Watch out for this gym. Its new but not worth joining. From 4pm-8pm the gym is so packed that its difficult to get any equipment. I often have to change my workout or stop working out because no equipment is available. The mens locker room consistently smells awful. The garbages are never empty and the bathroom is a mess. I never see anyone cleaning anything there either. Another reviewer said that the gym is overcrowded because of the new year. It is now September and has gotten worse. They are still trying to get new members even though the place is packed. The trainers have been having trouble training people because all of the equipment is always being used. the second you get up for a drink or stretch, people will run and grab your equipment. The lockers have become an issue. If people are wearing jackets in, all of the lockers are taken. It will get much worse this winter. I have noticed that people have been leaving garbage and weights around the equipment. This may be because there no room in the garbage cans and its a hassle to find room to put your weights back because the gym is so crowded. Nobody has been picking it up and it sits around for hours. The paper towels are regularly out as well so cleaning the equipment yourself is impossible. It seems like there are always guys bothering women in the gym as well so I wouldnt describe this gym as women or kid friendly. That is more a result of the members than the establishment though.

The last review was written right after New Years. I think its a common phenomenon for gyms to be packed after New Years. I typically get there around 5:30 and although there are a lot of people there, I have never waited more than 1 minute for a tradmill. Likewise, there are times when people are using the machines and weights that I want, but they have so many other options that I always find something else to work on while I wait for it to be free. I actually seem to see a lot of cleaning people there. There is an occasion when they run out of paper towels (but it has to happen sometime, right?) If you let anyone know, its taken care of ASAP. The girls locker rooms are very clean and very classy. I think the people are very friendly there as well... and thats what makes it for me. I also see a trainer once/week and I love their program. They have helped me with everything that Im looking for and are always willing to help those not signed up in their program as well. Again, the people make the experience... the staff is always super friendly and I feel like as someone who is new to the area, LA Fitness is my home away from home. I recommend it to everyone.

I have been a member of the Monroeville, Pa spa for about 5 years and really enjoy the atmosphere. There is always enough equipment to go around all the time and the place is keep very clean as evidence by the janitors always working at it. I tried the signature club at Bakery Square and did not like it as much as Monroeville because of the vastly different lighting, equipment setup and clientele. Monroeville is more down-to-earth possibly due to the fact that it is not know as a "signature" club. Finally, LaFitness should have all of their places the same so that when we visit signature club we have to pay an additional fee. One should be able to go to Hollywood or wherever and the entrance should e guaranteed without additional costs. In the meantime, I will stick with Monroeville as is my wife and daughters.

SCAM ARTISTS The GM is the head salesman. That says quite a bit. He offered our company free enrollment for $34 per member, per month. This does NOT include the racquetball courts, AND WE STATED UP FRONT WE WILL NOT USE THE NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP. Shortly after we enrolled we were shown their website. We realized everyone else is paying $19.99 + $99 enrollment. That means everyone at the dealership is paying $70 more per year, per member, every year. We tried to cancel by phone & by email within the refund period, but we were ignored. Once the refund period expired, we were told we could cancel and re-enroll for $19.99 per month, plus a $99 enrollment fee. That means they scammed us out of $30 bucks. After you enroll they will try to sell you a personal trainer package. WALK AWAY PEOPLE...WALK AWAY.

Ive been going there since sept 2010. I learned certain tips about when to come and when not to. Never go on a Monday, although its a great way to start off the work week do not go! Its overcrowded, and you will never get a spot. I recommend going on Saturday or Sunday. If you go on a weekday then try going later in the night (8:00, 9:00). Thats the best time to go. The gym is not really dirty, but it is crowded, and they need more staff. I understand that they need to make money, but they should respect the customers. The gym is a good gym, but with mediocre management. If there was another gym in monroeville Id consider going there, but theres not. LA Fitness needs to open an extra store because the amount of people going to the gym is affecting the service we are receiving. Im only 17.

L.A. Fitness in Monroeville is by far the worst gym Ive ever belonged to. From 5-7pm on weekdays its so packed it interferes with your workout (its pointless to even go on Mondays). On a typical day, there are at least 5 trainers doing absolutely nothing, with no employees cleaning the equipment. This may not be as big of an issue if there were enough sanitizing stations for the members to clean the equipment themselves. The bathrooms are very disgusting with overflowing trashcans. I get the impression that the staff doesnt care at all about the customers (this is made apparent by the fact that they pass out flyers and actively seek new members for an already extremely crowded gym). If there was another decent gym in Monroeville, this place would go under.

Never sign contract. They are scam and trying to steal your money out of your pocket. I signed up for personal training session for a month, but it was NOT a monthly contract, I was contracted for a year! The personal trainer who signed me up was not honest, even after sign up, feels like he was using me just to get a commission or fill up his assigned number for brining the customer. Do not sign for a contract, if you do make sure you read contract before and get a copy of it and check everything with your personal trainer. This is my second time writing the review of this location about the same issue, but now I just cant find it. I guess it was deleted?

The women locker room smells awful. The rug is molded, and the lockers smells so bad that I bring the smell into my belongings back to home. The smell is so strong that it stays with you even if you dont go there for a day or two. This problem can easily be solved by changing the rug to cleanable material and most important a simple solution for the lockers is to spray inside the lockers with disinfecting solution or wipe it with some solution. It doesnt seem they have ever done that. All those expensive devices become so invaluable being accompanied with that smell that sure is very harmful as well as offending.
