Ive eaten at the Gulf Stream for 20 years and have enjoyed it. But tonight changed me, perhaps, forever. Their air conditioner quite working earlier in the afternoon but instead of informing their customers for the early evening dinner that the air conditioner wasnt working, they herded us into the restaurant. It was so hot that we asked the waitress why it was so hot, she replied that they had gotten a new unit and she didnt know why it was so hot. As the eight of us (and the people around us) got hotter and hotter, and our meals took longer and longer to be served to us, we got to the point that we were too hot to eat. I asked for the manager who informaed me that the a/c quit working earlier in the day and had no answer when I asked him why they didnt inform their customers. If it werent for my wife being embarrassed, I would have demanded 50% off. But, to not make a scene, I paid the $40 bill + tip and left. I run a restaurant and I would have never done that to my customers. It was unthinkable.

We had been in the car for 10 hours and were looking forward to some local seafood. We made a reservation for 5:45 just in case they would have nothing open when we arrived. When we got there, they were steady but not busy (there were many open tables). We arrived at 5:15, were seated by 5:20, and had water by 5:23. So far so good...We were unaware that this restaurant has a reservation penalty, which is ridiculous. Although we arrived at 5:15, we had to order off a different, and far more expensive, menu from those around us because we had a reservation. We spoke with the manager, who simply shrugged and said it was their "policy." The food was ok. Filet was served a bit cold, but was prepared as requested. The crab legs were ok. I will say, however, that their mashed potatoes were AMAZING! The views were ok. Local places struggle often due to their focus being on themselves and not pleasing the customers. We wont be back.

Words cannot even describe the exceptional service and outstanding dining experience that my new wife and I receieved at this restaurant when we held our wedding reception at the Gulfstream Cafe. We had 3 dedicated servers and were given the rooftop deck as the site for our 50 guests. The food could only be described as divine. Every single guest raved about their food and I have not heard a single complaint from the perfect steaks down to the chicken parmesan. My bride had Lobster tail topped with lump crab and I had the Grouper. Both were excellently prepared in 5 star restaurant fashion and delivered with a smile by the very attentive and polite waitstaff. Every wish and there were lots of them by our guests were greeted by a yes maam or yes sir by this waitstaff. Without a doubt the best restaurant in the Myrtle Beach/Garden City/ Murrells Inlet area!

We went for dinner around sunset on a Sunday night. I did a search to find high rated restaurants close to where we were staying in Garden City and this place came up, which is about 3 miles from us. It was my parents in their mid-50s and myself (early 30s). There was no wait when we arrived. I had the swordfish on special (blackened), my mother had the fried flounder, and my father had the salmon. All three dishes were amazing. Yes, its expensive but the prices are pretty standard for a waterfront seafood restaurant in the area. We shared the apple crumble with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert, my favorite. After dinner, we stayed around a little bit to enjoy the view. The view alone was worth the cost. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we will return on future trips to the area.

After seeing the great reviews for this Resturaunt I was very disappointed. The menus was extremely Pricey. And the food was good but did not live up to The generous pricing. There were no happy hour specials. The salad was not included with the Meal. And the server was sloppy. Butter and salad dressing were served in little cups that were overfilled and dripping over the sides. My salad was forgotten. And was boring. For the 25-30 Dollar price range I would have liked cleaner tables And more sophiscated service. It was like a over priced fish house. On a positive side. My filet was delicious. And the view is excellent! If I went again I would Go early evening and sit outside.

Turns out a reservation will have you waiting anyways for a table. Not the best start however our server was very nice. We came here last year and the food was forgettable. This year it was worse but thankfully there are many other places you can spend your hard earned dollar without the unprofessionalism of their manager. After bringing our experience to his attention he uncomfortably attempted an apology upon leaving our table he pulled a look of disdain. As I was with family didnt want to make a scene and pull him aside but if thats how you want to run the place go for it our family will never be back. An as we own property here we will be very vocal about the manager and cold bland food.

The wall of windows gives every table a great view and you can even eat and walk around on the rooftop deck. I was waiting with camera in hand for a great sunset but the sky was too cloudy :( Went for dinner (4 adults, 4 yr old and 1 1/2 yr old). Not an ideal restaurant for kids but would be great for a date night. Food was pricey but good (I had broiled mahi mahi). Lighting after sunset is very dim. They only had a candle on each table and a couple of dimmed wall sconces. As we were leaving we saw a couple at the table next to us using a small flashlight to read the menu. It really was that dark. It was good food but doubt I would go again.

This was the worst meal and very poor service that we experienced here in the Garden City / Surfside area. Three out of ten food orders were not not prepared as ordered, and when brought to the server attention we were treated as it was our fault and even when food was returned two out of the three meals were still incorrect. We experienced palmetto bugs at our table and we had to exterminate the insect with no regard by the restaurant staff. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and the cost for what you get in regards to a meal and service is not worth the cost even if you dont have to wait to be seated.

Terrible Service. Went for Brunch and seems like they were more interested in getting table clothes put on tables than servicing the customer. I had to ask 3 times for a refill on my tea!!! It seems as tho the manager and staff waiters were not happy with one another at the moment. Food was ok but seemed like it had been sitting for a while on the bar. The only good thing is that it was convenient to where I was staying. Then to top that off I had to look for my Male waiter and ask to get my bill which I had been waiting on for over 20 minutes!
