I cannot say enough good things about Smooth Skin laser!! First off, let me say that I am olive skin, with dark hair and dark eyebrows; if grown out, the hair on my legs looked like a mans! I have always been a waxer, and had looked into laser several years ago when I lived up in DC. I decided against it at that time b/c 1., it was very expensive up there; and 2., I was told that it might not be effective with my skin tone/hair consistency. But, on the recommendation of a friend, I set an appointment with Smooth Skin. The first appointment was just a consultation with Carrie; I love her! She was very candid with me and told me that she thought my hair quality would be susceptible to the laser BUT, it might take more than just 5 treatments (I was interested in a 5-session package they were offering at the time). I sincerely appreciated the honesty. Additionally, the cost of the treatments was completely reasonable; I did the math, and they laser treatments would pay for themselves in 14 months if I continued to wax!! So, I signed up and the results have been AMAZING!!! My hair growth was SIGNIFICANTLY reduced after just the first session (and in some areas didnt grow back at all); and now after 5 sessions, my legs look perfect - I dont have to worry about throwing on a dress for fear of hair on my legs. Based off the success of my legs, I have also signed up for my lip and my bikini - all showing great results after the first couple of treatments. I will also comment that it is NOT as painful as I thought it was going to be. Lets be honest - waxing is not fun or pleasant, and the laser is a bit uncomfortable. But, what would take 45-60 minutes with waxing is done in 15-20 minutes with the laser. So, all in all, I am completely satisfied with my experience at Smooth Skin laser. Both Carrie and Lexi are awesome; the prices are affordable (and dare I say cheap compared to NoVa!); and my results are fantastic!! If you are at all interested in laser hair removal, I recommend scheduling an appointment today!!

After contemplating laser hair removal for nearly a decade, I finally took the plunge and am so thankful I did so with Smooth Skin Laser. Aside from the professionalism and general kindness I experienced at the clinic, I was most impressed with the machine itself. Unlike other clinics, SSL uses a medical-grade machine that has a cooling function which minimizes pain. I have a moderate pain tolerance and I can only imagine what it would feel like without that cooling mechanism (eek!). This is a LIFE-ALTERING experience because it saves me so much time in the shower and I no longer have to battle ingrown hairs. I had my armpits, bikini line and upper lip done. Post-treatment, I experienced no itching, pain, or change in pigmentation, with only a minimal amount of redness for two days. Within a week my hair was no longer growing back and I havent had to shave for days. Ive tried waxing in the past and it was more painful with over half the shelf-life. My hair grows fast and I shave my armpits daily. After only one session my skin is smooth and hair-free. Ill have to return for several more follow-up sessions, but thanks to the great care I received at SSL, I eagerly anticipate it instead of dreading it. Carrie has a talent for multi-tasking: she performed excellent laser care while simultaneously distracting me with good conversation. Before I knew it, the treatment was over. I believe this talent stems from the fact that SSL focuses on hair removal and hair removal alone, unlike other clinics and spas that provide an assortment of services, potentially making them less proficient at a single one. The women at SSL are experts at hair removal and I whole-heartedly give them fives stars.

If I could rate this place 10 stars I would!!! I couldnt ask for a better team of women to help me with my hair removal. The office is so cozy - not at all like a doctors office!!! It is decorated so well and the "vibe" is very comfortable. The staff also helps to make it more comfortable. I am sure most people are uncomfortable showing how hairy they are - but this group really makes you feel like its no big deal. I have had all sorts of areas done on my body and never once have I felt squeamish at all. They are experts, do this all the time, and its obvious that they have seen it all and nothing bothers/offends them. The staff is also very friendly. Even though I wouldnt mind waiting because the office is so cozy, I have never once had to really wait. They are so efficient with their time. I personally hate waiting long at medical offices. I know many people start to get paranoid - not here! You are seen right away. Also they have been very accommodating because I have a 1 year old baby (he was 2 months when I had my first appointment) and they were so tolerate of me. I could not arrange for childcare for these appointments, so I had to bring my kid and they did not give me a hard time AT ALL. I really appreciate that. I would recommend this group again and again! I sing their praises to my friends and family, as well as my clients (I am in the wedding business - and think EVERY bride should go get lasered for her honeymoon!!) If you have ever considered laser, I would go see them for a free consult ASAP!

Carrie and Smooth Skin Laser are the very best!! I have had two laser treatments so far on my underarms and I AM HOOKED! I am fair skinned but have very thick, fast growing dark underarm hair (if youre like me, you are a perfect candidate). Carrie, the laser technician is so professional, kind, and really loves helping people like me get rid of unwanted hair and has made my treatments go by fast and relatively pain free. The two treatments (typically people like me need between 3-4 under the arms) have really decreased the amount of hair growth I have (going from having a shadow almost immediately after shaving to shaving maybe once a week). Its really not very painful-similar to a slight stinging sensation that goes away as soon as the treatment is over. The cooling component of the laser is also really neat because it decreases the amount of discomfort you have-no burning sensation. The office is clean and relaxing and the staff is so welcoming. I cannot believe how easy, inexpensive, painless, and enjoyable this experience has been. After 2 treatments I am raving and will definitely be going back and referring all of my friends to Carrie and to Smooth Skin Laser in Charlottesville!!

Make yourself happier and more comfortable by getting rid of unwanted hair forever at Smooth Skin Laser! I was a bit nervous before my first appointment--I thought laser hair removal would be embarrassing and physically very painful--but I was wrong. Carrie, the laser technician, is so welcoming, open, and matter-of-fact, that I didnt feel embarrassed at all. She really loves helping women (and men!) through laser hair removal, and it shows. And she is so competent and efficient with the laser machine that my appointments are always very quick with minimal discomfort. I have gotten great results so far, so much so that I am "hooked" and keep coming back to Smooth Skin for new areas. In general, the office atmosphere is relaxing, and the business administrator, Whitney, is friendly and pleasant. If youre looking for laser in Charlottesville, Smooth Skin is the place to go--they specialize in laser only, so its no wonder theyre so good at it.
