-hire worker back in 2005 and Action kept me busy from one temp assignment to another (within great local industries) until I found a position that was suitable for me full time. Unfortunately due to the economy downfall in 2008 the company that I worked for at the time was forced to downsize in staff and I was laid off. At that point I turned right back to Action and we picked up where we left off temping from one place to another. In the summer of 2009 I ended up accepting a full time position on my own. However as time went on I realized that the position I found on my own was not right for me so I turned back to Action in late 2011 for the third time. I told them what I was looking for and they managed to deliver just as they did for me before. Action not only delivered for me once, but twice in obtaining a full time position. They value your work ethic, and are willing to listen to you in order to find a position that is best for you. Everyone at this agency is great, including the President Marianne Moore! Thanks Marianne for your great company and for keeping people happily employed in great companies!!! Keep up the great work!

From my first visit they have been the most warm and caring people i have met. I was in a dead end job barley making enough money to make rent every month. I went to various employment agencies and was basically put in a pool of people who just wanted my resume and never even called back or if i called they had no clue who i was. Not Action. This is literally the only employment service that not only helps you get a good job. They WORK to help you improve. Action called me with job offers and made sure I was completely comfortable and felt like it was a good fit. They didnt just throw me into a interview or job I would hate. They checked in on me and cared about me. How rare is that. A company actually caring about YOU. If you value your time. Value yourself and your skills. Go to action. As a update: I am now happy to say Action Employment found me a full time position in my dream job. Im making double what I was before and have a amazing office with a gorgeous view. I cant believe how happy one agency has made me.

Applied for a receptionist position, did a phone interview and again confirmed the position was for a receptionist. Spent the little money I had to put gas in my car in order to make it to the face to face interview. When I get to the location, I spend about 15 minutes answering questions and going through the interview, towards the end of the interview is when the lady doing my interview decides to try to convince me to do a "collections" position. At this point I am upset because I asked her what happen to the receptionist position and she says "oh that was already filled". It must have got "filled" within one day, yeah right. I truly think the lady in charge on this location is putting up ads on craigslist for several different "positions" in order to pull people to the company. Its sad cause this only benefits her and isnt truly helping people find jobs. After I declined the collections interview she said she would call me if anything came up....its been a month and no words from her.

Convinced that my interview was for a fake job. The excitement and enthusiasm shown to me in the interview process in no way matched the response after I walked out the door. Which was ZERO. I called the next morning to update some information, and was assured that my resume had been passed on to the hiring company. Two weeks later, still no response, even after leaving a voicemail for "Spence" as she is unprofessionally called. Exactly two weeks to the date of original job posting, it was re-posted, with new requirements. I re-applied, sent Spence a personal email, and STILL NOTHING. These people are liars. Dont give them your time, as they have no qualms about pretending to like you, only to waste your valuable time. I find it oddly fascinating that people can work in this manner and keep a clean conscience.
