Having recently moved from the east coast to Austin, have had several good experiences with U-Haul in general, but my experiences at this location make me question the companys control of its franchise and I will reconsider using them again. I have used this storage facility for approximately 3 months. Two incidents in the past month show their lack of customer service. First, I was late one day (ONE DAY) in paying this months storage. Paid in the am and went to take something there and found the door padlocked. They said that it was policy to padlock on the first late day. Personally, I find that pretty severe. That was the minor incident though. Last night, I went just before 9 pm (didnt realize I would have had to pay extra for 24 access.) I was there for fifteen minutes and when tried to exit, the gate code key said that I was past my time and would not open. I was locked into the grounds with my wife and 2.5 year old. Luckily, I had my site info sheet in the car and called the number on it. I got some distant customer service who transferred me twice before they disconnected with me. This happened one more time and it took a third call to finally get through. After two transfers, I finally got the local general manager. I realize I was a bit terse and angry, but this was after being passed around for 30 minutes, virtually imprisoned. He totally copped an attitude back and would not just give me an emergency code to write down (I was on blue tooth with car speakers and couldnt walk to the keypad and still hear him and was afraid would be disconnected again.) At that point, he said well there is someone on site who could let me out. This after one hour after being let in the facility and 45 minutes of calls with at least 9 transfers and two disconnects and a baby in the car. Oh, I almost forgot, he was kind enough to tell me that if I got trapped (my words) again, he would make sure to charge me the extra 24 hour access charge but would forgive it this time. I had been on a waiting list for another company and they called twice and I said no but now will move out of this prison as soon as I can find another place.

On the last day of August, one of the busiest moving days of the year, I arranged for a van to help my son move. The time of day when it would be available was later than I would have liked. I had driven down from Tyler and a later time meant getting back to Tyler later. Gary bent over backwards to help me out. He did not succeed but he tried very hard to accommodate me. When I returned to pick up the van I was tired and full of anxiety because of the situation my son was in. Gary was gone but Jennifer was able to help me out. She could not have done more to relieve my stress and anxiety. She joked with me gently and it helped a great deal to know that there was someone who was in sympathy with my situation. I returned to U-Haul on Burnet Road to unload the van into a free storage unit that Orlando arranged for me. Orlando was very helpful and kind in getting me into a unit. Ernest was understanding and helpful as I parked the van in the wrong spot and finally got it were it belonged. These people work as a team and their goal was to do as much as possible to relieve as much of my stress as possible. They made a very difficult day much easier to handle. There are a lot of U-Haul dealerships in Austin. However, I will go out of my way to deal with these people should I ever need a U-Haul again. Which I will in a couple of days!

I reserved a truck days before needed providing my CC # & DL. Just to make it to the location and get told minutes away from my move that they could not rent me the truck. They also would not rent my friend a truck merely because he was with me. When inquired as to what the issue was, Uhaul corporate brought up previous charges dated back to 2001. They provided no real explanation of the charges what so ever. In 14 years Ive rented fom Uhaul on sereral times and had no issue.I never received any communication about these charges. I was thankfully able to get a nice truck from BUDGET. No hassel no issues. I personally will be filing a detailed report with the BBB. Uhaul customer service and business practices are VERYY OUTDATED and caused a huge inconvenience. I had military individuals travling from out of town to assist with the move. Being a single mother and working with time constraints made what should have been a simple move, a nightmare. I will never rent from another Uhaul facility again. Ill be sure that my friends and family know about this in hopes that they will avoid a similar experience.

This place is by far the worst storage u can rent its so hot in there u can get a heat stroke (climate control bs) . Uhaul customer service is a joke they said they will open a investigation and give me a call within 48 hours its been 2 months and still havent got a call besides that I had two reps hung up on me and had been transfer to all this different departments that could not answer my question if u want to get a heat stroke this is your united and if u want to be hung up and lied to call uhaul !!!!! If I could I would give it no starts !!

A lot of the complaints on here are for customer service. But all I care about is the product Im renting. I made a reservation online in under 5 minutes. I picked up the moving truck on time and received a quote for the likely amount. They gave me the option to return it early for a lower cost which was even better. I was out in under 5 minutes. The truck was clean with no issues. I returned it early and was given a final price which was lower than originally quoted. I was out the door. This place runs smoothly. Rent your truck here.

I knew that the trailer power connector on my friends car was not providing tail light voltage, assumed it was a blown fuse, but had no idea where the fuse was. I brought it into this U-Haul location, and the employee there spent some time locating the fuse, which was in a box under the hood, and the fuse itself was kinda tricky to get to. He spent probably 10 minutes on this task and did not charge me, which was very kind of him. If I need any more involved trailer work done in the future, I will definitely have the work done here.

rc truck fails
Great peopel all around clean place,every time u get in a truck. it has the engine running and the A/C on for u when u open the door. Their inventory is always stocked. All the employes have smiles and theyre always ready to help manager is a great guy he will do whatever it takes to help you out. they all have new cargo vans and pickup trucks that are always clean on the outside and inside
