Dont waste your money. I got a cut/style, and a color highlight here. Both times were not worth the steep price and Ive had better for much less. The cut I felt especially rushed because the stylist had moved my appt up 15 minutes from the time I scheduled and received confirmation for, and told no one, including me when she called to confirm. I had to show them the confirmation email because they were like no, Im right, youre wrong. Also the cut was surprisingly much shorter than I asked for, but I decided to just smile through it. I came back for my color appt, some simple highlights and lowlights to update my grown-out highlights. The whole point of which was to blend into my roots. But the when I saw the reveal the girl who is their main colorist had kept the grow out line the same! Yes the same. So I still have well over an inch and a half of roots that will be way grown out by the time I get another service, plus I dont want to reprocess my hair right away either. When I said, "you didnt get anywhere near my scalp, the grow out line is just as harsh as it was, and not even moved up" the stylist waved over a buddy and they summarily ignored it and did the whole "oh it looks great now get outta here" thing. So I saw I was going to get nowhere and left but wont be going back. Seriously, save you time and money, for all the flowery hype this place isnt as good as the other places for half the cost or less.

Fantastic haircuts from Stacy and Stephen. In addition, Stacy (second appointment) did a great job with color. The salon is gorgeous - and my short hair looks wonderful. I was worried about replicating a short, spiky hair style I used to have cut by my longtime hairdresser in Chicago. I need not have worried. For my first appointment, Stephen talked with me, really looked at my hair to see its thickness, lack of curl and cowlick then cut my hair perfectly. Both Stacy and Stephen are top-notch. There is also a quiet, relaxing atmosphere in the salon. The stylist will bring you coffee, tea or water and there are, of course, Aveda products available - but no pressure to buy them. I highly recommend this very professional salon with hairdressers who take cutting hair the way you want it seriously and know everything about color. Terrific place - for many years II went to the best in downtown Chicago and this place is their equal.

Top Level Salon that Locals May Not Appreciate. I can understand why locals consider this Salon to be high-priced for the area - but being from Boston puts these prices into perspective. In an area where Salons/Fashion take a back seat to practicality and winter gear, you will find an Oasis in Stephen & Burns. The stylists are well trained, the building is fabulously decorated and clean all the time, and the extra services you receive - free beverages while you wait, smocks and t-shirts to change into so nothing gets on your clothes - are part of the overall experience that you will not find anywhere else in Burlington (believe me, Ive been to every "high end" salon I could find here). I am willing to pay the extra money for the atmosphere, the skilled stylists and the fantastic customer service. If you want an average haircut, feel free to go to the mall. If you want a real Salon, High-Level experience, go to Stephen & Burns.

I had heard so many great things about this salon, so I booked an appointment. My stylist was rushed and seemed like she didnt quite know what she was doing. I was shocked to learn, through talking with her, that she had only been doing hair for less then 2 years! The cut was awful! I have natural curl in my hair...and a round brush-blow dry still leaves wave. I asked if she could flat iron it. She said, "I cant, we have a wedding party coming in...time is limited...you need to let us know ahead of time if you want a flat iron!" I seriously have never had a problem with salons flat-ironing my hair. With an A-line cut, you need to have it flat iron to make it a PRECISION cut. When I went home and flat ironed it...it was so bad!!! Even my husband was shocked and insisted I go back and have it fixed! I went back a few hours later and have it fixed by another Stylist....talk about awkward!!! What a disappointment!

Ive had pretty good experiences at this place. Folks are always friendly and kind. I have had some inconsistency in hair color pricing from different stylists during consultations that kept me from pursuing that service. Mostly Im giving 3 stars because they need to invest in their adminisitration and customer service. Everytime I call for an appointment I have to call at least 3-5x cause they are busy on the line. I have had appointments cancelled /not in the system when I arrive for services, and notes from consultations on hair color have not been saved to my record as they had been promised to on two occasions. For the price of services, there need to be more reliability accesibility to customer service. Again great spa and salon services, but lacking admin.

I have been going to Stephen & Burns for a while for massages and have gotten them with a few people, and find them all to be very good. (My favorite is Katie!) I think the atmosphere is perfect and like that the massage area is removed from the main salon area, so its a little more quiet and private. Right when you walk in, I find that the people at the front desk are very friendly and hospitable and appreciate that they offer you something to drink and take your coat. You can sense when you walk in that it is a high quality salon. The one thing that lacks somewhat is help and product knowledge from personnel on the sales floor when you are shopping for products.

It doesnt get better than a massage with Billie! Walk into Stephen and Burns and you are instantly made to feel welcome - take your coat, offer hot or cold beverage, and a beautifully decorated waiting area. Staff are totally professional, while being friendly and welcoming. The massage area is upstairs, tucked away from the bustle of the salon; the music there is subtle, colors are muted and the whole effect is quiet and relaxing. Have a massage with BILLIE and feel fabulous! She listens to what you want or need, and she delivers. Her skills are exceptional - I always feel fabulous.

I have been going to Stephen & Burns for over a year now and I have had such great haircuts and highlights from Britney. She is a master stylist and it shows. She is knowledgeable about what will look good on me and my cuts are always easily to style myself at home (which is the sign of a great cut). The salon atmosphere is inviting to me and I LOVE their tea that they provide. I would highly recommend this salon. I have never had a bad experience and will continue to frequent Stephen & Burns!

Massage review: Although the price is a little high, and they cut the times (but not the prices) on their 90min and 60min massages down to 50 and 80, I still recommend Stephen & Burns for massages. The atmosphere is very soothing and Ive never had a "bad" massage there. There seems to be a relatively high turnover of masseuses, but trying out new ones is kind of fun. The employees have always been very pleasant. When I really want a good massage, I choose S&B.
