Last year at Christmas time I had a fiasco involving delivery of a package that was completely the fault of the employees of this post office. The package had tracking on it, and on the day it was supposed to be delivered it wasnt. The next morning a note showed up in the online tracking info saying an attempted delivery was made and a slip was left. I was home all day, and no one attempted jack, nor was there a slip. This happened numerous times over the course of 10 days or so, and I kept calling and addressing it with employees at their location who kept giving me excuses that didnt match up with what was being entered into tracking. One day I was told the delivery woman turned around in the middle of her shift and quit for the day because she was getting frostbite on her feet, and yet the note on the tracking said an attempted delivery had been made and a slip left. After more than two weeks I filed a complaint with the main office and said I suspected my package had been stolen by a postal employee. I eventually got a call back from the manager of this office, who told me he was going to go out to the truck, find my package, and deliver it himself. To his credit he did do this, though it took him until late in the evening so I had to sit at home on my ass waiting. All in all the package reached my hands more than 30 days late... and the contents were broken. Now its a little over a year later and I am struggling to get this office to honor scheduled package pick ups. I moved away for half a year and then moved back to a different house serviced by this same station. If youre not aware, you can schedule for your carrier to pick up packages from your home if you are unable to transport them to the post office. I run a home business and I dont drive, so I rely on this service. You schedule it online, get a confirmation number and you can choose to have the pickup happen during your regular delivery window, or pay $20 for pickup at a time you choose. Last Saturday I scheduled a pickup and they didnt come, so I called Monday and spoke to someone who asked the address and then said they would come that day. No one came, so now its Tuesday and I have 7 packages that need to go out that are just sitting here. I need to be able to rely on this service on a daily basis; what am I supposed to do now?!?

I hope the carriers from 53rd and Florence read these reviews. I echo the other reviewers. My mail box is in a vestibule..do you think they would bother to come in and put the tenants mail in the appropriate box? Yes..1 out of 10 times. Otherwise, thrown on the vestibule floor. Do I receive all my mail? I didnt get my Gas bill last winter, for 3 months. I had to call the gas company and pay a whopping back bill. Personal mail is a 50/50 proposition. and if there seems to be something inside the envelope, forget it..a little gift I was expecting from a friend never made it. Only recently have I received packages from online purchases. I had given up doing that until I got carried away by something on ebay. Not expensive so I figured no great loss. But in the past the carriers never left pink slips so you had no idea if the package had come or not. It got to the point where there were 3 packages just sitting there at Florence st. until I called and said"What the hell is going on" Another time I was waiting for a package and they said it was lost. Although the tracking said "delivered" Ultimately after bugging them to death, one of the folks in the lounge and movie room got off his duff and came back with this news. The package had been there all the time, sitting on a shelf and had never been scanned into the system. No answer as to how the tracking came up "delivered" As you can see Ive built up a lot of disdain for most of Florence station and really needed to vent my frustrations. But I would not fair to paint all the employees with the same brush. The folks at the windows always greeted me with a smile and were as friendly as could be expected in that kind of environment.Remember they have no control over how many clerks are on duty. You can blame that on the probable move toward privatization. But never the less..its the delivery personnel that in this case break the camels back!

I have never been in this location where I am not stuck in line for at least 20 minutes (I have tried multiple different times of the day with no luck). Window agents are friendly enough, when they are actually at the window to help people, but more often than not there is a line of people and only a single worker who is more often than not in the back looking for packages for the next person in line. Speaking of packages, this location also serves my apartment/house and over the last four months I have had 5 packages "delivered" yet nothing ever on my front porch (I work from home so I get the notices right away but still nothing there). I have never once had an "attempted delivery tag" placed on the door despite tracking information indicating a delivery attempt was made. Talking with neighbors, there is a long standing joke to call the post office to complain and then magically the next day the delivered package shows up on your front door. Additionally, I have a handful of pieces of mail that were sent to me from my office that have never arrived (including my W2s this year) where I know what day the item was mailed, received confirmation of address mailed to, yet the items never show up. At the same time, I have never once gotten our mail carrier to pick up outgoing mail from our box and I inevitably have to find a postal box or go to this location to drop off mail. I cannot express enough just how much I hate this postal office (and Philadelphia Mail as a whole). I have never had this much trouble in any of the other East Coast cities I have lived in.

It gets one star but not the fault of the employees. The cut backs on employees that were made are horrible. These employees work very hard and are as pleasurable as possible but are overwhelmed. In our neighborhood at least at certain peak hours for package pickup especially in the evening and during the holiday time there should be more people hired to work behind the counter. One doing 2 doing the packages, 2 accepting packages, 2 doing the other stuff. Its bad enough OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SUFFERS REGULAR TIMES OF THE YEAR BUT THE HOLIDAYS AS WELL ITS NOT FAIR. AS YOU NOT PROVIDING HELP FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES. The mail carriers should as well have helpers 1 deliver mail and one deliver packages so they can atleast give people a chance to open the door to get their package. UPS HAS HELPERS AND A PLACE TO PICK UP YOUR PACKAGE AFTER HOURS. YOU GUYS WONT EVEN STAY OPEN 1 EXTRA HOUR. .

I would love to give this post office 5 stars but I cant. Everytime I have to pickup a package that could not be delivered because I wasnt home, the line is always long with 1 person at the window and if youre not in there by the time the other person come out to ask if anyone is picking up packages then you will be in line for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Now lets talk about mail delivery, as of lately we have had maybe 2 or 3 good mail carriers, 1 is actually pregnant and is very good considering she 5 months pregnant. But the others prior to the 3, was the PITS....I have never had mail delivered at 9:00 P.M....where they do that at....I guess at this post office. We have had 2 great mail carriers for the past 20 to 25 years. We miss Wardell and Kenny...if we cant have them back, please have the new people trained by these 2 professional mail carriers. Thank you
