This is a long review, because I have had very mixed experiences at this gym. If you want the condensed version of what follows, it comes down to two points: 1) I like the actual gym facility. 2) I had a very very strange and unpleasant experience with one of their sales reps while attempting to join, bad enough to make me question my otherwise very positive view of the gym. So for the long version: Ive been going to this gym every once in a while by buying a $15 day pass. Their cardio area is a good size with good selection, and they seem to keep their machines pretty well maintained. The free-weight and weight-machine areas (which are continuous with the cardio area) also have all the standard equipment and would do for everything I need. There is a spin room and a group exercise room, as well as a 2 or 3 lane pool that looks like its about 20-25 yards (Ive never used these three areas). What I like about the gym is that it is very open and light (both at day and at night), and seems to have a pretty varied demographic of people who come here to work out. Now, for my unfortunate experience which turned this into a one-star review... I went today with the intention of joining the gym! I am out of town a lot, so I had put off joining because $15 to work out now and then didnt seem so terrible. However I spoke with a friend of mine who had joined for $29.99 a month with no initiation fee. However my salesman, who I wont name because I think that would just be mean, took the strange approach to our conversation of first offering my that rate (after insisting I first told him my age and weight), but then saying he couldnt give it to me. He then got up from the table, started to walk over to a "manager," but instead decided to come back and tell me I "must" give him the name of my friend who had told me about the $29.99 rate, and when I was confused and asked why, he told me "well, I have full access to everything in the computer anyway - I can pull up anybody." Im not sure why he decided to tell me that, but I found it very disturbing. I finally gave up and told him I was very uncomfortable with the way our conversation was going, and I would rather pay $15 to just workout, rather than continue a conversation where I felt like I was under attack because I wanted to join the gym at the same rate as my friend. Not surprisingly (based on his previous attitude) he became very defensive, proceeded to tell me it was my fault that I was feeling uncomfortable (he didnt use those words but his meaning was obvious), and told me that I should just go ahead and pay the $15. So I did. And I had a pretty good workout. Minus the part where I passed him on my way to the locker room, and tried to smile (I always like to try to make up and resolve my differences with people), only to have him make eye contact and then look away. I noticed him looking at me a few more times while I was working out, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. He was probably quite frustrated that the sale went so poorly, and maybe his staring at me was just because he was contemplating the series of events. Either way, Im a little sad, because I really do like the gym, and I really did want to join.

This is by far the WORST gym Ive ever been to. Employees (especially the front desk) consistently ignore patrons in order to talk to other employees. This was the worst on the occasions that I would visit the gym in the evening - the girl who is at the desk between the hours of 9-12 is HORRIBLE with customer service. She has an attitude, and never even pretended like she cared if I had a question or needed something. Which brings me to the next point: I only visited the front desk when I needed something. Which was pretty often. This place is so sketch that they do not have ANY magazines on the floor. Supposedly, people keep stealing them. They do keep a couple behind the desk (so above desk clerk may read during her shift). They also lock up their free weights...I had to ask for them to be unlocked often- and she claimed she didnt have a key to give me access! Im at a gym, and you cant provide access to the weights? Huh? When I got my "free analysis" by a trainer, he flirted with me so hard that it made me actually uncomfortable to be working out in front of him. Comments about my body were basically non-stop throughout the session....and then the dude proceeded to give me his phone number, claiming we could "work something out" with training, and telling me, "hey, a girls gotta eat." Uh...I can find my own dates, thanks, creeper. Last: cancellation. I called 3 days ago to cancel my membership, and I was transferred to 3 different customer service reps. Each time I was transferred, I was HUNG UP ON. Finally, after my 4th call, the girl claimed I was all set, and that I would be receiving an email to confirm within 10 minutes. Well, 24 hours passed by, and no email. 48 hours, and still no email. I finally called back, was hung up on AGAIN, called a 2nd time, and was connected with someone else. He said he would "resend" my confirmation email. 5 minutes later, I get the email....but the cancellation date was TODAY, and not 2 days ago. Clearly, the chick 2 days ago didnt do it correctly. Had I waited another day to investigate, Id be paying for the month of October as well. Super shady. WHO OWNS THIS PLACE? Seriously, they should be ashamed. Im considering reporting them to the BBB. STAY AWAY!

When I saw the 1 1/2 star rating for this place after a quick google search, I took it upon myself to do this gym some justice. OK fine, some people had terrible experiences with their sales reps. I for one, had a pretty friendly relationship with mine (we would even exchange greetings every time we passed each other in the gym.) I was overweight at the time of joining, and in no way did he insult my weight (but instead encouraged my decision for a lifestyle change.) I have run into some rude desk people working there over the past 5 years, but the friendly ones helped me overlook this. And I cant really say anything about their personal trainers because quite frankly, I was too cheap to employ one. BUT, do let me tell you, the facilities are pretty fantastic. The machines are all top of the line, well maintained, and are technologically up to date (I remember an elliptical that had a NASA-ish kind of vibe to it, heh!) Theres a spinning room, a sauna, and a pool (with a hot tub on the side)- all of which are maintained very well and are in no way substandard. I also happened to take a few classes there, and I enjoyed them- particularly the kickbox cardio (the instructor is FANTASTIC- I would never in a million years call her anything close to incompetent, which the personal trainers seem to be.) Since Ive moved I dont go to that gym anymore, but Id definitely recommend it. Ah, and I suppose its a law of life to take the bad with the good; as for the downsides: yes, it gets incredibly crowded during certain times of the day and the wait for machines can be a tad bit annoying, but it helps that they have good variety (so you can jump on another machine and not be too peeved about it). Aside from that, no other downsides come to mind, honestly. Heres the deal: they do give out guest passes (try the webiste), AND there is also online enrollment, which would take away the need to deal with a salesrep (which I ended up doing the second time around.) And the deals they do run online are decent too (I had my activation fee waived.) Take a look inside the gym: most of the time youll see it packed. Its that way for a reason people!
