Horrible. Used to be one fo the best restuarants around. While a little out of the way, it was well worth the drive to the awesome location and atmosphere - just tucked away. Unfortunately, it seems that the Back Porch has done away with their chef. We had a large party. My neice found an earpiece in her soup! The steaks we all totally over done, not to mention that they were lousy cuts of meat. At $34 for filet oscar, the filet should be thick and cooked correctly. It was thin, tough and way overcooked. Also, the $34 price does not include soup or salad. What used to be and excellent dish, the New Zealand lamb, was completely awful. It was way overcooked and way over seasoned. So unfortunate. To add to the nightmare, the waitstaff was so poorly trained that they had no idea how to handle the situation, and actually argued with our table. The manager/owner was even worse. He apologized, took some of the meals off the bill but made no further efforts with our party. I asked him to try my lamb and he conceeded that it was tough, claiming that he has been using the same meat vendors for years. I contended that not only has the quality of the food slipped, but also those that prepared the steaks and lamb were completely unqualified to do so. We should have walked aout after looking at the wedge salad - brown around the outside and the lobster bisque in which the only lumps were the undissolved clumps of flour. This place has gone way up in price and way down in quality. With so many wonderful restaurants in the Pittsburgh area, we will take our money elsewhere.

My husband and I just had our afternoon wedding at the Back Porch Aug.12th. We had our ceremony outside by the veranda and the weather could of not been better. Robin had everything so organized. After the ceremony they served our guests outside with seating the horderves and cocktails while we had our pictures taken. The service was fantastic. When I looked around all our guests had smiles on their faces and enjoyed the day. Our lunch was fantastic in the upstairs dining room and the cake and cookies from 2 Fine caterers were wonderful. Everyone is still talking about how delicious the cake was and our lunch was superb. Fantastic food and service. Have been a long time patron of the Back Porch and knew this was the venue where I wanted our wedding to be held at. Recommend for anyone who wants an intimate dinner or a beautiful wedding.

Horrible. I had a reservation. It was my birthday and my Sister and Brother in law came up from Maryland. We got to the restaurant and were put in a dark , dingy cave in the basement. No beautiful table linens as a matter of fact no tablecloths at all. It had a bar in this tiny room that was very busy with apparent regulars that were very loud. It was hard to converse. The hostess told us there were several large parties upstairs which was where we were supposed to be. I had actually spoken to them that day and confirmed my reservation. I was so very disappointed. The whole reason to go there is for a beautiful and elegant dining experience. That did not happen. Shame on you.

Yes, this is the only negative review but read on before you eat here......Yes, The Back Porch has great food but they recycle their bread & muffins so whats put on your table may have been touched by another dinner. Old bread is made into croutons & muffins are placed on other tables. On top of it, they treat their employees like dirt. If you pay by credit card, please know that they take the credit card company fee out of the wait staff tips. Only one of many examples of how they treat their staff. Will never eat there again after discovering this info.

There was a time that I highly recommended this restaurant. I dont know what has happened in the past year or so but the quality of the food has gone down. The Lobster Bisque was one you would die for but not anymore. I had Steak Bruschetta supposedly with filet that was so tough I had to chew forever. Are you under new management or no longer have your chef ? Hopefully things turn around or Im sure customers will start to disappear just as our group is going to. We will be looking for another restaurant for our Christmas lunch next year.

My husband and I have enjoyed many, many wonderful occasions and delicious meals at the Back Porch. It is beautiful, everyone is extremely warm and friendly, and the food is superb. We feel that the care that the Papallardo family has given to the building and every single detail, including the glowing fireplaces, creates the most peaceful, romantic environment to truly enjoy a wonderful meal with family and friends. It is also conducive to actually carrying on a conversation. We love it there!

High end? If your comparing with McDonalds. Its atmospher is not homey or cozy. Its an old house and smells like an old house. The food is not high end . It is casual at best for dining and they may think the food is a home run but its a single. Maybe people who go there need to expand thier horizons a bit. Food is ok patio looks dumpy like the rest of the place. Do yourself a favor go into pitt or there is an excellent italian resteraunt in new stanton i cant remember the name.

Very good food. I would definitely eat there again. I am just passing through on the highway and we stopped for dinner. Looked popular with locals. Looked like they had a nice beer and wine list. Food: 4.5 out of 5 (minor problems) Ambiance: 5 out of 5 Service: 5 out of 5 Value: 4 out of 5

I have never gone to The Back Porch and been disappointed. The atmosphere is wonderful, homey, dress up a bit for the main or upper floors or casual for the bar area. I would recommend you make reservations, particularly weekends or holidays or bigger groups. The crab cakes are delicious.

The place in the area for high end dining. Amazing service, fine dining, seasonal menu options for being outside of a major city. Unique flavor to their baby back ribs that makes them a must try. Deserts are a must and always evolving along with their homemade ice cream.

The back porch is always a great place to eat! Our group had a private room reserved in the basement. Great food, great cocktails, and the service from our waiter John could not have been better! All 12 of us left fat and happy and slightly tipsy!
