I have gotten my hair cut & styled here about five different times, those first five experiences were great ! I thought I had finally found a reliable salon. However my most previous & must I add LAST visit was horrible. They must of hired a new employee, I did not even bother getting her name I was so upset... Shes an older women who seemed new to this salon. Well she messed my hair up ! The wash was very rough, she did not adjust my neck correctly, by how quickly she rushed the process Im not even sure if my hair was thoroughly cleaned (a service that I paid for.) I was still hoping for the best & very polite. When moved to the chair for the cut I specified & even gave a few examples of how I wanted my hair cut... It came out the complete opposite. I thought, well maybe if I get it styled it will look better so I paid for the additional service & it came out worse than I could of done it at home. I have never had a problem with any of the other ladies & do appreciate their performance. Please take appropriate action with this employee, sorry for being unable to provide her name.

Visitor from mainland. Used Andree absolutely loved my experience. Price was beyond reasonable and I was given exactly what I wanted. The stylist was very young but informed on the most recent hair trends. They are first come first serve walk in style but I felt like I was given more time than at a regular place. While I was there colorist did the biggest job I have ever seen and the womens hair looked amazing. I have never even seen that much color / hair on one head! This place really takes thier time on every customer. I will make the drive to Galveston from Houston to next time I need a cut! They got men in and out the door too. I will bring my boyfriend next time!

I took my wife here with the expectation of a quality style cut and was instead given the opposite of that. We waited 30 minutes because on a weekday they seemed to only staff 2 barbers oddly enough. We showed the barber the haircut we wanted and it didnt come out anything like it, in fact it looked almost the same when it was finished. This place blew money down the garbage and I wish I would have taken my business elsewhere instead of having to pay twice because this place couldnt get it right the first time. I suggest someplace that actually has a title rather than this one halfway salon.

Kate at The Island Hair Retreat has a true talent when it comes to taming my unruly locks. In fact, I joke with her that she should come over to my house every morning because the only time my hair looks good is when she does it. The Best In Galveston! I moved back to Galveston a little over two years ago and was lucky enough to find Katelyn pretty soon thereafter. Her infectious smile and quintessential hairdresser attitude along with her ability to cut GREAT hair make her by far the best choice on the island. Island Hair Retreat is quick, inexpensive, and very talented. I highly recommend Katelyn or any of the hairdressers there to everyone!

Went in to turn my super long locks into a lob (long bob). I didnt even have a picture and Samantha nailed it! I have never been so happy with a haircut. Also, I have never been inspired enough to write a google review but, I know it was the first thing I checked before heading to island hair retreat. So if your reading this and debating getting a change.....GO FOR IT!

I have been here once when it first opened, and just recently. My boyfriend has been here about 3 times. All of these experiences have been negative. The ladies make rude comments and are just caddy in general. Im surprised by the amount of positive reviews. Two stars for the reasonable prices and student discount.

Worst cut and service I have ever received. Didnt bother washing our hair, cut layers that look like blocks, completely ruined my childs hair. We are both going to have to find someone to fix the mess they created. And the woman Kibby or whomever she is, is downright RUDE and has no clue what she is doing.
