I trained here for a year and really enjoyed the facility, until I moved and needed to cancel and experienced the worst customer service ive ever been subjected to. I am a gym director myself and being well versed in the legal procedures of gym agreements I have never such such illegal and sketchy staff. After my year contract I stayed for another 6 months, then moved to Jersey for work. My contract clearly states I can cancel with 30 day notice (I was sure to get a copy upon signing up) OR can cancel at any pioint if I move outside a 25 mile range, both of which are applicable. I called 5 times over the first month and left a note with the manager who never seems to be there requesting the cancellation. I was patient despite the fact my card was still being charged and emailed 3x, left 4 more voicemails and spoke to the front desk staff another 3x. The following month I was charged again. The NEXT month (Ive been trying since October of 2016) I got a new CC. I called to try and cancel but the front desk yet again could not help me, she was very nice and I informed her I also need to update my CC so I do not get overdraft fees, she said the manager would call me back to cancel or update my CC, he did not call back and my account was hit with a $60 overdue fee despite my attempt to at least update my CC at a gym I had not checked in at in months. In December I made the trip back to Philly to speak in person, manager was not there. I informed the very nice front desk lady that if my agreement is not cancelled within a month I would have to report them to the BBB. I called today to offer one last chance to cancel my contract before using my companies legal resources to handle the issue. I did not request a refund of the $130 that has been charged since my first attempt to cancel , I just wanted to stop paying more. I explained this to Ed the current FD at the desk who said the manager was there (OMG A MANAGER ACTUALLY WORKS THERE!?). He explained that due to the distance he would need to walk between the front desk and the manager in the back he could not grab him..I explained that I had been told a total of 17 times over the past 6 months that he would call me back and he hasnt. I said I would be happy to be put on hold for as long as necessary for the manager to be free. Ed informed me he would not be getting the manager. I have never written a negative review, especially for small niche independent gyms as I am a professional athlete and like to support these business, but the illegal activity and lack of concern for their members is astounding. Ive directed gyms in the Philadelphia area for years and I have never ignored a customers requests, let alone very reasonable and completely within the limitations of our gym contracts. Im hoping maybe this review will finally get me call back from the manager to cancel my membership....I just want to cancel....this is insane and very illegal.

I have been part of the Powerhouse gym family for almost 4 years now, and I could truly say that there are no better gyms as this one, in the Philadelphia area. The name speaks for itself. If you are looking to maximize in strength and size, this is the place where youll have "Power". If youre looking for a true family, this is the best "House" you should get into. At the end of the day, we are just a bunch of superheroes look-a-like stuck in one location...lol. POWERHOUSE GYM is the place to be!! Didnt really like there was a guy there the other day arguing with the staff and he reached over and took something from the counter my last gym was like that I had to leave that day I cancelled my membership and am now at LA fitness its pricy but at least you dont have to deal with crazy people fighting in the gym

Ive been a member here for about a year and the staff is always very friendly and courteous. Its a serious gym for the serious bodybuilder, power lifter or fitness enthusiast and the atmosphere is always a great motivator! Powerhouse Gym of Philadelphia is the best hardcore gym in the tri-state area!

Been going to this gym for over a year and Ive seen a lot of improvement in my body. Its a place for people who want a serious work out. They have great equipment and the staff is very down to earth. I would highly recommend Powerhouse Gym

This gym is under new management and doesnt know how to talk to members. Theu also have hidden fees know I see why everyone left to join other gyms. Wont be long until someone punches the tiny short fake marine manager in the face

Was an employee there, and if you quit the job the Owner Lou will not pay your final check that you are owed. Also, the equipment is really old and torn up. The Bathroom is extremely filty as the gym is , too.

Powerhouse is an incredible gym! The high tech treadmills are super. Its real comfortable too. Real old school and you cant beat that $9.99 month and personal training is only 50 bucks for a whole week!

Been coming here for about two months and I gotta say I love it here. The price is cheap. They have everything that I need for my workout. Its got an old school feel to it. The staff is friendly.

Great gym. Major upgrades to the equipments and friendly staff. i like the deals that they have on the supplements they got there. Great deals! so way to go guys! one of my favorite gyms to go to.

Love it here. The deadlift platform alone was worth the membership, if youre into that kind of thing. Gritty, old school feel. Cant say enough good things about it.
