I used to see Rachel Turley in the Exton location and I have to say that she is truly talented and great with "extreme colors," which makes me sad to write this review. It happened in March but this is the reason why I have decided to seek my haircut and color from a different salon. Maybe she was having an off day. I felt that I paid for a full service including blow dry, cut, color correction and treatment. I came in with realistic expectations for my hair color and I was completely happy with this. However, she had to use light bleach on my hair and had run out of towels, causing the bleach to run down my neck thus ruining my sweater. She told me not to move or this would happen and "she was not responsible for any damaged shirts." I dont know about you, but I do not move a ton in the chair except to move the page of my magazine or to move my head as instructed. I did not notice the sweater until I got home, otherwise I would have said something to her when I was there. I am not a person who takes on conflict so I have not mentioned this to the salon. The cut was not okay and I had to have it corrected later on. It was rushed, choppy and uneven. When she got done with the cut, the salon was closing and I was the last client. She did not fully blowdry and style my hair, which was built into the cost of my appointment. I understand her level at Avante and realize that she had a hefty task of color correcting my hair with her own supply of hair products. However, I paid over $200 for the appointment before tip and I sincerely felt disregarded. Leaving and not keeping the front desk ladies was more important. With all these issues I faced, I still recommend her services if you want great mermaid hair or bright coloring, as she is truly talented. But I will not be going back.

The first time I went to Avante, I left very pleased with the results. Ive got extremely thick hair, and it usually takes two hours just to foil me. I was out of Avante--foils, color, cut, blow--in about 90 minutes, and I loved the work that my stylist did. She did a partial, then filled in the rest with a dark blonde color to brighten my darker roots. Unfortunately, I found out theres a reason it had always taken so long for my foils to be done previously. When I went back eight weeks later, she did the same thing and while in the salon it looked fabulous, when I got home and stepped into the different light of my bathroom, I was shocked to see that underneath the top layer of my hair, my roots were totally visible. I was going away the next day and didnt have time for a fix. At my third and final time appt. with Avante, I explained what happened and the stylist basically said that there was no way to totally hide my roots. Umm, what?! Ive been getting my hair highlighted for ten years and have NEVER left the salon seeing roots. The stylist said shed try more foils, but I had the same result and Im not going to be returning to Avante. An experienced stylist should have known that the technique she used would be okay for a quick fill-in in between full foils, but not as the main treatment. Maybe this would be a great technique for someone with very thin hair, but on me it just doesnt work. For $200+, I expect to leave the salon without roots showing. The salon is very nice, the staff is friendly, and its generally a pleasant atmosphere. Im just personally not a fan.

Very unprofessional- Frank, one of the co-owners at the Exton location accused me of lying about how long its been since i had my color when I went back to him for a redo. He said my roots were about 3 weeks old when in fact its only been 1 week. I was speechless when confronted. And this could have been easily checked if he only checked his "books" he would know how long its been and that I called the very next day asking for a redo. I suppose a redo is not a salon given right but it sure is a way to keep the clients happy. Hence, in my case, I was willing to give them a second chance and if the problem was corrected, I would have gone back. Either way, the original stylist did a poor job applying the color, not blending the highlights in correctly and I expected him to fix it since he is supposed to be level 4 (that;s another ridiculous concept, I dont even have enough time to criticize,). Not only did the redo came out worse than the original color but I felt disrespected as a client. The attitude is far far too superior for such mediocre salon. Theyre in a strip mall, for crying out loud. This isnt a high end salon (no comparison to Laurentius or Raya Haig, etc.) to be putting on such airs. I am offended by their vulgar ways and the way I was treated as a client has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. I will not only never go back there but I will not recommend this facility to any of my friends.

Since moving to this area, I went to a number of different salons/stylists until I found one that really got it right, Christy (I think shes fantastic with color). They use great products for hair color, their prices are reasonable, and the salon has a good vibe.

Have been going to Avante on Main Street for over two years for highlights and haircuts - it is a great salon with reasonable prices for the level of service you are receiving. Jen is my stylist and she is amazing.

I think its a wonderful place, Dani B. is my stylist for 3 years now. Also I had some wax done few time. Everybody is there for years, they look well established, pleasant and professional.
