As soon as I moved to Portland this summer I made it one of my top priorities to find a gym. When I researched gyms in my area, The Green Microgym stood out to me for so many reasons, and the best part is that it has exceeded my expectations. I have been working out there since August now and I find myself at home as soon as I step onto the elliptical. The facility itself is incredibly clean, and provides a very serene vibe. I am in control of my fans, television and light switches, which I really like. I never feel bombarded by other gym-goers and certainly never feel overwhelmed by a large crowd like I have felt at previous gyms. I walk in, put my bag in a locker and hop on a machine, never having to wait to get onto my machine of preference. The sinks in the bathroom provide filtered water, which is great, and the machine options are just what I need and want. The yoga/weight lifting room downstairs is very open, with walls covered in mirrors and every device you need. There is a very beneficial sense of community at this gym, as well. These are just a few of the wonderful benefits the Green Microgym provides, a long with the fact that it is providing for a wonderful cause- our environment. The gym has changed me in many ways- mind, body and soul. Adam, the owner, is an incredibly driven man and being a part of his project has been a wonderful experience. I love it!

I hadnt belonged to a gym since I moved to Portland because I was turned off by the big-box feel of the chain workout facilities. The Green Microgym is so close to my house I can easily walk or bike there, and once I get there I feel like I am making a truly sustainable choice in working out. All the machines are no-power, low-power or actually feed electricity you generate by biking back into the grid. The owners have done a remarkable job of posting information so that you always know where to turn things on and off to conserve as much power as possible. There are plenty of options for cardio and weight workouts, and it is never too crowded. The owners are always coming up with added benefits to the membership like Wellness Days, free yoga classes, group training sessions, coupons to local businesses for generating electricity, etc. I feel a personal connection with the gym because the owners are always around, willing to show you how to use equipment you are unfamiliar with or how to get the most out of your workout. They live right in the neighborhood and so belonging to this gym also helps me with my personal commitment to "buy local".

I have belonged to many gyms, but The Green Microgym is so close to my house I can easily walk there. I love that it is a sustainable model and that by working out on select cardio machines I can feed electricity back into the grid. There are lots of options for a cardio workout and plenty of weights, bands, mats, exercise balls, etc. If I have any questions about how to use any machine, I can always ask the owner who is there daily. And hell always show me a new exercise that he just learned....always looking for something new! For those who want a personal trainer, there are several to choose from - and you can also sign up for group workouts. Really, there are so many options at The Green Microgym. I couldnt be happier!

I joined this gym about 4 months ago at the recommendation of friends and enjoy the gym for the following reasons: -clean facilities -24 hour access gym -never packed -easy to find street parking -sense of community I also began personal training with James, a Master Trainer at EcoPower Fitness and have greatly improved my overall health with strength training that was tailored to my goals, my existing medical conditions, and schedule. I never thought that I would be someone who would enjoy personal training and I have been pleasantly surprised. I look forward to my sessions and feel empowered to use both weights and free weights on my own. Thanks James!

I encourage you to take a look at The Green Microgym if you’re thinking about joining a workout facility. Not only is it “green” with low-flow/duel flush toilets, solar panels, low energy equipment and cork flooring – you can actually help produce energy while working out! For every hour of energy you produce you get a dollar – once you earn $10 you receive $10 off your membership fee or a $10 gift certificate from one of many neighboring businesses. How cool is that! It’s not overly crowded, it’s not a meat market, it’s a place for regular people to get fit.

I joined this gym as soon as I could and have not been disappointed. Not only can I walk there from my house, but they are truly committed about being sustainable in every way. I have enjoyed the group workouts, as well as all of the cardio machines and weights. For the first time ever I actually enjoy walking into the gym. Adam and his team have created a great workout environment. I recommend this gym for anyone who wants to support a local business and the environment.

My favorite things about The Green Microgym: low profile and never packed, no creepy people trying to "show a little lady how its done", 24 hour access, I pads on some of the machines (I can watch shows to help me forget that I am working out), great personal trainers! AND you are helping out the environment be generating energy. Who could ask for more? love this place!

James and Megan, among other fantastic trainers, have created a comfortable, safe space for people to work out as a community. I feel as though they have invested in me and others personally, giving me the tools I need to become a better version of myself. I never knew I wanted a personal trainer until I came here!

If you are looking for a smaller sized eco friendly gym this is the place for you. Friendly staff and a comfortable place to work out. This place does not have as much stuff as the bigger major gyms around Portland so it may not be for everyone. Come check it out for a tour.

Truely great experience. Without the help of EcoPower Fitness I would not be able to join the army and become a ranger. The atmosphere is friendly and you can have amazing philosophical conversations if you so wish. Would highly recommend.

If you are looking for a small, cheap, neighborhood gym, this is it. Equipment is a bit old and some folks dont always clean up after themselves well. But a good price and its usually not very busy.

Great gym. Well laid out, small but clean. Human power treadmills make for a nice eco solution, combined with a great staff and good classes. Definitely recommended, and available 24/7
