Terry- If you can give me a legitimate reason why you would immediately recommend replacing/repairing my catalytic converter when your monitors read "not ready" vs a P0420 failure code, then I will gladly take this review down. The fact of the matter is you immediately recommended a very costly repair when all I needed was a simple reset of my vehicles drive cycles, because coincidentally, your shop can do the repairs! Theres an inherent conflict of interest/agency problem in getting a vehicle inspected by you that is now very clear to me. Terry, If my vehicle did indeed need a catalytic converter repair/replacement, I would not have any beef with you and would not waste my time going back and forth with you. Since you seem to think its ok to post customer information online like this, I challenge you to check again and post the result. The vehicle has since passed inspection and it did not require a replacement of the catalytic converter as you insisted I needed. This is the reason I posted this review. It infuriated me when I finally figured out how simple it was to get the car to pass inspection. Your records indicate that I put 549 miles in the car over the course of 5 months because it mostly sat in the driveway because it did not pass inspection. The fact of the matter is had you given me the proper advice back in December, this whole ordeal would have been finished months ago and I would have been able to use the vehicle regularly over the course of the past 5 months. This was a terrible disservice. Terry, when the catalytic converter read not ready, you as a mechanic should have known that the first thing to do is to try to reset the catalytic converter monitor by putting the vehicle through its drive cycles. A failure reading would have prompted a replacement, but this is not what the monitor read. And yet your immediate recommendation was to repair/replace the catalytic converter when all I needed to do was spend an hour on the highway putting the car though its drive cycles to reset the monitor. Google is all anyone needs to figure this out. This either points to the dishonesty or the incompetence of your business. Either way it does not bode well.

Ive had experience with this shop under the old name (Auto Check) as well as the new name (Texan Auto) and my wife and I are pleased with both. As a guy, I feel I have a pretty good sense of when auto shops are being fair and when they are trying to pull a fast one. This shop is very fair and, although some things may seem to be a nuisance to others, I prefer to weigh both sides of the scale. 1. "The High Labor Cost" - One of the first things I noticed when entering this shop is the sticker on the door that says "24 month warranty on all work done in this shop." Another thing I look for when Im considering an auto shop is the credentials of the mechanics. The more skilled the mechanics are, the more the labor cost will be. I think we all would like to get paid for our expertise. In my opinion, the warranty guarantee, along with the certification of the mechanics, justifies the pricey labor. It puts my mind at ease that the job will be done right the first time and, if I have to return for the same issue, the additional work will be done at little to no extra cost. 2. "The Corky Front Desk Manager" - The guy at the front desk (I think his name is David) can be a little corky at times, but I dont think it makes him less competent concerning automobiles. I understand that when people are worried about their automobiles and how much its going to cost to get it fixed, the last thing they want to hear from the person behind the front desk is conversation about a book he/she is reading or some video game. I wouldnt speak with customers about those things if I were him, but I dont think he does it intentionally to distract anyone while setting them up fleece them. When I consider the pros as well as the cons of this shop, I believe I am getting good quality service for my dollars. Time wont allow me to mention the convenience of the shuttle service and the location of the shop but, at the end of the day, Texan Auto Repair is a good choice.

BEST SHOP EVER!! I am so grateful to Terry and his Team!! I cannot say thank you enough. My car suffered a good bit of damage after a flooding in my neighborhood. After getting in touch with my insurance company I was told I needed to pick a shop so that the repairs could begin. I had no idea where I could have the repairs done because I didnt have a go to mechanic, and the shops I had dealt with were all bad experiences. After talking to my boss she refereed me to Texan Auto , and I now see why. To start off, my insurance company covered a rental for 30 days, but the repair work exceeded 30 days because again there was a good bit of damage. I was so stressed out, fighting with my insurance company to see if there was anything more that could be done. Because without the rental I would have been stuck with no transportation. That is a huge inconvenience with my current daily schedule. However, after hearing the situation Terry stepped in and gave me a loner car to use until my car would be returned. That was a major relief, and I honestly dont think Terry understands how much it helped. Terry was honestly more helpful than my insurance company. He always keep me up to date and in the loop with everything going on and made sure to stay on my adjusters so that the process would move along in a timely manner (during my claim I dealt with three different adjusters). Also my rear bumper had some pretty bad damaged (not related to the flood), and was in need of body work. Terry and his team did my body work at a more than reasonable price. I love Texan Auto, and I plan on using this shop for everything involving my vehicle. I rarely right a review on a business, but after my experience with this shop it had to be done. Finding a good mechanic shop is hard, but if you are looking, please look no further. Take your car to Texan Auto and trust me you wont regret it! Again thank you Terry and the whole team!!!

Great Service, by great people. Solutions that make them great is because they are there to provide solution for your car/van/truck/suv.. Guys like these are hard to find. Cost effective. Decent in prices. From Oil change to all transmission fluids, once you get the job done from them, they send you a reminder before your due to date is up.. they go by the months..... Just want you guys to know that I own a Mellow Cab Company here in Sugar Land, Texas.. and I get all my cabs repairs done from them. They do a great job. They buy their parts from a known wholesaler and sell it to us on their costs. Where do you find people like these nowadays? Today you go into an ad promotional shop that says they will do all your brakes for $99 and you come out with a payment due to them off $450.. reason being that they told you, you had bad rotors, bad calibers, and sold you all of those parts on costs that they said was market price.. when if you would have gotten it from Texan Auto Check here in Sugar Land, price of the part would be less, labor charges would be decent, and most likely you would be out with rotors, calibers, and all 4wheel break pads for much less. Come in, see David, the desk manager for all your queries, see you get the help like i get here all the time. Come see Terry, the owner of this shop.. a man behind the scenes to make this a family oriented car repair shop. All my relatives come here, i ask my friends to come here and today finally i am asking you all, my human families out there to come to this shop.. Great service by Great people!
