I went in for the first time yesterday, my student Kayci, listeed attentively while I went over all the little details about how my hair grows very slow, how it accepts color, and how I wished the outcome to be. She did exactly what I asked for, following my instructions to use more ash tones then she probably felt comfortable with but knowing my hair picks up tons of red, she trusted my directions to "ash it up." She was fun, vibrant, definitely excited about her work. She is a natural. WHile the foiling process always takes a long time, for a student she was very efficient and speedier than most students I have had at other schools. We added a "pop" of purple which, did not take as well as we would have liked, that was primarily my fault because I made her feel the need to hurry because I was getting anxious about getting home to my waiting puppies. If we had left the purple on longer, like she wanted to I would have had a more vibrant result. No worries, I am going back to get a partial foil of the purple because the few strands we did was enough to show me how much I loved it against the ash blonde. Kayci is a natural for this line of work. I would highly recommend you ask for her if you are looking for someone that listens and totally understands how color behaves. I have had people in the past not listen to me and I walk out of the salon unhappy with all the red undertones. She listened, and that is the most important part of the job because we the customers usually understand how are hair behaves. She gave me a excellent blow out; never have I left any salon happy with the blow out, usually they give you big poofy hair but she recalled how it looked when I came in and styled it the same way. She recommended products that would be good for me but was in no way pushy and overbearing about this part of the process. I cannot say enough about the service from the time I walked in until the time I left, I felt special. Thank you Kayci, I look forward to adding those purple highlights hopefully next weekend.

I called the number given for questions- school admissions that is listed in the Aveda Institute website. When I called the Institute to inquire about the cosmetology program I felt like I was about to be probed instead of me asking my questions. The call turned out to be an interrogation in which they had a profound insistence of knowing every single detail about my free time with no desire of answering any of my concerns. When I finally got tired of the gimmicks I was told they could not answer any of my questions unless I would personally visit the school and give them my personal details. I told her it was pointless to visit the school without at least knowing if they could accept the Montgomery GI Bill. ( I am prior active duty and the military would be paying for my education.) After being placed on hold just for that simple question, I was given the runaround one more time making it to where I was finally asking the same question very irritated and was told a reluctant yes. When I asked about how many weeks of training the program was ( again a tuition related question) I was told I would have to go in person for my answer. I just hanged up at this point. I do not know what the deal is with this institution but they cant answer transparently basic questions. I will not use my hard earned military Gi Bill to who knows for what agenda. Schools hours, the duration of training and the tuition acceptance should not be something that cant be disclosed sincerely and openly to any prospective students in an honest school. I will exercise my common sense, caution and look elsewhere.

The overall rating of this school is a 2.7?? That is a shame! What are you reviewers thinking? I have been to this school for SEVERAL services: Pedicure, manicures, haircut and color and facials. I have YET to have a bad experience here! Anyone who is looking for a good and inexpensive (not CHEAP!), beauty treatments should NOT take the bad reviews to heart. (Especially the ones that are 6 years old! REALLY???) As usual, the residents of this area are being presumptuous and dont understand what this institute is all about. First of all, its a SCHOOL. It is full of STUDENTS that are learning their craft. Clients should understand that and be a bit more forgiving to the students. Whenever I go to the Institute, I encounter nothing but cheerful, friendly people. From the person that books my appointment over the phone, to the students that perform my service. Even teachers and mentors welcome you as you walk through the school and are courteous and professional when checking in on you. The atmosphere is positive - you get a feeling that everyone there enjoys what they are doing and glad to be there. Sure, I could go some where else and spend $$$ for a haircut or a pedicure (and feel like Im just part of an assembly line). But I choose to go to Aveda for the people and the personalized service I always receive. The students are still learning and may not be perfect, but I leave there feeling good that Ive helped a future beautician better their skills. I mean, lets be honest, weve ALL had that bad haircut once in our lifetime - and it most likely wasnt by a student.

As a former student, I will be the first to warn potential students to PLEASE do their homework before deciding to attend this school for cosmetology or esthetics. The schools policies are VERY inconsistant and unrealistic. The attendance policy is by far the most ridiculous policy enforced, be it that you were in the hospital, were in a car accident, or had a death in the family, they provide absolutely no compassion; two days missed, you are strickly and humiliating enough, put on probation. Two months on probation, you are expelled from school. The cometology students are treated much differently than the esthetic students; dress code enforcement to provide one of many examples. Please keep in mind this review is coming from someone with excellent work and school ethics. The teachers are unethical, completely disorganized, and unprofessional. Almost all of my peers were just as miserable (now I understand the bad service reviews) and wished they had done their diligence in searching for a more ethical school. This school is not worth the outrageous tuition considering you do not get your moneys worth. I hope this review helps.

I arrived at Aveda on time, my stylist came and got me about 15 minutes after my appointment but the wait was fine I look at new products and got the run down on all services since I had never been there. LauraJo my stylist and I discussed my color and the kind of cut I wanted and a teacher came by and discussed with LauraJo the formula to obtain the color she needed! She began to color my hair! I was offered a drink which I accepted ! A teacher came around and discussed price which was way better then any saloon I got to and she also checked my color! I got a knock and head massage while waiting for my hair to process, then my stylist rinsed it out and dryer my hair and the teacher and LauraJo perfected my cut during the cut I also got a hand massage which was amazing with the best smelling lotions! Me and LauraJo hugged and I felt and awesome connection to this young stylist! I payed and left! It was an amazing fun experience and I will definitely be back!!!
