Honestly, this place is a dump. How many times do I have to wait for the person on the counter to stop texting on the phone and acknowledge that I am waiting right in front of them to scan my card? Let me tell you 1 incident. 2 months ago, I was walking in to this gym in front of the counter. This guy was was on his phone. I waited until he acknowledge my presence. Then, I scan my card and he immediately went back to his phone. So I went upstairs to the locker room to put away my belongings. Once I came out from the locker room, I saw him walking towards me and he told me that I have a balance to pay. I told him that I lost my debit card. I had to renew it but I left it at home. He asked my gym partner if he had money to pay for me. I told him the next time I come to l.a. fitness, I will give them my debit card information. Then, he walked back downstairs and when I looked down from the railing, I saw him using his phone behind the counter again!! Lol wowwwww.... Let me tell you another incident. A couple of weeks ago, I went to this gym to get a workout. After my workout, I went to the ladies locker room. They ran out of paper towel. I wasnt shocked. This happens all... the time... im not exaggerating. One of the staff... who is suppose to clean and stock supplies was on her phone sitting down on the bench. She was talking about how much she is mad at her friend and started cursing on the phone. Then, a lady ask her if she can provide more paper towel in the plastic paper towel container because its empty. She told the lady "no, nomore..." and immediately went back to finish her conversation over the phone. I am so serious. This really happened!!! The only reason why I come to this gym is because its the only gym I can go to near my place and its across the street from my job. I need to practice for a hot chocolate run in philly coming up. This is the only place I can go to practice running. Its a shame that this gym is in such a great location, right across KING OF PRUSSIA MALL but these stories about this gym does sound true so far. This place is a mess and some staff arent professional. Need better management! I know this place is old... but they can still try to keep the place clean. They can still make sure there is soap and paper towel filled. They should also be more professional and not go up to my partner... and ask him if he got money on him. So unprofessional.

The machines are old as hell, the dumbells are a disorganized mess. The plates are all different brands and slide off the bars as if they were greased. Honestly reminds me of a prison gym (although I admit ive never actually been to one). It says Ballys in enormous letters on the front with virtually no mention of LA fitness anywhere except for the front desk which can be pretty confusing if you dont know whats going on. That being said, I find that the gym is rarely crowded (at least during the hours that I often go) and although the machines are older than dirt they are all totally functional. They dont have all of the machines that I would like but it is pretty well equipped. Probably not worth the sign up fee and high monthly rate but if you talk to the managers and act like youre not sure if you want to spend so much money they will probably tell you theyre doing you a HUGE favor and discount it or waive the initiation fee. The only thing that I really like about the gym is that the staff is actually pretty friendly and accommodating which is pretty rare for LA Fitness from what I hear. My friend signed up and later put me on his "VIP List" which is supposed to entitle me to 2 consecutive weeks of free use of the gym. When i called to make sure they would honor this they told me that you had to put people on your VIP list when you first signed up. I argued it and they promptly told me that they would still honor the VIP pass and I came in and the manager personally printed the pass out for me. He also did not overly pressure me to join the gym which I appreciated. Overall, its probably not worth it, but if you can finagle a free 2-week pass off one of your member friends, i would suggest going for it and seeing if its right for you. They also offer a free three day trial for anyone, however, they do pressure you to sign up if you elect to take this route, but if you stick to your guns you should be able to work out for 3 days and get out of there membership-free if you so desire.

Location is old and rusty but I still used to like this place for the steam room and jacuzzi. I even had many personal training sessions here which was well worth it..After this changed to LA Fitness everythings changed except for the gym equipment and lockers and amenities etc..changed are the people, trainers etc.Try out the gym if you want but DO NOT sign up for any personal training sessions now. It is a beautiful scam.. I was offered a free session and then cajoled into signing up for sessions. After half an hour of discussion I was told I will get 8 sessions for $300. I was happy with it but was thinking each session will be an hour as it used to be in Ballys. They gave me the contract to sign and there number of sessions was left blank! I was told do not worry we will give 8 sessions for sure. Stupid me believed the guys there since I never had a bad experience before at the place. Next day email came saying 4 sessions. I replied to cancel my personal training. NO ITS NOT POSSIBLE..Already $300 withdrawn from the bank.. Scheduled one session which went well..Missed the next one was charged as per policy. OK with it. The third one reached the gym at 10:35 for 10:30 appointment ..Didnt find the trainer so thought he might be not there..Contacted the front desk before I left the gym..No surprise to see session gone. 1 session left now... Talked to them about the 8 sessions and the guy who signed me up says he had told 6 sessions and not 8..since this is no where mentioned he can screw me now.. Asked him about the third session which I didnt receive and he said trainer would have been there and you have not swiped the card..I had no card with me so signed in using my phone number that day...Easily they took away at least 3 sessions. I request everyone not to fall into their trap. They will just take away your money...its 25 minute session and over charged at $50 per hour...and the trainers keep changing and transactions are not straight forward now...

I belonged to this club in the late 1980s when it was a new-ish Ballys. It was fine then. Twenty-plus years later, I rejoined, and they havent *touched* the locker rooms -- the same tile, the same lockers, the same sinks. Only twenty-plus years older and dirtier and less functional. When LAF took over, I was told repeatedly that they would be renovating and all would be new within a year. Here we sit with only the pool renovated. Same lockers, same disgusting old equipment, same dirt. In addition, I signed up for personal training. I was sold a contract at a certain price. The trainer is great -- Charles is amazing. But, within weeks of signing my contract, I was informed that Charles had been promoted to Master Trainer, so I had to pay an additional $40 or so per month for him. Either give up the trainer who was helping me or pay more. They charged me more for something totally out of my control. Oh, and Charles is their only master trainer, and the only one who has stuck around. Hes the only trainer you can get with some assurances that hell be there next week. I tried to cancel, went to the center to do so, and was told that only the Operations Manager was allowed to cancel contracts. So I fill out a form, send it to CA HQ, and they cancel my training *after* the month I wanted canceled. I speak to the ops manager and he says they require 30 days notice. Fair enough, its in the 6-point font of the contract. But the person who gave me the form to send never mentioned that. In short, save your money. Buy a treadmill. Join Club LaMaison. Join the Y. Anything but LAF, especially this location. They cant be bothered to clean it up and modernize it, they cant be bothered to provide good customer service. This. Location. Sucks.
