The Welcome Center is reached by taking the first off-ramp traveling from Arkansas on I-55 (using the "New Bridge" as the locals call it ) into the city of Memphis. It provides excellent tourist information about the city and nearby attractions, e.g. the Riverside Park, the Blues Trail, and information on Tennesses Civil War Trail. Staff are very helpful, the facilities very clean, and the centers hours are longer than usual. There are also some excellent photos of local celebrities as well as statues of Elvis Presley and B. B. King which are worth seeing-- all accompanied with the sounds of blues music in the background. Highly recommend for travelers unfamiliar with the city/region.

Excellent place to take a break from interstate driving. Plenty of parking, clean restroom facilities, friendly staff. Located right on the banks of the Mississippi River, this is one of the most picturesque spots for a welcome center you will ever find.

This is a beautifully designed building with a lot of helpful information about the city and its Rich history. People coming into Memphis can stop at this facility to get snacks, use the, pick up maps and tourist information until 10 p.m. at night.

The docents were very helpful in pointing out what might interest our young family. The location is great, right as you enter Memphis from the west. The area next to the parking lot was a hangout for some of the citys homeless.

Scenic view of bridge. Plenty of seating to relax & enjoy some blues music in background. Leaflets available in side, along with a statue of B.B. King & Elvis A. Presley. Lets not forget bathrooms & security to make you safe!

A pleasant space with useful, well-organized information, not only for Memphis but for western Tennessee (possibly east as well). A staff member provided helpful suggestions, including an alternate route to the interstate.

Great first stop when you get to Memphis. Snag brochures to plan your trip and get a quick overview of the rich music history of the city. You MUST go see the motorcycles at Bumpus Harley-Davidson Memphis on Whitten RD!
