A triathletes dream come true! Thats what this place is. I was visiting Austin for a few days, practicing the Ironman course for the upcoming race. A few friends of mine had heard of this gym having an actual open water training area, so were immediately interested and sought this place out. When you first arrive at the gym you can already tell this is one of those upscale-luxury type of gyms. We were immediately greeted by the front-desk associate. He was a pretty cool dude, let him know we were outsiders just visiting for the week. They offer one-day passes to the gym for about $22. Youre handed a wristband that allows you in and out access to the gym until the end of day. I did inquire about their monthly memberships just for kicks and I believe he said it was $80. Not bad at all for all the amenities you get. The inside is very well kept, super clean. Its not a very big weight training facility but they have all around great equipment to choose from. They even have a rock climbing wall! Theres a juice bar right behind the front reception desk. They have pretty awesome drinks. I had the Carrot Cake smoothie and what do you know.. Tastes just like freakin carrot cake. Yum!! My only issue that I ran into with the juice bar is that they dont update their menu very often. My first choice of drink was their Chai Tea Latte Smoothie and they said it was discontinued, it was advertised in their book menu AND it was also on the big board on the wall. What gives? Anyway. My friends and I came here to train in open water. We walk outside to the back and you walk through an outdoor pool. You exit the the gym, walk through the parking lot and go through another gate that requires a pin code to enter. The front desk associate gives you the pin code once you paid the entry fee. Were in and theres a good long running trail all around the lake, perfect for brick workout! The water of their lake is sooooo clean!! Seriously. I am so jealous we dont have something like this in Houston. You can see turtles swimming from far away. The perimeter of the lake seemed to be a good 700-800 meters, which was kinda short compared to what Im used to at Lake 288 in Houston but thats okay! Because this water is beautiful! My experience here was incredible. If there were such thing as a Pure Houston, I would sign up in a heartbeat. I will definitely be back here the next time I am in town.

Nothing else like this. Quarry lake cant be beat and its conveniently located if you work/live up North. Downtown is nice too. I like that they have a rope. Its nice that they provide towels for showering and their small lockers have codes so you dont have to remember a towel or your own lock. After my workout, I love to go to their smoothie bar. They have the best vegan protein options. They also have flexible payment options. If youre not ready to fork up $90/month for a membership fee, you can try the gym out once and then decide to sign up. Still not ready? You can go with a friend for $10 a visit. They have several other lower commitment options. Im a huge fan of their option to purchase passes. I prefer to buy passes at Pure than hold a $75 membership at the YMCA across the street. That YMCA is as good as a normal gym can get, with pools, sauna, steam room, weighted rope. But its loud, and dungeon-esque downstairs, where all the equipment I use lives. I like going to Pure. They play good music - local artists and the latest house music. Theres tons of natural light in every room at Pure so it never feels like a dungeon. Solely based on appearance. I think Pure has leaned off of this practice at the Downtown location in the last few years, and I appreciate the improved customer service experience. I quit Pure three years ago after being a member for seven years. I went to the Y for a while, but Pure has won back my heart by providing good options for me to slowly reacquaint myself and being their awesome selves.

This is a great gym. Some of the current reviews are amusing. This is a clean, modern facility with great light and great classes. The instructors are highly qualified and very helpful to new members. The gym is more expensive than some in the area, but no more than what Ive paid at other gyms across the country and the quality of instructors and their facilities warrant the price. Who else has a private lake for open water swimming with free paddle boards and kayaks?? The pool is a little small, but its rarely crowded - Ive never had a hard time with getting pool time. The spin instructors are really great and they will move spin class outside on the deck when the weather is nice, which is awesome. I love the "meathead" comment from another reviewer. Im a woman and one of the things I love about this gym is that everyone does their own thing and seems to respect the other members. No huge guys spending hours on the floor and just staring at women or themselves in the mirror. There are some seriously fit people there, which may intimidate some, but Ive never been snickered or stared at. Its a motivating atmosphere that I really enjoy. And the staff has been nothing but nice and helpful to me. Its another reason Im willing to pay a little more. They actually acknowledge you when you come in, ask if you need anything, and are sincerely nice. I guess some people might see this as "snoody" or pretentious, I just think its good manners. I highly recommend Pure Austin.

First, I think this gym is overpriced. $1,000 / year or $20 / day. Contrast that with 24 Hour Fitness which costs around $250 / year and has a *free* seven day trial. They have a very good selection of free weight stuff, from kettlebells to dumbbells going up to 140lbs. Golds Gym has dumbbells that go even higher but 24 Hour Fitness does not. Actually, from what Ive seen of them, most Golds Gyms and 24 Hour Fitness do not carry kettlebells. Or if they do theyre locked away, only for use for people training with personal trainers. They also have rings hanging from a pullup bar thats 7-8 feet off the ground. The fact that its not higher limits some of what you can do on them but its still cool that they have them. They have a torso rotation machine, too, which is kinda a rare bread of machine here in Austin. The rock climbing wall does not self-belay like the one at Main Event, which limits the usefulness of that pretty significantly imho. The real highlight of the gym, I think, is what they have outside. They have an outdoor pull-up bar rig thing, tires, a vollyball court and... a nice lake, where you can do stand-up paddleboarding and swimming and what not. The bathroom is a bit disappointing. Looked like the males one only had one sink. Overall, I think its a good gym. Theyre also pretty active in local Austin fitness events like the AFM Fit Test and what not. I just think theyre over-priced.

Great facility/classes. Terrible Ethics I loved this gym and the classes in it but unfortunately was told by a chiropractor that I was straining my back and neck more as I continued to workout without letting it heal completely. When I went to cancel my membership, the contract stated that I needed a letter describing medical need or that I need proof of having moved far enough away from the facility. My chiropractor wrote a letter for me to send to ABC Financial (the company that handles all the money and memberships for Pure) and I gave my 30 days notice. I never heard anything back until a few days ago I realized that they had still been charging me 6 months past my cancellation. Whats more, they increased the price by $20 a month. When I called to straighten it all out, I was met abruptly by an unfriendly voice saying theyd have to get back to me in a week. As of now, they are still refusing to cancel my membership on the grounds that a chiropractor is not a medical doctor. Again, great facility, classes, trainers, and prices (other than the $20 increase for no reason). But terrible ethics. Definitely looking out for how to make a buck and keep them flowing rather than the members. Theres good business that keeps customers and shady businesss that traps customers. Pure is the latter. Watch out and be careful!
