The dance anthropologist Joann Kealiinohomoku, having noted the marked differences in dictionary definitions of dance during the twentieth century, offered the following definition: Dance is a transient mode of expression, performed in a given form and style by the human body moving in space. Dance occurs through purposefully selected and controlled rhythmic movements; both the performer and the observing members of a given group recognize the resulting phenomenon as dance. To me dancing with Arthur Murray (AM) in Plano has become a centerpiece to balance in life. This feeling I deeply share with my lovely wife. We visited AM years ago seeking a change in our life style. We were pursuing a significant emotional event that would transform our outlook in the mundane, stressful and difficulties life we are living. You can certainly attend many studios; we did. The question I was seeking to answer was; what value added can we gain from the investment in this studio that cannot be obtained from other studios. In this case, I can easily use two words commitment and quality. The commitment from the studio (Management and Staff) from the beginning that I was to engage in a journey customized to fulfill some internal disquietude about dancing was amazing. To my surprise, it was not limited to dance but also to better me as a person in the form of etiquette and manners. To that extend it has been fulfilled. The other word I care about is quality not quantity. I have learned that in many instances the perception of a better investment is directly associated to cost. There are millions of opinions about that. I will not try to steer any one from the way they judge things. It is your knowledge of the subject what determines your ability to judge quality. When it comes to quality, I have traveled around the world and have had the opportunity to use some of the education I have received from the Studio. To my surprise not only the techniques checkout right but in some instances I got the privileged of been requested to provide feedback on some movements in the dance floor because my execution of a dance has risen to a level where it is noted that some serious training have been completed. To that, I am proud of my accomplishments. I am also very appreciative to my Instructors/ Couches and Mentors at the studio. Go Plano Bam Bam Knowledge is the treasure, but judgment the treasure of a wise man. He that has more knowledge than judgment is made for another man’s use more than his own. William Penn.

I did not intend to become addicted to ballroom dancing, but I am glad I did. Going to the studio (either Dallas or Plano) is now the highlight of my day. The instructors and my fellow students are glad to see me and the classes are energizing. What I thought would be a short foray has now passed two years (my instructor informed me on the day of my anniversary). Among the things I didnt expect: making friends (I thought I was too old to make new friends); enjoying going out dancing; mixing other hobbies with dance (electronics for example); expanding my musical tastes; learning to like rhinestones; enjoying performing for an audience... and more. You come to learn a little dancing and wind up discovering yourself. Learning to dance becomes a life transformation; and I love it. I hope all this talk of change doesnt scare anyone off. It isnt a change forced on you. It is a change that blossoms naturally in conjunction with the hard work you put into dance. Oh, sure... the instructors will challenge your comfort zone, but you will have a horde of supportive people around you. It is worth repeating: Arthur Murray Plano (and Dallas) isnt just about the fantastic instructors and fun events; it is also about the fun, warm and helpful fellow students.

Dancing is one of those things that you find that you wish youd started so much earlier. I work at a computer then come home and sit in front of one or in front of the TV and was looking for something to get me active. I came in looking to learn a couple dances and found so much more. There are so many benefits to dance that I wasnt initially going for that Ive benefited from. I have so much less stress now and Im in much better shape. Its one of those good addictions. Ive been there several years now and learning over 10 different dance styles. My social circle has grown and so has my confidence. Ive found I enjoy every aspect of dancing social, competitive and performance. But no matter your reason or your preferred dance style every one should have some dancing in their lives. Its a great life skill that will stay with you. And no matter what you think everyone can dance. The staff is always friendly and the students are supportive. Like I said earlier, I wish Id found this years ago.

I went to the Arthur Murray in Plano for around ~ 2 years, and I always l loved it. I had been to clubs and taken lessons from instrustors that really had no formal dance training. The professionals at Arthur Murray really take the time to teach you the fundamentals of posture, timing, and footwork, and always made it fun. Most importantly, the instructors were always there as freinds and mentors. I remember crying on my instructors shoulder after I went through a bad break-up!

I started my dancing adventure with Arthur Murray with the idea it would be difficult and unpleasant. I felt the advantages of learning to dance would make it worth the effort. As it turned out, the staff and students made it an extremely positive experience from the very start. I hadnt dreamed of taking lessons even a month before I walked into their studio. Now I consider that move the best decision Ive ever made. The experience has improved my life in countless ways.
