I dont understand any of the complaints. The reviews online made me very nervous to walk in this morning, but I came in with a picture of what I wanted and thought they should do alright with that. Exceeded all expectations. Don took one glance at the picture and set to work, never referring back. He took a great deal of time and effort to recreate exactly what was pictured, and did so immaculately. That, and the lather and straight edge shave (never had that before!), and the free massage, are a *bit* gimmicky but highly appreciated. Ive never been so happy with the way my hair looks either, and Ive always been very particular about my hair and slow to trust a new barber. It is a 50s kind of place, with a 50s mentality. Expect plenty of comments about the riffraff of society, but I dont think they mean any harm by it. If you walk in with an open mind, its really very amusing. That being said, they have a strong quality standard to go with their mentality, and they leave no job unfinished or poorly done. These guys have clearly been doing this a long time. I just want to get the word out to anyone with hair that isnt your "traditional manly" style: I highly encourage you to try the place out. If you come in with a specific request, they will give you exactly what youre asking for and a good experience along with it. Just remember that the place is a gathering place and a kind of home for these gentlemen. Treat them with respect, and theyll welcome you in it.

First off, Im a woman. Secondly, I enjoy the benefits of a great haircut. Needless to day, the folks at The Woo are top notch. As a lady "infiltrating" this establishment, Ive not encountered any negative remarks or awkwardness that can come when women visit barbershops. I didnt get the "girlfriend" treatment and it was nice to be able to not be excluded from the extra goodies that this Boys Club provides. Dons the best, hands down. Ive been going to him since 2012. Hes great at cutting ethnic hair, too, so dont hesitate to hop in his chair instead of waiting on the black barbers. Truly, this is a place to go when you have a spare couple hours on your hands, otherwise show up hella early. Chill out, have a beer, and watch bootlegged movies on their big screen. Enjoy your hot shave and tight cut. The price cant be beat, especially for the service you get.

This is the first place Ive tried in Austin and it was a good first choice. There was a bit of a wait because I went at their busiest time but they have pirated movies that are still in theaters playing on a giant plasma screen so that will keep you entertained while you wait. The whole experience will be different than most anything youve probably ever tried. They take their time and will do whatever you ask. Theres nice touches like the cheap massage and the straight razor shaving. When I was there, the mailman came in for like an hour and talked to the barbers. I felt like I was in a 50s movie. If youre looking to get a haircut in 5 minutes then go to Great Clips but if you want to explore the city of Austin and make some memories, or youre wondering why your mail hasnt come today, stop by Wooten.

This place is a pleasant enough haircut joint. They do a fine job I reckon. Ive been there a few times now and never had an unpleasant experience. The first time that I walked in there were a bunch of dudes sitting in the waiting chairs staring at the TV along with the pleasantly gruff, exclusively male barbers. The TV was playing something that is roughly equivalent to the 1980s version of Conan the Barbarian. The environment felt hilariously masculine. Im surprised there wasnt an impromptu wrestling match. Though Im sure a girl would feel fine here unless shes particularly hoighty-toighty.

I have never been more passionate about a haircut than I have since Ive been coming here. This place takes care of you. All of the barbers are seasoned veterans in the art of haircuts. They take care of you. They individually shave parts of your head with a tiny razor. They use a back massage device on you. They have HUNDREDS of DVDs you can watch on a huge TV. Theyre kind and social gentleman. They take care of you. Note to women: Its pretty manly in there. Theyre all male stylists. Be warned.

Wooten has been around a while. Prices are great and so are the cuts. I drive 40 miles since I moved and dont do that for nothing. Would not judge em by the negative comment below. Hard to find a real barber shop but this is sure one. If your looking for someone to style and blow dry your hair - go to your wifes salon. You go to wooten for a mans cut and shave. Not to mention the good humor, cheap massage and occasional movie.

My husband loves this place. Hes been getting his haircut at the Wooten ever since he started going to school at UT over ten years ago. Its definitely a guys barber shop that does guy hair cuts, and do them well. They also do razor blade shaves. The barbers are friendly and the prices are reasonable. If you like this place, you might never go anywhere else again.

Its a nice atmosphere, a decent price, and a bad haircut. The barber was personable, but seemed to be rushing through things and gave the most inconsistent, uneven haircut of all time. The massage was nice, and it seemed to be emphasized along with the friendly atmosphere... but the reason I went there is a haircut, and that was done very poorly.

Can tell this barber shop and the guys working it has been around for a long time. Its what you expect from a barber...a no frills haircut at a decent price. If youre not a UT football fan, you might want to avoid going there on a Saturday during football season as the TV is always tuned to a game and tends to distract some of the barbers.

it was embarassing when I went their first time. I did nt know the terms of haircut. but the guy was kinda satiristic and talking/laughing/making too many jokes than giving me a nice haircut. it was shameful. rather than helping me out understand haircut terms, he made fun of me and was takin them lightly. I would never go their again.

Walk in and no one greets you or tells you how long the wait is. They dont sweep so the floor is covered in hair. Their razors are dull, and their "back massages" are violent and uncomfortable. Ive been here multiple times and had the same experience each time. Their haircuts are decent but Im fed up with this place. Will not be back.

I always get great cuts here. They keep me feeling good and productive. I used to go to great clips kind of places, but since coming here, I have never gone back. Its about the whole experience at Wooten and you get the real barber shop feel. Good cuts and good service, dont hesitate to try them out.

What a pleasant experience. Sometimes I forget what its like to be around and among other men (forgive me). Something about barbering makes conversation easy and honest -- a new friend becomes an old friend before they shake the hair out of the bib for the next customer. Thanks Don. Ill be back.
