I really wanted to like this place... I saw all the great reviews and decided to go here for a color/cut, since my usual stylist was booked. Considering the price of the salon, I was very displeased... I have gotten better service at much lower priced salons... Overall, I felt like maintaining the health/integrity of my hair was not a priority at this salon -- I came away with damage that will take a while to mend. PROS: 1. They give you wine/soda/water while youre waiting (Ive found this has become standard at most high-end salons in the area) 2. The chairs at the hair wash stations are great -- they recline like a recliner with your feet propped up! CONS: 1. Ripping through your hair with a fine-toothed comb. My hair is naturally pretty fine and gets tangled fairly easily. I dont know if my stylist was in a hurry or something, but he literally ripped through my tangles with a fine-toothed comb, and when I got home, I noticed I had TONS of fly-aways where hair had broken all over!!! 2. Not taking the time to understand what kind of cut/color you want. Considering the price, I was expecting an expert haircut. Before my color/cut began (while my hair was still dry), I tried to discuss the condition of my haircut and how I wanted it shaped up with the stylist (Nash) -- he told me that we didnt need to discuss that until after the color, when my hair was wet and I was in his chair. I hesitantly said ok and waited... however, once I was in his chair, he began trimming away and never asked me how I wanted it to look or how I wanted my layers to lay. He must have cut for 5 minutes, because before I knew it, he was already blow-drying my hair! He didnt listen to me and look through my hair to see what was done before, which is probably why he looked a little surprised by how dark it turned out after he colored it. I had asked for light brown (even looked at picture examples), and instead it turned out to be a VERY dark brown. 3. 400 Degree Flat-irons!!! After blow-drying my hair, the stylist immediately started flat-ironing my hair (that seems to be standard procedure in that place as I saw a lot of other customers getting flat-ironed too!). Considering he had just applied permanent hair color (which is damaging), blow-dried my hair using high heat (which is damaging), and due to the fact that I have fine and fragile hair already, I was in shock to see that he was 1) using a flatiron, period and 2) that there was actually smoke coming from the flatiron! When I got home, I noticed I had more split ends than I have ever had... 4. They are not very advanced in color treatment technique. I already had lots of blonde highlights in my hair, but instead of just coloring the other parts of my hair and leaving the highlights, he colored everything and then applied highlights in a second process... resulting in more damage to my already damaged hair. My usual stylist always uses a demi-permanent color on me, and I tried to mention that, but was immediately told that permanent was necessary. Result = more damage. Long story short, I will definitely not be returning.

Where do I even begin- I originally came into Urban Halo for nothing hair related, I came in because I saw an Instagram post of their incredibly talented lash artist, Rita. She is the BOMB! Not only does she do an absolutely beautiful job on my lashes, she is a perfectionist, professional & kind. She is the most accommodating lash artist Ive ever been to. Her work area is comfortable & CLEAN. I cant say enough good things, I leave feeling like a beauty queen every lash appointment & its for a very reasonable price (Ive been to 4-5 spots in the DMV for lashes)- youre in great hands, trust me. From there, I got an ultrasonic facial with Rita & 5 days later my skin is still glowing! She is super knowledgeable on all things aesthetics & definitely more than knows her stuff about everything skin care. I cant wait to see her for another treatment. I am now a total Urban Halo convert; I went to see Laura for cut & color. Let me tell you, I am VERY particular when it comes to my hair & especially my color. I normally keep it medium length with no color because I havent been able to find a stylist who is able to nail exactly the look I want. Laura knocked it out of the park, shes very sweet & super talented, I left with a medium length lob style & caramel balayage. I have had so many compliments & the best part is I left the salon with a style that I can do on my own & one product & shampoo/conditioner that I love. She educated me on products that I would use, not just trying to upsell me on products that would sit in my bathroom, being a total waste of money. Needless to say every treatment Ive had here has been incredible & Ive referred 3 friends for haircuts & two for lashes- everyone is just as satisfied. Urban Halo is a MUST!

My motto is “There are no rewinds!” This is why I am a loyal client of the incredibly talented stylist, Nash Noufal! For many years I have been seeking out his artistry once or twice a week. Yes, I know, it’s a bit much, but when you can look as great as Nash makes you look and feel, it becomes addictive… HE becomes addictive!!! LOL ~ Seriously, this guy has a crazy dose of extreme talent!!! Nash recently opened a new stylish salon, URBAN HALO, which is located in Clarendon, Virginia right across the street from The Cheesecake Factory with easy access by metro! On my son’s wedding day which occurred last weekend, Nash created a special party for me and 6 of my guests. There are not enough words to express my appreciation for Nash’s understanding of how important this day was to me and for his wanting me to walk out of his salon looking more unbelievably beautiful than I ever have before. On top of all that, upon our arrival he had arranged for a spectacular spread of specialty coffees and a fabulous assortment of gourmet breakfast items, making this a festive occasion indeed. There were several stylists available to us, including Leila, who created the most beautiful up-do for my daughter’s hair. I honestly have never seen her look more beautiful in my life. Nash’s work is always impeccable as he is a perfectionist. So get ready to be blown away by his artistry. But also be prepared to be spoiled and to look better than you have ever looked in your life. This is major talent ladies! Nash is a stylist worth pursuing!!! Oh, and by the way, Im not sure what happened with the previous reveiwer, but all of my sons have been cut by Nash and they all swear that Nash gives them the best cuts theyve ever had!

I went to this salon last month. I was looking for a new salon having just moved to the area. I chose a "master" stylist when I made my appointment and was booked with a woman (cant remember her name) with shoulder length curly black hair. We discussed what I wanted at length - a warm brown with pretty caramel highlights plus a cut with layers to give my long hair some body. When we finished, I noticed that she kept "smoothing" down a section of hair on the top front of my head. After washing my hair the next day, I saw that the entire highlighted section had broken off in the salon and I had about 1.5 inches of hair right at my part line -- I couldnt believe she didnt say anything to me. Also, my highlights are brassy and have completely damaged the quality of my hair. My hair cut is shapeless... and she charged me a lot of money for this hair cut - the full cost of a partial foil plus the full cost of a color. Most salons Ive been to charge a discounted rate if you have both a partial foil plus color. I have never actually had such a bad haircut from such an expensive salon. I would definitely not recommend this stylist. She clearly didnt listen to me and I cant believe that she didnt tell me about the damage she did to my hair. I understand sometimes mistakes happen but the fact she tried to cover it up is what really upsets me (and she charged me an arm and a leg for breaking my hair off!).
