The Funeral Director was deceitful, uninformative, unavailable, and less than helpful. She deliberately with held information to make her job much easier. Throughout the appointment for making the funeral arrangements, I was made to feel rushed and not offered any quiet time to pray and collect my emotions. I was given a cheaply made binder and told to choose which items I wanted. Not to mention that she seemed awfully chatty with my ex-husband. She even sent me home with empty CD covers and I have never had them returned. The chapel was plain and the seating was more like something you might find in a high school lunch room cafeteria. There were two or three love seats in the main reception area but hardly enough to accommodate a crowd or several elderly and disabled individuals who might require more than those cheap chairs in the chapel. There was no private viewing in a state room, so the chapel seemed almost like a meet and greet with no privacy for any last goodbyes. The lawn was well managed and the building itself seemed in good repair. As a last testament to the Funeral Directors lack of professionalism and character, she intentionally changed every decision that I had made and allowed the ex-husband all of the decisions. Losing a child is unthinkable. There should have been someone with experience overseeing the staff but there was not. Dealing with this Funeral Director was a NIGHTMARE.

Ive buried both parents and am not a stranger, sadly, to making funeral arrangements. This past July I had the most unfortunate duty of burying my teenage son. The Lady Funeral Director was more concerned with who was going to pay. I offered to pay cash but my sons father wanted to use the life insurance from his job. FYI: The person who pays is treated with respect and the other party is blatantly referred to as, "The Other Parent". This monster of a Mortician worked with my sons father to ensure my requests were never met. Texas law requires that both parents of a minor must agree to cremation and sign documents to that effect. This woman told my sons father that by law he could keep all of the ashes since his insurance paid her bill. Had I known that, cremation would have never been an option. He and this Funeral Director woman changed the order for the two cremation urns we had chosen together and eliminated mine. Yes, he kept all of my precious sons ashes. True Story. I wouldnt recommend this place to bury a house cat.

Me and husband had recently had to arrange two funerals back to back. The lady that helped was wonderful in this life changing experience. She was very professional and had patience with us. She walked us through every single step and not once did she get upset when we had tons of questions and concerns. All our requests were met and I could have not asked for anything better. She made me feel comfortable and made this experience as smooth as it can get when arranging a funeral.

I highly recommend Mt. Carmel. Brenda is very professional and was always able to get a hold of her for questions. They honored everything my family and I asked for in a service. Thank you Mt. Carmel for making the experience a litttle easier.
