The guys at Allied Auto Repair, and Sidney in particular, took great care of my car when it was recently in their shop. I dont know what the previous reviewer said about people paying for reviews (does this really happen?) and I can tell you that I wasnt paid to give a review. I actually paid Allied Auto a good bit of money to do work on my car. They fixed some issues that I knew were wrong and let me know about some additional things that needed some attention. When Sidney told me about the additional problems that he found he talked to me about what should be done at that time and about what issues I might encounter in the future. I didnt feel pressured to have unnecessary work done just to drive up the cost. Sidney even had me bring the car back a couple weeks after the work was done to make sure the gasket that was replaced had successfully sealed the previous leak. I think the biggest issue people have with auto mechanics is finding someone they can trust. Someone recommended this shop to me and I would recommend the shop and their work to anyone.

Wow, i cant even put into words how amazing these guys were. I just took my customized 98 stratus here because my aftermarket exhaust pipes were rusted and my exhaust was hanging on for its life. The man was more than helpful, he showed me what was wrong, what he had to do to fix and a time frame. He gave me plenty of options to make the cheapest repair as possible. He was sincere and honest with me the whole time. Not only did he help me find his shop, they drove me home and proceeded to pick me up when my car was ready. This kind of work would have cost up to 3 times as much and would have taken a normal everyday ignorant service station 3 - 5 days to repair. He repaired everything and salvaged my old exhaust (which i am highly grateful for) within a day and a half! He does everything by the books and I wouldnt ever think about taking my car to another shop. my rating for this shop and employees, out of 5 (5 being the best) everything a 10!!! dont pass up quality and honesty for an everyday commercialized repair shop.

They are incompetent and dishonest. The 20 glowing Google reviews they have were written by someone they hired to build their online reputation - the owner admitted this to me, after the fact ("I paid a lot of money for that"). They lied to me, kept my vehicle for weeks (yes, weeks) without any progress, gave me all kinds of shady explanations and stories, and the price kept going up and up and up. While I was there to (finally) pick up my car, another unsatisfied customer told the owner that hell never bring his car back there for anything. They replaced my transmission, two months after the warranty expired the flexplate/flywheel broke. No way to prove it, but Im sure it was due to their incompetence. The owner personifies everything car owners fear in a mechanic. Dishonest and incompetent, a master at making excuses. Just a crooked man. Avoid at all cost.

Without a doubt my favorite mechanic of all time and I cant recommend Sidney and his staff enough. He does phenomenal work with very reasonable rates and has kept my 04 Toyota 4runner with 225k miles going strong for quite a while now. As others have said below, he takes the time to show you the worn/broken parts along with pictures (via i-pad) that details the overall completed work. My wifes Jeep was recently in a local dealer for a recall repair and they notified us that we also had a leaking part that would cost $1400 to fix. I immediately took it to Allied and he couldnt believe the outrageous quote, and stated that around $500 should take care of it. In the end the job finished under his estimated figure and ended up saving us just under 1k overall. Again I cant recommend Sidney/Allied Auto enough and theres no better in the Cville area.

Allied Auto is great! Sydney is knowledgeable, honest and his prices are fair. He always shows you the parts he replaced and explains why it needed to be done. He is competitive and whenever weve needed an expensive repair, Ive called around to other shops, and he will meet or beat their estimate. He doesnt routinely provide a huge laundry list of things that could be done, so theres no pressure to commit to additional services that arent necessary. With that being said, hes good about telling you what looks like the car will need coming up and what to watch out for to know when its time to take care of it. He understands we are on a limited budget, and has worked with us to keep both of our older cars safe and functional. --Joe & Beth

I have been extremely happy with Sidneys work and his customer service. He came highly recommended, and I confidently recommend him to others. In the fall, he replaced the suspensions for much less than what I had been quoted elsewhere. I recently returned to get my exhaust system replaced and a much-needed tune-up, but I had a limited budget. Although Sidney will never compromise on the quality of his work or your safety (and tells you that upfront), he was able to find a solution that was within my budget. His diagnoses are spot-on, the results are always impeccable, he calls when he says hell call, and hes done when he says hell be done. And, yes, his prices are definitely fair. If only everything else in life was this easy.

I had my dodge neon fixed here just last month. With a broken water pump, leaking radiator, and a miss-timed timing belt many places around Charlottesville were quoting me for THREE TIMES what the guys at Allied Auto Repair quoted me for. Not only are their prices cheap, the owner is extremely kind and takes you through the process- showing you what is wrong with your car and demonstrating the defect so that you know why they have to fix it. I dont know a lot about cars and thats why I really trust these guys because theyre willing to give you a fair price AND show you what exactly is wrong whereas a lot of other places will sell you things you really dont need. I highly recommend Allied Auto Repair to any other UVa students!

I have a very bad experience in Allied auto repair today. I drove the car there for state safety inspection, then they called me back that I need to pay over 500 bucks for repair. I doubt about that and drove to Meineke for another round inspection. They just charge me less than 50 bucks for polishing the head light which is indeed not that bright at night. Now I am regretting putting thousands of money into allied auto repair in the past two years. They are really unprofessional and dishonest. I doubt why they can get such high rate reviews. Maybe they just fake experience. This auto repair garage just moved to a new place and maybe they are short of money? So disappointed and you are definitely losing return customers.

Very Honest, Upfront and Fantastic service! My car was in a pretty bad accident and the quote I got from "chain" auto shops were outrageous and way beyond my budget. The people at Allied helped me get back on the road for a very reasonable price with 1/3 rd of the price quote and with excellent service. They were upfront with me regarding the charges, the time it would take and what exactly would be done on the car. They were so good to me : They offered me a ride back home and delivered the car right on time. They take pride in their work and more importantly are very Honest about what needs to be done and what does not. As long as I am in C-ville and the vicinity : I wont go anywhere else. Highly Recommended!
