I normally have curly African American hair which I have been growing out into a fro since Spring of last year. I came into this establishment and showed the barber an explicitly detailed PICTURE of the cut that I wanted just to make sure that there was no miscommunication: a temp fade on the sides but only an inch or so above the ear. I wanted to keep all of my length on top and on the sides and just shape it up, keeping it round. This barber, despite my protest, almost immediately started cutting the top of my head. When I noted that he was cutting the top and sides, he said that he was just "Evening it out." I trusted the barber and tried to enjoy the cut. I noticed other customers and even other barbers watching me as this catastrophe took place. When he handed me the mirror what I saw was essentially a high top fade. Excuse me an UNEVEN high top fade. I noticed this immediately. The barber continued to say that this was fine and even. It was particularly apparent when I picked/combed my hair out later. All of my length was gone. I was quickly rushed out of the chair with no offer to fix the obvious mistakes. I also did not have time to linger around after having wasted an hour and a half there, as I was attending a family reunion and my grandfather is ill. The hair on the right side of my head and the top is still longer than the left and I will have to get another cut to just fix this barbers mistakes. This was my first time in a Philadelphia barber shop and I regret it. I did not get what I wanted. I was extremely dissatisfied with service. The barber didnt even finish whatever the h*ll he was trying to do with my hair. No attempt at compensation was made. I know kids in high school who could do a better job. Save yourself some time and money, and the humiliation that I am dealing with now, as a result of having come to Callis-N-Callis.
