I have bought three cars from Ron Tonkin and have had two different cars in their body shop (each of those cars having more than $10,000 in body work done). I have had great experiences all around with Ron Tonkins dealerships (Suzanne at Ron Tonkin Toyota is always my favorite!). I was in a car accident on December 5th and had my car towed to the Tonkin Honda dealership where their body shop is located. Upon picking up my vehicle I noticed a couple problems as follows: 1. My turn signal was the wrong color. My right turn signal was orange, while my left was white. (Pat fixed this while I waited the day I brought it back). THANK YOU. 2. The next issues were discovered over the course of a month in having my vehicle returned. The first being that my body kit seemed to rattle a bit on the freeway along with the front dash. The other noticeable issue was I had no wiper fluid. I was not to concerned about either but did mention I would schedule a time to come in and have them resolved. I went to Tonkin Toyota to (where I bought my 2008 Scion tC RS4) to have my oil and fluids changed as scheduled. They told me my wiper fluid container was busted from my accident and did not get fixed by the body shop. I went by the body shop and they told me I would have to make a second trip out there as they did not have any loaner cars available. While frustrated that this was the third time I had to visit the body shop I said ok. I then called and did not get anywhere the following week. So called again today and the first lady I talked to told me that they still did not have any loaner cars available and I would need to come back next week. By now I was ticked. I then talked to Joe Smith (Body Shop Manager) and he had me come down drop off my car, was apologetic and assured me everything would be good to go this time. He then had Enterprise come pick me up and get me a rental. (Still not happy about Enterprise putting a $50 authorization on my credit card, but that is unrelated). So this being my story, I am relatively happy with Tonkin. I was frustrated to the point where I was ready to file a complaint with the BB and State Attorney General, but I feel that Joe really turned the situation around and got me taken care of. I am hoping Joe comes through. After all of this I would still highly recommend Ron Tonkin as they have better service than anyone else I have found, and while these problems were annoying they were minor and they have so far went out of their way to make them right (which is much better than you can expect from most dealerships or body shops). Thank you again to Joe and Ron Tonkin Honda Body Shop. Much appreciated.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR/TRUCK to this place! My truck needed repairs after a accident and instead of going with my insurances preferable shop Ive picked Ron Tonkin since its a dealer auto shop. Wow what a big mistake I have made! Thinking my truck will come back looking brand new with OEM parts! They took over TWO months with my truck and the finished looked like it was a TWO day job they did! They had my truck sat outside in the rain for over TWO months with no hood or cover over it and now it has rust spot around the motor. The paint job is bad, the assembly they did on the fenders and bumper are bad! My truck came back with more scratches and dings before all this had happen! They didnt even bother spraying any under coating on the fender wheel wells! They blame my insurance company for taking too long but my insurance assures me its Ron Tonkins doing.January the shop manager had call me few days before my truck was going to finished off saying my water pump is leaking and if I want it repair itll be out of my pocket cost..! Are you kidding me? Long story short they end up replacing the water pump. I called Joe Smith to make sure that if they ARE replacing the water pump please replace the timing belt and all the other belts and Ill pay for the belts if its not already in the repair bill. Joe said " Your whole front end is being replace with new parts including the belts so you dont have to worry about it".. Will what do you know Ive been lied to, my belts are the same old belts now lets just hope my timing belt is a new one instead of a sticker on the cover saying timing belt replace date/miles. While picking up my truck, Joe said if Im not happy with it theyll fix it. Come on after more then TWO months do you think Ill leave my truck any longer in those hands. I pick up my truck while driving home, I realize it has no AC WTH so I drove back wasted 30 more minutes sitting in the lobby while they fix their mistakes. I will NEVER go back to Ron Tonkin if I ever need any kind of repairs done and/or in the market for a new car or truck. I will take my business somewhere else. If I could give this place a ZERO star rating I would. I hope my experience here will not be yours to come. Me, my friends, and families will never go to Ron Tonkin ever again after this!

My car has been at their shop since September 6th. I scheduled it with them a month in advance of the repair work to be done, and they said it would be done by September 15th. If they were too busy to do the work I would have taken it to the other shop that had given me the quote. They were paid in advance by my insurance company. On September 16th, I called them to check status after hearing nothing from them. Instead of them calling me for approval to do extra work on their original quote, they held my car and submitted a claim to my insurance company on September 13th. My insurance company said they were surprised a follow-up claim wasnt submitted sooner. Today is September 26th. They promised my car would be ready last Friday or today. Once again, I had to call them to check status. I have yet to hear back. If I ran my accounting practice like this I wouldnt have a business. To make matters worse, in January of this year I had work done by this same shop. The work was done quickly, but my credit card was charged $700 for a rental car that I dropped off there and was promised it would be taken care of. It took me several calls and visits to get the charges reversed and that person no longer works at Ron Tonkin. They also cashed a small check after the first claim was completed that I never received credit for. I let that go at the time. I would not take my car there without a commitment in writing of the length of time of service and a firm quote up front. I do not believe this business has ethical practices. Update: I picked up my car today and paid them directly an additional $2,300 out of pocket. My insurance company and indirectly myself, was robbed. They simply do not care, and told me so. This work was for minor damage on the back rear panel and side damage on the passenger side panel. The car was completely drivable, this was cosmetic damage only. My total cost for a $600 minor rear quarter panel repair and a $3,000 side panel repair was $5,433. I was given no second estimate for the work. If I were an auto body professional, I would open a shop and compete with them directly. Seriously.
