My problems with Davis Funeral Chapel (DFC) did not begin until they had received their money and the funeral was done. My father passed away unexpectedly and my brother and I chose DFC to handle everything. This was the first time for either of us to have to handle any kind of funeral arrangements. A week after my father passed I called Bob and asked him how long it takes for the death certificates to come in and his response was "I told your brother it takes 3-4 weeks." and he said it in a tone as if he was annoyed that I was bothering him. I waited another couple of weeks and called back. This time I talked to Mary and was told they were never ordered because they didnt have my fathers SS#. I told her not only was that info given to Bob but it was also listed on the DD214 we had given to them. She said its not on the DD214 but it was. I asked her when were yall gonna call us and ask for the info but of course she didnt answer that question. She told me once I get her his SS# it would only take 2-3 days (remember Bob says it takes 3-4 weeks). She couldnt get the system to take my dads info so she said she would have to call the state and then she would get back to me (this is around noon time on a Wed). The next day when I hadnt heard back I sent her an email. Didnt hear back. This now is July 4th weekend so I waited til Monday to follow up. I called and left her a VM. After waiting a while I decided to call Bob. I explained the situation and he said he would get with Mary. About ten minutes later I get a call from Mary stating I told Bob she hadnt responded back to me (she was rude of course). At this time she informs me that the death certificates had come in on Thursday....the day after I talked to her and she hadnt even ordered them yet. How is it they came so quickly?? Better yet, why had NO ONE CALLED US TO LET US KNOW??? Does it end here?? No!! I had provided a copy of my fathers DD214 because Bob said it had to be faxed to the VA so they could do flag honors at his funeral. After I mis-filed the copy I had I asked Bob for a copy of theirs when I went to pick up the death certificates. He said he coudlnt find the file but when Mary got back to work the next day I could ask her to fax it to me so thats what I did. After waiting two days and receiving no response from her I emailed her a second time. This time Bob responded back and said they dont keep them because they had to be mailed to the VA (mmhhmm). Nine days later Mary responds and says "I dont have a copy to fax you Bob said he told you that." I of course write her back and let her know that email was from 9 days ago and had already been responded to by Bob. I also included my feelings on how we had been treated and handled over the last month. Her response to my email "Im sorry it came across as new." Thats it. Thats all she had to say. Not ONCE through this whole process did anyone from DFC apologize for mis-handling this. The least someone could do is say "I apologize I dont know how it happened but we dropped the ball." DFC is very unprofessional, unresponsive and unapologetic for not doing their job. During a time of grief the last thing you should have to deal with is uncompetent people who are supposed to be "working for you" as Bob put it.

Ive used this funeral home 2 other times in the past 10 years when my parents died and I was happy with the service until a close relative past away in December and I used Davis Funeral Home except this time it was different. I paid for the funeral upfront because I was unaware that my relative that I was having the funeral for had any insurance. When I found out that there was a small amount that could go towards the funeral that I had already paid for I call Bob Davis and explained that he would be receiving a check from Allstate and since I had already paid he could issue me a credit back to my credit card. He first told me that any money that goes into his account is taxed and he would have to charge me a 18% percent fee. I told him thats not correct and that he would need to talk to his accountant. After a few minutes he told to not worry about it and we would work it out. A week later when he received the check his office called to say that I could pickup the check, but I had found out a few days before hand that the check was going to be for 5k instead of the $2500 that Allstate had told me, so asked his office how much was it for because it was supposed to be for 5k. They told me it was for $2800 and I asked "wheres the rest"? I was told to call Bob Davis which when I did he told me that he had received 2 checks and he was waiting for it to clear. The checks were received on the same day so why did he write a check for the first one so fast and now he wont write one for the second one. Another week later, on Monday, I called to see if it had cleared and said that since it was the weekend the bank wouldnt know if it had cleared. That doesnt make any sense so I said Ill call tomorrow thinking hes trying to keep the money. Long story short my wife goes to pickup the check on Wednesday and he gives her 2 checks less $150 saying that he has to charge a fee. He was telling my wife one thing and telling me another as if we dont speak to each other knowing full well that he was lying. He likes to say that hes the good guy in the funeral business, but this proves otherwise.

Worst experience of my life.. Bob Davis is a cold hearted snake.. My dad had a pre funeral arrangement through Mr. Davis for 5K. Out of state Family decided to make arrangements elsewhere due to my dad being in a car accident that left him paralyzed.. Mr. Davis refuses to refund the money and will not even answer my phone calls. GUESS WHAT MR. DAVIS THIS IS CALLED THEFT.. AND YOU HAVE A REPORT GOING AGAINST YOU WITH THE BANKING COMMISSION IN AUSTIN.

No high pressure and did what we wanted for the lowest prices we found. Never tried to up sell us with extras. Didnt take all of the insurance money. He even had a florist that helped a lot to keep the cost down on Flowers. That was a big help. The Casket that was included was a very nice one, not a cheap one like another Funeral home showed us for more money. We will be back, hope not too soon.

Did not do a good job on preparing my son for the viewing. The threading was visible on his mouth & skin glue on his eye lids. Horrible job. The clothes we gave for the viewing, only the pants were used. Someone elses shirt was used. Mr. Davis & his helper Mary have horrible attitudes & are in the wrong business. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!!!!
