Joseph Anthonys Salon is a class-act, from the building itself to the people within. Long story short, I was in trouble--my hair was a mess of knots that, frankly, was awing--a result from a stay in the hospital where my hair was severely neglected. What in the world could I do? I had spent tireless hours (with lots of pain, I might add) trying to get these two crazy "knots" out of my head. Honestly, they seemed more like hair stones, they were that compact and hard. I brought my concerns up to my friend, Alaina, who works at this wonderful salon, asking if she thought Joseph Anthonys could help me. She brought it up the very next day at work, and I was told Rachel, very sweet and very understanding, volunteered to help without another thought. So, off to Joseph Anthonys I went, my very first time. The place is absolutely gorgeous--modern, chic, and clean. The people who work there are friendly and willing to cater to your every need (like getting you a glass of water). So, what ended up happening was that my hair was too big of a beast. Rachel tried her very best, something that is much appreciated, until Joseph Anthony, himself, made his way over to check on me. He took a look and told us that if we kept trying to work the knots out it could result in two things, 1) inevitably, a ton more pain and 2) maybe even bald spots. Yikes! Then, to my surprise, Mr. Joseph Anthony decided to take me under his wing. He gave me the once over, decided I could pull of a short haircut, and offered to do it for me then and there--despite being retired from the actual cutting business. He ended up saving what I had left of my hair, giving me an adorable hairstyle that I get complimented on ALL OF THE TIME. To Alaina, Rachel, and Joseph Anthony--Thank you!!!!! You helped me feel pretty and confident again after what I had gone through. Joseph Anthonys Retreat, Spa, and Salon is five stars, 10/10 everywhere from atmosphere to talent to the kindness of the people working there.

Just went to Joseph Anthony Spa and from start to finish the experience was absolutely amazing. As I walked through the doors of the rustic, beautifully designed building, I was welcomed with smiling, polite and helpful employees. They showed me up to to the spa where I was immediately escorted into the state of the art changing room-complete with a 360degree rain shower that was so relaxing I found it difficult to get out. After changing into my comfy robe they brought me to the transition room (a dimly lit room with comfy couches and chairs) where they gave me a complimentary foot soak. The most impressive part of my day, however, was the swedish massage itself. I cant stress enough that if you do decide to go there, while all the massage therapists are fantastic, I strongly recommend seeing Sean. After a brief consultation he told me I would have a massage like nothing Ive ever had before. Im happy to report he was right! It was unbelievable, completely different than your stereotypical massage. He really honed in on my problematic areas, even ones I didnt know existed. I left completely relaxed and feeling really great : ) I have to say, there really wasnt anything I could complain about. I went with my mom and it was truly a memorable experience, I will certainly be returning in the future.

I really did want to like this place. I want to first say that this review is only for my hair stylist. This salon seemed very professional and my stylists assistant was very sweet. I am only writing this review because I felt that my stylist didnt really pay attention to what I was asking for. I told her specifically what I was looking for (Ive finally found what works for me so I dont stray from that). We agreed on no layers or framing shorter than 2 inches below the chin. I was horrified to find that half of my hair was cut to chin length or shorter! It looks like I have a bob with long hair underneath. I have never hated a haircut as much as I do this one. I felt my stylist was rushed or her mind was elsewhere. I selected a level 4 stylist, but I may as well have had a level 1 and saved some money. I really need someone who listens to me. I have tried many things with my hair so I know what works for me. Needless to say I will not be back. Nice establishment, not for me.

I have been here twice and it is the best hair salon I have ever been to! The staff are all friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I have gone to Kelly twice for highlights and lowlights, a gloss, and a cut. She is one of the best hair stylists I have ever worked with! I am EXTREMELY particular about my blonde hair. I like it to be more on the "cool" side as opposed to "warm". My last hair stylist wasnt listening to what I wanted in terms of my hair color and sort of had an "I know best" attitude. Kelly took the time to understand what I was looking for, she even let me show her pictures so that she knew exactly what I wanted in my hair color. My hair color has turned out gorgeous both times Kelly colored it. She is extremely knowledgeable about maintaining highlights and even helped me to find a blue shampoo (which helps to reduce brassiness). I have also been very happy with my haircut the two times Kelly has cut my hair. I will keep coming back!

Great!! I sent my mother there for her birthday, she loved it and cried!! I went back with my father and loved it too. The staff is VERY PLEASANT, something hard to find now days. They are both professional and helpful, if you dont know what you want tell them and theyll steer you in the right direction. The whole place is BEAUTIFUL and relaxing, A TRUE SPA. I am happy to say I just booked my parents 2nd visit as a xmas gift. They are doing a great job keep it up! :) P.S. I am african american (who lives in upper darby, pa) and they treat us with just as much respect and politness and others, I know sometimes we do not like to venture out so far and the location is was in made me think twice(very suburban). But they show no discrimination. I RECOMMEND ANY AND EVERYONE!

Ive been going to Nikki for at least 4 years and she has ALWAYS done a great job, so this rating is way overdue! What makes Nikki so special? She listens to your ideas, gives honest and educated feedback and after helping you come to a decision, she delivers with amazing coloring and cutting skills. My teenage daughter and preteen son go to Nikki as well. Since she has taken the time to get to know our family, we all love her. She is very talented and an awesome person too! The salon itself is top-notch. Ive gotten waxing, spray tans, and facials over the years and have been overall happy with the services. I only wish the reward points could be used on any service, not just select ones. Try out this salon, especially Nikki. She is the best.
