Although there are many 5-star reviews for A&R, my overall experience with them didnt meet my expectations. Its hard to find a great mechanic out here and A&R proved exactly why. About a month ago, Tuesday, April 25, I spoke with Andrew over the phone and explained to him what was going on with my truck. The air conditioner went out in my 2011 Armada. I wanted to establish an initial connection because thats important when it comes to major repairs such as home, auto, etc. He agreed to look at it and my wife dropped it off the very next day, Wednesday, April 26. After the diagnostic, they called and gave me the quote. I agreed and didnt budge a bit. I didnt try to "lowball" them or take the cheap way out. The repair time was estimated at about 6 hours, but it ended up taking a few days. Fine. No problem. I stayed in contact with the receptionist, Julie, throughout the repair. Not once did I give anyone a hard time. Honestly, I was more concerned that more problems would be created. The longer it was there, the higher chance I had of that happening. I spoke with Julie the morning of Friday, April 28 and she told me that they couldnt get my airbag light to stop blinking. They didnt know exactly why and maybe they needed to order a new connector. Fine. No problem. I needed my truck, so agreed to pick it up and bring it back to fix the light. Fine. No problem. My wife paid them cash and we picked it up later that evening. The problem arose AFTER I picked up my truck. As I looked around the inside of my truck, I noticed the cover for my gear stick was chipped and the hole wasnt closed (see pic below). I also noticed oil fingerprints above my window (see pic below). There was even shop rags left on the floor! Before I go any further, I must admit that my truck wasnt the cleanest at the time. But I know my "mess" from someone elses. I knew there was a problem with whoever worked on it, so I decided to go through the shop owner, Andrew, from that point forward. The following week I called to speak with Andrew, but he wasnt there. I was referred to the manager, Shannon. I spoke with him and emailed the pic of the gear cover. I didnt mention the oil spots or shop rags. I just wanted my truck fixed. The following week I spoke with Andrew about the situation and agreed to bring my truck in for the corrections. As a matter of fact, we spoke twice. I didnt mention the oil spots or shop rags. I just wanted my truck fixed. The receptionist called me when the part arrived and I dropped my truck off overnight. I wrote on the note not to worry about the light because Id taken care of it. I just wanted the cover replaced. When I picked my truck up, the piece was put on correctly. But the gear handle was put on backwards! Cmon guys! Whats up with the pettiness? (see pic below) Its very hard to believe this wasnt done on purpose by one of Andrews techs. I just dont understand because I havent disrespected anyone on his staff. I work outside Clarksville and dont have time to go back and forth behind petty stuff. After this, I decided to leave an honest review and find another mechanic. Andrew and I spoke about giving them credit for the repair. Fine. No problem. Great job and you get all the credit. But whos going to take credit for everything else?

I Brought my 2014 Wrangler here because my breaks were locking up on my vehicle. I spent over $600.00 to replace the caliper, rotor, and a new set of brake pads. When I picked up my vehicle, the first question I asked was, “What caused this to happen.” I was asking so that I could do my research and see if there was any way that this could be covered under my factory warranty. Andrew, whom, I guess is the owner, told me, “The caliper malfunctioned causing the breaks to lock up damaging the rotor and ruining the brakes. When I drove off, I immediately knew that the problem hadn’t been corrected. I brought my Jeep back the next day and told them the breaks were still locking up. I was told by Andrew and another mechanic that there was no issue with my vehicle and that I was simply adjusting to driving with the new rotor, brakes, ect. They didn’t remove my wheel or do anything to imply an honest attempt at checking for issues. So I left. The next day, the Jeeps brakes were locking up so bad that I couldn’t drive it faster than 30 MPH. I brought it back to A&R and was again told there wasn’t an issue, but they would keep it longer (overnight) to have more time with it. The next day I recieved a call from A&R saying the wheel speed sensor was bad (on the opposite wheel where I had the caliper issues) and that it needed to be replaced. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I noticed I was charged a $50.00 ($275.00 total) diagnostic fee and that my emergency break was very very loose and would only work if it was pulled as high as possible, and even then didn’t feel very tight and had to be in gear. Of course they couldn’t do anything about the e-brake because, “there is nothing wrong with it”, just like for 3 days there was “nothing wrong with my Jeeps breaks locking up. I didn’t go quietly, and will admit that a heated conversation ensued over the $50 diagnostic charge to a problem that was supposed to be fixed with the over $600.00 “work” that was previously paid for. During my complaint over the $50.00 charge, I was cursed at, degraded (Shanon -big talker who works up front- kept asking if I was gay), and told “Get the hell out of here.” After I told him I was going to leave a lengthy review he called me a b**ch and told me writing a negative review was a “b**ch move”. So, I am out almost $1,000.00, I had to miss 1 ½ days of work because I had to bring my vehicle to them a total of 4 times, Paid $50.00 (that I was never told I would be charged before being charged) to diagnose a problem that should have been taken care of the 1st time they had my vehicle, was cursed at and repeatedly was asked, “What, are you gay or something?”, and my e-brake WILL NOT hold my vehicle on a slight slop without having it in gear. Read the review and take your car wherever you want. Just when you take it to A&R, you can’t say you weren’t warned. These guys are crappy at what they do. If you noticed, the only positives reviews they get are from oil changes. Well let me tell you, I am not a mechanic, but I bet if I changed your oil you would give me a positive review. It’s too easy to screw up.

A&R Auto is a great shop, from my experience. I was a regular customer here for about a year when I lived in Clarksville (2013-2014) and they did a lot of work for me, some regular maintenance, some unplanned stuff like replacing my transmission. Price-wise, all I can say is they saved me a few hundred bucks on the transmission compared to the dealership, which I was happy about. For the rest of the work, I didnt really bother to compare prices. As for quality of service, Im happy with everything they did for me, the big thing being the transmission which hasnt give me any problems since (have about 12,000 miles on it now). Last but definitely not least, their customer service is one of the best Ive experienced. The guys were always friendly and courteous and more than willing to help explain things to me. Also, while I now live in GA more than 450 miles away, they still STAND BY THEIR WORK. Im currently hearing some excessive noise coming from the rear differential they rebuilt about a year ago, and it was recommended by a local shop that I replace it. When the warranter (Certified Auto Repair) told me the part wasnt covered by their 12 mo./12,000 mi warranty, I called Andrew at A&R to see if anything could be done. He immediately (same afternoon) went out of his way to make some calls and arranged with a local shop here in GA to replace the differential, with ZERO COST TO ME. I think its extremely rare to find a shop willing to help out like that, especially when I live 450 miles away. Bottom line: Great overall experience. Thank you A&R!
