I was hired by the city of Portland Parks and Recreation department but for budget reasons was told to work through Brooks Staffing. Things started out bad and got worse from there. My Brooks Staffing Supervisor Lynn was not very good at keeping me informed: she didnt communicate regular updates nor work very hard to get me to work quickly. After three weeks under Brooks stead, when I still wasnt placed into the position that was waiting for me, I began calling brooks once to twice a day. Lynn was always "on the phone" or "in an interview" and never called me back. When I did get messages they were through the secretary and all along the lines of "we dont know anything yet" and "well call you when we know something". The weekend passes and I call again on Monday only to find that I could have started a day before but I "never returned their phone call". (The nice thing about cell phones is that they keep a log of all calls in, out and missed.) Not only had they never called me, they never left the voice mail that they insist they did. When I finally got a hold of Lynn -- she was sick on Monday, she insisted that they "had called me" and "did leave a voice mail". I even gave her an out -- saying that they must have called the wrong number, but no, "this was the number where they left the message". At this point Lynn reminded me that "she was my supervisor" and asked whether I was "still sure I wanted to work with Brooks Staffing". I said yes because I need a job, but the whole situation is asinine. If this is any indication of what it is like to work with Brooks, I wont be there long.

Absolutely terrible. I walked into their building in person after driving across town and was told to leave and apply online, so I went to my car and filled out the application on my phone. I went back in and told her I filed out the application and she said to leave and wait for a recruiter to contact me, so no luck there. I was emailed before I even made it home saying that I was missing work history (that was listed clearly on my resume) and that my resume didnt match the experience I had listed.... I listed things like experienced with Microsoft word, and a few other general things that are obviously just common skills, especially for someone who just finished college. I wrote a long message back that I thought would clear things up and was almost immediately replied to with a message saying they had nothing for me. What a horrible company you are and what a waste of time on my part...

I have had good placement experience with S. Brooks Staffing & Associates. From my first encounter with a representative at a job fair to my ongoing working relationship with staffing agent, Lynn Sanders, I have been treated respectfully and been given every consideration as an employment-side client. Support personnel at Brooks have been quick & responsive, making sure I got paid correctly, sought to enroll me in health benefits plans & let me know when my vacation time had accrued--yes you can earn paid vacation time! Ms. Sanders has reached out to me a few times to make sure everything was going alright with my assignment and alerted me to apply for permanent positions in my career field. I am very satisfied with the performance by the Brooks team.

I want to reach out and thank Brooks Staffing for their support and assistance over the past year, plus. I came back to Portland without a job in a bad economy and very challenging job market. Lynn placed me promptly in a great company and I was there until I got on-board permanent, full time with another company. The staff was professional and friendly. I worked mostly with Lynn and Lisa who were always prompt in returning my calls and answering all my questions or any concerns. It was a great experience and if I ever need to find another job I will definitely call on Brooks Staffing again for assistance. Thank you all! You were awesome!

I wondered into their offices one day just hoping that they could help me in my mission to secure gainful employment. What I got in return was more than I bargained for. Staffing Specialist Kenyatta Trice and the rest of the staff were professional, positive and prompt in their responses. As a newcomer to the Portland area, they also offered me sound advice and much needed encouragement. After securing employment, I informed them and they were very happy for me. They are truly invested in the success of their clients. I would recommend any job seeker to stop by their offices. It will be well worth your time!

Brooks is my favorite temp agency to work with in Portland. In this bad economy all the agencies have more temps than they have work for so they dont necessarily feel like they have to be nice to their temps. I really appreciate that the Brooks staff always treats me like a real person and all the assignments theyve called me about were good ones that fit my skills.

I had a horrible experience with this office. Multiple times they never called when they stated they would. It was obvious they were not there to help me find a position but were only worried about themselves. I would recommend finding another staffing service.
