Me and my Boyfriend had purchased my sister a early Christmas gift to get her hair done at Pulse Salon in Portland OR. She went in to get it done and showed her hair stylist exactly what she wanted, then her hair stylist gave her recommendation on a new hair coloring called a biolage hair coloring. My sister had told them she wanted her roots to be more blond so the lady goes okay with a biolage the color will go up to your roots. Once it was done it looked more like a ombree hair color as we even have pictures. She wasnt happy because the hair stylist told her she would make the top of her hair more blond when she came home the only new blond was at the ends no were else spending over $200 dollars we called and asked them to kindly fix it the people at the salon said that they need to speak to the manager after not returning our call back for a while they finally did saying that she can come back in but would have to pay again for new coloring which was pretty much the same price we already paid another $200 plus. Later I called back asking to speak to the owner they said they would contact the owner and return my call after waiting over a week for the call I called my self to see what the hold up was the reception told me her manager/owner was sick and would call me back again waiting and not hearing anything I called once again and the reception rudely said the owner doesnt care about out problem and doesnt want to talk to us because she doesnt care. First of all can some one please say UNPROFESSIONAL??? Are you joking me you take our $200 plus and do what you want and thats it? Never have I heard of such FRAUD. The least this company could do is fix her hair for free and if not give us our money back and we will go get it done elsewhere. The reason I share this is so that you can be cautious about coming here. I also hope no one else gets treated this way. I also contacted the Better Business Bureau regards this situation.

I am someone who does not go to multiple places to get my hair done. When I find someone, I keep going to them. My hair stylist recently moved out of state and I didnt know what I would do. I searched and searched, and in all of my searches Pulse Salon came up every time and had the best reviews. Even though they had good reviews, I still felt nervous going into the salon and trying someone new. I called the salon and the gal that I spoke to on the phone was more than helpful. She gave me suggestions on who I should see based on my hair type, what I wanted done with my hair, etc. After about a 15 minute phone call - after all of my unnecessary questions and concerns - I told her I would have to call back. When I called back, the woman I had spoken with had already gone home, I told the girl I was talking to that I had already spoken with someone and I couldnt remember who she had suggested for me. Fortunately, this salon has outstanding reception staff, and the woman I had spoken to knew I would be calling back and told the next gal everything she needed to know about booking my appointment. I booked my appointment with Courtney. She did a fabulous job! I look like a brand new woman. She listened, had suggestions for me based on my face shape and skin tone. I didnt even know face shape mattered for a haircut. On top of my already too long rant, the rest of the staff who had nothing to do with my service was fabulous. The stylist next to Courtney.. Jenny I think, made conversation with me while I was processing, the dark haired reception gal kept checking on my water. The salon has a full beverage station with coffee, tea, wine and water. I have NEVER had such an amazing and enjoyable salon experience. I will always come back hand down. The reception staff sold me, Courtney won me over for life.

Pulse Salon feels upbeat and pretty, and its easily accessible downtown near Central Library and close to the bus, MAX, and parking. But I want to tell you about Megan, who does an amazing job with my hair! She has been cutting and coloring my hair for some time now (I met her when she was in school!) and I have to say that she is truly gifted! Shes a great listener, very creative, and never puts me in a "box" of needing to look a certain way. She has ideas when I dont, she is able to understand what I need and want even when I dont have the right words for it. I can tell that she considers ideas for my hair outside the salon chair. I used to always feel like my hair was a problem, but definitely not since Ive been seeing Megan. She is amazing--I get compliments on my hair all of the time, even weeks after it was done and from passers-by. See Megan at Pulse!

I Saw the Owner of Pulse. Suzanne - This is the Best Salon in Town ! I no peps always say this about their salons. But Its really TRUE about Pulse and Very Good Prices. I have Very Difficult Hair to cut the first time. Not to mention, consistently every 6 to 8 weeks. My Hair is Very Thick, Needs Allot of conditioners, and then a GOOD STYLIST -pray- that knows good technique for you. Suzanne - Hit it out of the park ! woooo hoooo My previous hair dresser from Tribe Studio hair - made a heavy, $$$$$$$, uneven discrase of ! Even Suzanne kept saying Boy of Boy through out my cut. Funny Uh - have you ever been in this positon? Suzanne was Exactly What I Needed ! so refreshing. And for all you Ladies out there Suzanne is a vry. skilled hair dresser. I m so happy that my searching high and low for a good hair dresser days are over - im staying put here with Suzanne.

I really like the Professional Stylists that work at PULSE Salon, They listen to every concern and thought. I felt like these women cared about each and every one of us that was in the salon the few times I went there before being referred to GLOW, Which if you look you will see my reviews for GLOW as NOT good. So I will be returning to Pulse in about 6 months to a year after letting my hair grow out after my Horrifying experience at GLOW. Keep up the good work Pulse Salon.Hope you are still around Rebeka.. The ALMOST gave a 4 star instead of 5 because I felt my hair needed to be washed more thoroughly, I came home with a purple still on my roots from the toner. Just think you need more lighting in the shampoo bowl room. Thats my only complaint if you can call it that. 5 STARS LADIES FOR 2012-2013

I came and got my haircut here asking for my hair to be a certain length and she cut 2 inches shorter. Now I will have to pin my hair back for about 2 months or more until it grows out. She saw long hair and just cut it all off. I told her I curl my hair for volume and like it to hit at a certain point and it is about 2-3 inches shorter. We even had some pictures to look at. My hair now looks nothing like the pictures and I cried all day about it. My advice, when going to any salon make very sure at first that you communicate and make sure they really! know what you want and what they are doing because she just cut and cut / layers and layers and I am sure it might look OK by Christmas (5 months from now) I probably will have to wear a hat!
