Waffles were just okay, awful customer service. We placed our orders at the window and asked for indoor seating. They said to just go inside and seat ourselves anywhere to the right. There were only a couple of tables left, we sat down at table with a booth-like seat. We waited I think 10 minutes, enjoying our coffee when we were called for our food. A cranky employee passing through told us we needed to leave our table to sit at one by the counter meant for two people. Our table was for larger groups. Mind you, there was a couple next to us sitting at a similar table and the table he was directing us to was occupied when we first came in. The other table was dirty, by machines, with people constantly squeezing next to us. I dont see what others see in this place. The only employee that was kind was the woman at the window. While eating by the counter, another employee would call out the names when orders were ready, but he sounded so nasty. God forbid if he had to call your name twice. It was our first time going and I swear I will never go back.

I dont actually know if theres anything NOT to love about The Waffle Window. I am stunned I havent reviewed it, yet! Conveniently located (for me- far enough away that I cant gain a significant amount of weight from eating there), and always delicious, I adore the quirky feel of the place. Its set off the back of the Bread & Ink cafe (also amazing!) and run by the owners wife, its a fabulous little joint. Obviously, you have to try the Triple Bs (Bacon, Brie, & Basil) with apricot conserve, but Id also highly recommend anything they serve. Thats because they serve REAL Belgian Stroopwaffles or street waffles, which is to say they have the pearled sugar on the outside for a sweet crunch before you bite into the pillowy dough in the center. Amazing, amazing, every time. And if, by some strange chance, its raining, they have a sliver of customer seating inside the Bread & Ink. Waffles up!!

Leslie Knope would love these waffles here if she visited Portland and also if you know, she were real. Waffle lovers would love the sweet batter of these Belgian waffles. I tried their Three Bs savory waffle and loved first and foremost their waffles. The thick bacon on top with the warm brie slices also werent bad and I felt that the fresh basil really added another level of complexity to the dish. The peach jam served on the side was nice in itself, but perhaps a bit too sweet for this savory dish. The spicy bacon cheddar jalapeno waffle was decent, but I felt it would have been better if there was less of the avocado-tomatillo salsa especially since the waffles were sweet. The waffles here were great, but the only thing lacking is the outside seating area; its literally a tent in an alley behind the building along with the trash.

Tried the waffle dipped in chocolate. It was cold and the waffle itself tasted really bland and rubbery. Use some freakin vanilla extract or something, people!!! It was also smothered in way too much mediocre chocolate, a mess to eat, and a disappointment. I maybe ate a third of it and then couldnt even choke down the rest. GAK! Perhaps the warm ones off the griddle are better, but based on how bland the waffle was cold, I suspect not. Maybe this is why they have to slather them with other toppings/flavors. The cold chocolate dipped one is really not a suitable version to sell.

Liege waffles are a pain in the ass to make well, and the Waffle Window makes them well... Going out on a limb here, other than my kitchen, I know of no other place in the USA to get real, purpose built liege waffles. The Waffle Windows do not disappoint. I could launch into a tirade about the liege waffle or I could quote Apocalypse Now... "Get some!" Start with a simple unadulterated waffle, wrapped in paper and eat it while walking around the Hawthorne, let your freak flag fly. Then come back two or ten times and enjoy the variety. Eat, walk, rinse, repeat.

How much fun is this place! Its a window where you can waffles! I enjoy this place both in the winter (waffles will warm you right up!) and in the summer, when you can plop down on one of their benches. They make a good lunch, fun dessert, or just an anytime snack with a friend when youre in the neighborhood. Their menu is constantly changing, you get a great waffle piled high with fresh toppings, and nothing is really ever over $5.00. I find their food to be delicious and imaginative and inventive. They do both sweet and savory waffles. I wish I lived closer!

The Whole Farm is my favorite savory waffle! I mean, you cant go wrong with pepper bacon, mushroom, spinach, roasted pepper, tomato and marinated chèvre on a waffle! My hubby always goes for the sweet treats so he recommends the Blueberry Cheesecake Waffle made up of blueberry compote, cheesecake pudding, fresh whipped cream and baked graham cracker crumble topping. Go early if you can to beat the lines! Its a popular spot with limited seating outside and a couple tables inside.

Very good hole in the wall! Worth the wait as the the waffles are made fresh! They have an indoor and outdoor seating area, inside is small, so go early if you have a big group... outdoor has park type picnic tables. As we went in May, since it was strawberry season we added fresh strawberries which was really good addition to the pearl sugar waffle. Their drinks were just alright, I ordered the green tea mint lemonade which didnt have much green tea or mint flavor.

Good service, great location, and good in theory.... but sad to say I was disappointed by the waffle product. The 3 Bs savory waffle was totally forgettable, and the blueberry cheesecake waffle was a whole lotta too much — too sweet, too much sauce, too much "cheesecake." Would prefer to dip the waffle into the cheesecake and the blueberry sauce or at least be able to control how much goes on the waffle. Just didnt suit my taste. Maybe other people like it this way.

This place has a window for carry out service, but we went inside to sit and have brunch. A variety of spaces to sit throughout the place and great customer service. Windows so you can view outside. The menu had a variety of things to try. I had my normal eggs, bacon and toast and my daughter had chicken and waffles. I tried the waffles and they were great and the dipping sauce added a great sweet taste. I would recommend others to try this place.

It was really amazingly delicious but super busy and crowded. But totally worth going. I didnt know there were so many different kinds of waffles. And if you go with someone, like I did, you can have them wait in line for an hour and you can go wander around and go to all the neat stores surrounding the waffle window. Which, btw, really is an actual window. And they have a covered area with picnic tables so you dont necessarily have to get it to-go.

Cute concept done well. Hot waffles of many varieties made to order. I had some crazy chocolate creation that was delightful and gave me energy to continue beering at full speed. Took less than 5 minutes and I had a great satisfaction-to-cost quotent. It took me longer to decide between sweet and dessert-y or a more traditional breakfast style waffle concoction. Would stop again, defintely while drunk adventuring down Hawthorne.
