I have been going to this gym for years and it is by far my favorite of all the Vasas aside from Van Winkle. Yes, this gym is extremely busy during peak hours, but they have so many different machines and equipment that you can always do another workout if someone is using what you planned to use next. If you cant do that, you should try to learn a few different workouts. The staff is all super sweet and have become some of my good friends. All of the members are super nice as well. People who dont go to the gym regularly dont see it as this, but once you open up and say hi to everyone its an awesome friendly environment. On the other hand at any gym you go to there is always a jerk or group of them, it happens wherever you go. Its unavoidable to have some people you just dont like. Yes, some of the machines are old, but they still function just as well as new ones and if they do break, they have replacement parts they can order for them. If this wasnt the case, they would not have those machines.Plus, if something is being used day in and day out, it going to break. Everything was recently reupholstered, new tvs put in, new flooring and some new cable machines. Its been a huge upgrade from when it was Golds Gym. I also love this gyms floor plan. It is massive! I love that I can go to many different parts of the gym and not be seen from the main entrance. You get a sense of privacy while working out not having everyone stare at you from the front desk. LOVE THIS GYM

Over crowded, old machines, people "camp-out" at the free weights, leaving backpacks, purses, shaker bottles, duffel bags and all their crap scattered on the floor. Yes, you will trip over their stuff constantly. Its literally impossible to use free weights at the American Fork location. Free weights are always missing, since certain members take up to 5 sets of dumbells for their workout and use them for 30 minutes, then they never put them back. Very few cable machines to use, the ones they do have, the "campers" leave all their gear there too and hoard the cables as well. Cardio machines have broken TVs, treadmill belts are severely worn-out, pedals on bikes are bent and bathrooms are filthy, clogged toilets and urinals, since the staff NEVER leaves the front counter to do anything other than scan your card. Oh yeah, and when you arrive at the gym the staff is RUDE, doesnt even greet you, since they are too buy TEXTING their significant other. I have belonged to gyms in Oakland and Hayward (that were nothing to brag about), but they were even better than VASA in American Fork. If you think Im over-exaggerating, please visit the gym on a Mon-Thurs after work and get a tour for yourself. Its a mob scene and you will find yourself never going to the gym, because you never get access to the equipment you want to use. Place is a nightmare on steroids.....literally.

I hate this gym. The gym equipment is old and broken. It is always so insanely busy. Everyone is SO pompous and rude. And I attribute it largely to the fact that it is so busy. I dont mind asking someone to get off the machine I was clearly using but Id rather not workout in this piranha type environment. If youre a dog and dont mind pissing on the equipment to claim your territory then maybe this is the gym for you. The overcrowded fitness classes constantly feel entitled to grab the free weights and mats from the green area. Leaving that space bare. But dont even think about going in the fitness room to do the same thing, unless you want to take it up with the gym police. I give it 1 star because its cheap and unfortunately the closest Vasa to my home. Id like to say you get what you pay for but Ive been to a number of Vasas in salt lake that are SO NICE!! Vasa: the traverse mountain/Lehi area is booming!! Youd be crazy not to build a gym there!! Youve already lost much of your business to Lifetime as it is just as far for the residents to go there as it is to go to AF. The only reason I keep coming back is because I workout while my daughter goes to dance in Lindon. I love Vasa but your AF location sucks.

I have been a member since 2001 or 2002. In that time I have seen a lot of changes. There is a even mix of newer equipment and old. I dont mind that because I can always find something that works. There has been an ongoing problem with delayed repairs, torn cushions, misplaced weights. The patrons are the worst I have experienced at replacing equipment in proper racks and holders. That will take some training as gym etiquette is quite poor here. I have experienced gyms in other places, especially in California, Texas, Arizona and in Las Vegas, where gym etiquette was exceptional and equipment was replaced after use and bags werent on the floor. A lot of the young patrons treat it like their bedroom at home and are quite sloppy. I dont use the showers any longer because they worked poorly, towel holders were broken off the doers and there was no where to put bath accessories. I will still come here - the staff has always been good and people are important to me. The cleanliness has improved dramatically since El arrived. I think it can be a first class facility.

The gym is great and the receptionists are professional and helpful. The only complaint that I have is that Dustin the sales person promised me to give me a free shirt during sign up did not follow up. After signed up for a week and I talked to him about it and he did not honor that promise. Personally I dont think that is the way to do business. I am not going to leave the gym because of a t-shirt but just something little like this can hurt the representation of the gym. That is why I rated it 2 stars only. Otherwise, 5 stars! ***i want to give an update about this*** After I posted this review, I got a phone call from VASA today and they did follow through and gave me a shirt and an extra hat! That is the way to do business today by making your customer happy. Way to go VASA. I saw other comments about cleanses and crowded situation. Those are the items take time to resolve. Reading the review and follow through like my case is totally under control of the management and VASA has done a great job on that!! 5 stars!!

Always crowded, it smells and old machines. Oh! and to top it off its also closed on Sundays. I have this membership thru work and I have enough of a flexible time to have gone at different times of day, between 6-7:30 am, 10 to 12 and also around 1pm and like I said its always crowded. The best time has been 1pm on week days and Friday evenings. They recently got "new" machines that I swear came from another gym in obviously used condition and nasty dirty. Its hard to find free weights around the 20-40 pound range and the overall space is small for the free weights. Also some of the treadmills feel like they need a tune-up. The stairmasters are constantly busy and theres one always out of order. Theres nothing else other than crossfit around so Ill stick around until something else comes around but seriously this VASA needs some serious work done ASAP!!! IF you can go somewhere else do so! I recommend the Orem university Vasa (bigger and smells better) or the one in Draper (smaller but open on Sundays).
