Im checking in two and a half years after my original review - luckily Im still employed (at the job Apple One didnt help me find) and still receiving emails from Apple One about job opportunities. Ive responded to each and every email informing them that Im no longer looking for employment through them. When I emailed Holly (who may or may not still be at the company) indicating that I wished to opt out of the emails, she sent me a snide reply and told me I wouldnt receive any further emails from her. And I didnt, for a full month. Then I received another fourteen emails in the next three months, until I blocked her address. And now Im receiving emails from a different recruiter - two and a half years later, still receiving emails. PREVIOUS REVIEW, Sept 2009: My experience here was unpleasant from the moment I stepped in the doors. Despite having an appointment, I waited around 25 minutes after my appointment time before Holly Howell spoke to me. I have around four years of office experience in various levels - she told me that I didnt have enough experience to put me in any clerical jobs. She sent me on an interview to a "customer service" job, and I was offered the job. The employer discussed salary with me - Apple One paid me significantly less, and claimed that I must have been mistaken - despite the printout that the employer had given me. The job was unfortunately short term as a result of the companys failing finances. I let Holly know, updated my status to "looking for employment - any" online, and called and emailed Holly a few times a week looking for leads. At no point in my several weeks of unemployment did she give me any leads. I finally found a job on my own, and changed my status to "employed - not looking" and stopped looking for jobs. At that point, Holly began to send me weekly updates on open jobs which I was qualified for, and nearly daily offers for interviews. Short version: They lied about how much the company was paying me, they did nothing to help me find jobs when I was unemployed, they constantly email me despite my asking to be taken off their list now that I am employed. In fact, when they go to my spam filter, they just send from new addresses. Its really classy. Stay away from Apple One unless youre desperate. And even then... Im not sure Id go through them.

I have worked with three temp agencies in the past and have got to say that AppleOne (at least the downtown Portland office) is very professional, friendly, and attentive to your job specifications. AppleOne did not place me in any positions, but Ralph was ALWAYS following up with me on a few different opportunities. Even though I was placed through a different temp agency, I would recommend the current jobseeker to check out this agency. You MUST note that each employment agency as well as every potential employee is different and depending on your skill set, the agency may or may not be able to help you. As another clerical professional out there in Portland, if there is any advice I can give you, it is to be as open and flexible as possible. Try not to limit your availability and industry to very slim possibilities. And ALWAYS walk in to an interview dressed professionally. Potential employers want to see that you taking initiative and are serious about finding work, and furthermore, finding a dream job. Also, dont be afraid to boast about what you can bring to the table, whether it be technical or physical skills. And only YOU can decide whether AppleOne is the right agency for you. Definitely check them out!

Joined here as I had a contact into the company and thought a temp agency would be a good way to go. After my interview where I described my situation (recent college graduate with 4 years retail experience who wants to move into marketing), they seemed to understand and cooperate. After 2 hours of trivial Microsoft office tests, I headed for home and awaited contact. I was told to keep them posted on my applications to other jobs, which I did via 3-4 emails over 2 weeks. The strange part was, I received no response to any. A few weeks later, I discovered my rep was "pursuing other opportunities". I played phone tag with my new rep for a few calls and have since given up. Never once did I hear about ANY job remotely related to me, despite being pitched to about UnderArmour and Columbia contacts, which I made it obvious I wanted. They seem to know what to do with people wanting to work administration, as thats where they were pushing me, but I have little interest in administration. I now have a job that I found on my own.

I have been looking for a job "with" them for over a year. They are inconsiderate and worthless. They have a job posting email they say has job openings, but the positions usually have fill dates that are from weeks prior, or when you email or call referencing any of those jobs that are decent and appear to be current they say they were already filled. I love how when you call to find out about anything they ask how you are doing, just so when you reciprocate the question they respond with, "Well its work, ya know how it is." NO, I DONT KNOW HOW IT IS BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A JOB!! And the jobs they do offer when you call them relentlessly are quick little temporary 2 wk long positions at minimum wage. If they have a job that fits your resume dont expect them to place you.

I went into this agency late 2013 or early 2014, they have not worked with me so I have forgotten the exact time. I went in looking to get assistance in finding employment in a different career field. I have a BS in Human Development and about to finish my Master in Management and Organizational Leadership. I currently work in the public sector but I have a number of skills that are transferable, and my only request was that the pay is at least 35k. I have seen numerous jobs on the website and forwarded my profile. I have yet to receive a call. I also left a message for my representative and about 2 months ago and I still have not gotten a call. I am convinced that staffing agencies want to fill their rosters instead of positions. I am highly disappointed.

Two days ago, I submitted an online application, which required the better part of an afternoon, and received an email confirming our scheduled appointment. This morning, I received a phone call from a pedantic assistant at a quarter to eight informing me that the interview scheduled was canceled as they only cater toward mid to high level exec positions. I certainly hope that in the future they advertise this fact on their website to avoid job seekers needlessly laboring over an unread application for hours.

In a nutshell: The manager never returns phone calls or follows up with information. Also, the first meeting with the manager involved her advising me to not expect much from them. I am an experienced and college educated professional and she told me that I should lower my expectations because 18.00 dollar and hour jobs dont exist anymore. If the manager isnt doing her job then where is there incentive for the staff to be any better? Yikes! What a way to kick off your job search!
