We purchased a presold Crabbe Construction home two years ago. We were told by neighbors that the previous buyers walked away after struggling with the builder on numerous issues with the house. We didnt hear this story until we had already purchased the home, of course. I wish I had some sort of review or previous advice before purchasing a Crabbe built home. Prior to closing on the home we had to push Crabbe to complete numerous items on the punch list to close on time. We met with John Crabbe six weeks prior to closing, so there was plenty of time to get these things complete. It was a stressful relationship from the beginning. After moving in our A/C went out and it has gone out several more times in the past two years. We have a leaking bathroom window and a leaking shower, even after bringing this to John Crabbes attention and numerous attempts to correct it, they still leak. We have horrible tile work throughout the house, kitchen, bathrooms, if youre not careful you will scrape your feet on protruding tiles on the floor. Our garage door has been repaired twice because it was not secured to a stud. The drywall throughout the house is horrendous to include nail pops that we were told by John Crabbe could were not covered for repair unless they broke through the wall completely. Our driveway and garage have cracks spider webbing everywhere. Weve had repairs by them on things and they would come out worse than they started. The funniest thing recently was when I went to change the battery in our smoke detector and it fell out of the ceiling, it wasnt secured to anything, just stuck up in the drywall. We have cupping/popping wood floors and carpet seams that are extremely visible. Our brick and mortar chip and crack very easily. There have been whole corners of brick just fall off. They sealed our attic access doors. Our countertops on either side of the stove were not the same height. We found this out after installing a backsplash and finding out it was going downhill. We then had to demolish the backsplash get the counters shimmed and re install the tile backsplash. Apparently, they had adjusted the stove to make it appear as though the counter tops were even. How clever! We had our property resurveyed because something about the drainage easement and the plat diagram did not seem right. We found out that close to half of our back lot was not landscaped. We had no idea it was our property. Crabbe Construction did come out and landscape after the discovery but they did not grade it properly and now we get flooding and standing water from the drainage easement every time it rains. There are so much more I could list but it would go on and on. I just hope this review helps the next home buyer make an informed decision. I wrote a previous review on Yahoo but it was somehow removed by Crabbe Construction. I know not everyones experiences are the same but I have talked with numerous people who went with Crabbe Construction who have similar stories. People have the right to know if a company is not five-star, thats what reviews are for.

Having been in our home for several months now we decided it was time give our review of the builder of our house- Crabbe Construction. In truth, the reason it has taken almost seven months for us to compose this review was out of the need for time: time to recover from our “wounds”, time to remove ourselves from the drama and time to make this house our home. We would be negligent as consumers if we did not bring this experience to other potential families that are looking to this company to build their home. That being said, our experience was pretty miserable from beginning to end with Crabbe Construction. Our issues started in the very beginning. This is merely a single example of what we experienced - on more than one occasion, Crabbe Construction called us to schedule appointment times to meet at the construction site in order to cover specific items with the build. We would show up on time--- only to find the job we were there to discuss would already be completed – whether we liked the end result or not. The attitude of this construction company was one of “Oh well and let’s move on”. This was the norm that Crabbe Construction set form the entire project. After that issues multiplied… the quality of work being performed by the contractors, followed by the management of the contractors – “project manager”, and finally, the big guy himself, John Crabbe. When considering Crabbe’s perspective, I imagine we were considered to be a nuisance, unappeasable and unreasonable. From our view we were: lied to (repeatedly), duped (repeatedly), bullied and insulted, and we accepted a house we no longer had a heart for. As we drew nearer to closing day relations were most unfavorable and uncomfortable. We were frustrated, disappointed, sad and utterly pissed – and there was not a thing we could do. All of our legitimate concerns fell on deaf ears and our meetings to resolve the issues ended with no real progress. Bottom line is… Other than us -not ONE person at Crabbe Construction actually cared about the quality of work that went into this house. Poor quality that I’m certain that neither Mr. Crabbe nor the employees we worked with would allow or want in their homes. Ultimately, we feel we were forced into accepting this house. We leased temporary housing from the same company that we contracted with for the house. The house was “ready” for occupancy and the lease was up at practically the same time and we were informed that we would not be able to renew our lease and stay where we were if we walked away from this house. So, with tremendous heaviness we accepted this house and in time we have made it our home. We’d like to note that we are not new to the process of home building. Twice previously we had exceptionally good and rewarding experiences. However, that was not to be with Crabbe Construction. Incidentally, while meeting neighbors throughout these past months of living in the community I have heard hauntingly similar tales of woe that were experienced firsthand with Crabbe Construction as the builder of their homes.

When we walked into our home we automatically knew that this was the one. We made our offer and a few demands. Of course they counter offered but the demand were accepted. During our final walkthrough there were a few minor things that needed to be done, but they were able to fix those issues right then and there. They were very quick with their responses for service request. Our AC stopped working, but was fixed the very next day. Our sink had a little bit of a leakage, that was fixed the next day as well. We didnt notice this either until our dryer finally came, but the dryer vent in our laundry room didnt fit our dryer because it was an oval shape and not round like most dryer vents. It looked like the vent was forced into the hole which made it oval. They had someone come out to fix this issue as well. The only negative comment that I have for this company is that when we first started the process to purchase the house, not once did we speak to the listing agent. She wasnt even at the walk through. We spoke to the builder Adam the whole time. It wasnt until we called the office one day to submit a service request to Adam that they told us the proper steps to submitting the request and also told us that Adam was actually not the person that were suppose to be dealing with. We didnt actually meet the listing agent until the day of the closing and she just basically came to pick up the check. Yes we had our own realtor but I just thought it was a little weird. As far as the construction of the house, it seems like the walls are really thin because you can hear the water running through the walls whenever someone flushes the master bath toilet or uses the master bath shower when sitting in the living room as it is located directly above it. Theres also a clicking sound that can be heard whenever the shower of the master bath is in use. We hope to get that issue resolved whatever it may be. Overall I would recoomend Crabbe Construction to my friends or family because we really do a appreciate their prompt responses to our issues.
