Wow! By far the WORST rock climbing facility in Philadelphia! YOU DO NOT FEEL WELCOME!! The staff is so unprofessional. I came with my camp today and had the worst time! The staff was rude, yelling at little kids to sit down and face the wall! Not family friendly at all! We sat down and did nothing for the whole 2 hours we were there! The long, red bearded guy with glasses (dont care to know the name of) had the most and most cocky attitude there! He yelled at every kid he saw, and made rude sarcastic remarks to everybody! The food corner of the faculty is a big joke! 3/4 of the time there was no one at the cash register and was very hard to get service! When angry, the (cocky) cashier banged on the cash register just because kids were having a disagreement in the food corner and stormed away! There are so many more reasons why you should NOT go to this facility but i am afraid i will not have enough space to list them all! All in all do NOT come the Philadelphia Rock gym (at least not in East Falls) You and your family will be very disappointed at the sub par service you get there!!!! (IF I COULD GIVE THIS FACILITY A ZERO I WOULD!!)

Ive been to about 25 gyms across the country and this was one of the worst for the money. Before the climbing began we had to fill out wavers which is pretty standard. They had tablets for this purpose which were cheap chalk filled peices of garbage that couldnt recognize touch commands. After 10 minutes playing fiddling with these we were informed wed have to take a bouldering class for $45 dollars to climb unless we were experts. I was able to opt out of the class and just take a test since Id climbed for a decade. My gf decided to just watch instead of paying the fee. The climbing was ok. Setting wasnt inventive and holds were pretty old and not well maintained. Most of the grades were illegible because the sharpie had rubbed off the tape. Once we were dont we went to change in the locker room. Which was really hurt a bathroom with nowhere to put your stuff. For $25 dollars for a no rental day fee, this is probably the worst value in the country. Oh, and its situated in a pretty bad neighborhood of Philly. We left with no goodbye from the staff to never return.

Terrible activity...terrible business...and most of all, PRG is UNSAFE! Please do not go there. Please do not let YOUR kid get hurt! This is not a light, harmless activity. PRG does not take your safety seriously. I am not a hot head or chronically grumpy customer. This is truly the first Google review of my life. Training was poor. It made me feel stupid. After working alone for a bit, we asked for more help and none came for 20 minutes. Finally, we decided to go ahead and my child tried climbing the wall. The rope slipped from the harness, and she fell about 7-feet down. Fortunately, she is OK but if it happened higher up, we would have been taking her to the emergency room. Finally, what is wrong with you rock climbers anyway? What a boring, dull-brained activity! Going up and down a wall. Thats it. Just think about it for a minute...whats the attraction. folks? Run, bike, swim, or play a team sport...so many good ways to exercise...and you pick this? Climb a tree instead...its free!

Today was my first time at PRG - East Falls and first time at a real rock climbing gym. It was smaller than I expected based on what Ive seen on tv and the movies but big enough. I cant compare it to other gyms but the instructor said the other PRG locations have slightly taller climbs. After purchasing a Groupon, my friend and I went for the introduction class. The class was only about safety and not actually how to climb. They showed us how to properly use the harness, ropes, and belay equipment. After watching each member of our class (six people) correctly do the belay and knot tying correctly, we were allowed to use the equipment. One piece of advice I have is make sure you listen to the safety techniques for the belaying. I injured my hand when my friend fell because even though he told me to grip the rope one way, I kept grabbing it with the wrong hand. It was completely my fault for gripping wrong and he was fast to help.

I stopped by PRG East Falls while visiting Philly so I have only climbed here once. The gym was mostly empty and I filled out the waiver ahead of time but still had to wait about 20 mins to get checked in and take a fall test-? to boulder which took another 5. Despite there probably being well over 100 problems the setting felt unimaginative. Less anecdotally there are tons of "afterthought" unused feet scattered throughout their problems at all grades. Routes are not color coded by holds but are taped and share their taped holds which were difficult to follow. The gym is also extremely poorly lit. I only bouldered but none of the rope climbs looked much higher than 30 ft. Giving 1 star mostly due to how overpriced this gym is considering what they are offering. Would cost just under $30 to climb ropes with a $19 day pass and $10 rental fee. Hopefully they will lower their prices or better improve the gym.

So I went there with my camp. The staff was rude and constantly yelled at campers, for good and bad reasons. A bad example is yelling at a child to face the wall as a punishment for play fighting. However, they did try to make sure the campers werent running and the only way to do that was by raising thier voices. The cashier also slammed the cash register after getting frustrated with a child. The place was under staffed and the staff members seemed confused. They were rude to the children with no good reason. The equipment was old and dusty which didnt seem sturdy. Its in the middle of nowhere. You would need a staff member to help climb each time unless you are with someone that is experienced. I would not recommend going to the Philadelphia rock gym, at least not the one in east falls. Id give it zero stars if it was an option.

The facility is okay, but the staff is great. There is an introductory package for $45 for new climbers, which includes required instruction about how the fall. Kind of annoying, but its super quick and includes 2 weeks of unlimited gym access, which is an amazing deal. There is also a groupon/living social deal available to get this for $24. There are no showers. There are no fitness/yoga classes. The floors are minimally padded and you have to reposition ground pads when climbing. It is mostly a bouldering gym, with a few overhang problems. There are a few top rope and lead climb routes as well. Again, the staff is amazing. And they play pretty good music!

Im an inexperienced climber and they were very helpful in getting me set up to climb quickly while also taking my safety into consideration. The set up is pretty conducive to both beginners and people with experience. Its definitely a place geared towards bouldering so thats really the only reason Im not giving it 5 stars even though I personally like bouldering more. A great overall experience and feel not to mention the sense of community you feel in there with others. My girlfriend left something on a bench the entire time we were there (a couple hours) thought it was lost but not a single person so much as moved it from where she left it.
